Since Jorge and Maria took over in August 2013, A Torre has transformed its design and menu, it offers a mouth watering selection of the finest Portuguese dishes combining fresh, simple ingredients with a genuine love for Portuguese cuisine.
Jorge trained and worked as manager in some of the top restaurants in the Kent area over the last twenty five years. He says "Our aim is to offer people a place where they can enjoy quality food at reasonable prices in a place where they can sit and relax."
The food is first class, just authentic, quality food cooked to perfection.
We ensure that each visit to A Torre is a special one, you wont be disappointed.
Last minute decision to have a Sunday evening meal out. Very friendly and welcoming and the food was really good. I had peri peri prawns and tuna steak. My husband went for clams and lamb shank. We’ll definitely be back.
Great food and perfect service. Always time to give that little extra !
I would highly recommend this little gem, I’ve been a few times and always had the best and most personal service. The food is just delicious! I will defined come back
Another visit, another really nice meal in a friendly atmosphere. The food is fantastic. After a quiet start, the restaurant began to fill up and the whole place came to life. Highly recommended.
Small and intimate surroundings, with pleasant subdued lighting, adding to a feeling of relaxation. The staff were attentive and warm and welcoming. The house wine was of good quality and we did not have wait long for our starters. We had just about the right wait time for the main course, ensuring we had digested our starters and had appetite for the mains. I had a whole Sea Bream, which was perfectly cooked and serves with a selection of hot vegetables which were still 'al dente' . My partner had the fish stew, which he said was fantastic, in a beautiful sauce. My partner had desert and I cheeses, which again were of good quality. We finished with port and coffee. So all in all, a totally relaxed atmosphere with good quality food and attentive service. Will definitely return!
Fabulous place. So much food and great value.
Have been here quite a few times. The food is always excellent, and the owner and his staff are very welcoming. The restaurant is popular, which is not surprising; so it can feel a bit crowded at peak times and quite noisy.... but this creates a real “buzz”. Also the tables are, of necessity quite close. The service can be a little slow, but it’s worth the wait for the food! Definitely recommended.
Restaurant was ok - went here for partner’s birthday. Service was very slow (it was a packed Saturday night, so we were trying to be understanding). Waited round 45 mins before even a drink arrived, which was plonked down and spilled on table (other guests were asked to try the wine and had it poured for them). Starter never arrived, though they removed this from the bill with no issue.
Mains finally arrived without acknowledgement of the huge wait. Was reasonable food, although some of the vegetables may have been either tinned or frozen - for this sort of food, fresh goes a long way!
Very noisy on the Saturday night - it was difficult holding a conversation!
Lots of potential at this place, but wouldn’t be in a hurry to revisit any time soon.
Really enjoyed the food; staff were friendly but service was slow but we were not in any rush! Quite a buzzy place but this was a Suturday night in Crystal Palace!
Lovely as always. Delicious food served by lovely people
Very friendly welcome and we were thoroughly looked after. Food was great too. Highly recommend!
Authentic food, friendly service, and cosy restaurant. Good value for money - we'll be back!
Very clean restaurant, staff very friendly and courteous. We enjoyed our meal which was fresh and tasty and did not have to wait long for our meal to arrive. Good atmosphere, would eat there again.
This was our first visit & overall had a very enjoyable evening. Restaurant was very busy with a good ambiance. Food was authentic good quality Portuguese. Would recommend that you give it a try.
Small, busy local family run Portuguese restaurant, friendly atmosphere. Wide menu choice but some foods not available on this occasion. We were a group of 6 and all of us enjoyed the dishes we selected. Good wine, attentive to our needs. Would recommend.
Good food and drinks. Service very good , just right level of attention. All In all a very pleasant experience, would be happy to go back again
Delicious seafood in a pleasant and family friendly environment. The main course portions are very large though - would probably have ordered less and shared some if had known quite how big they are!
We booked last minute for a catch up with friends. Food was great and the restaurant filled up throughout the night. Friendly old fashioned service. A nice local place that I will happily return to.
Food was excellent. We had to wait some time to be served.
Excellent food with generous portion sizes. However, the evening we went service was slow and so assumed they were short staffed. We waited for ages for a menu or drinks orders to get taken. There were only two staff in restaurant, one taking orders and both serving and clearing tables. We had to wave at staff to get more drinks and for dessert menu. They were lovely and we felt that they were struggling to cope as the restaurant was extremely busy. Once orders were taken food came quickly and was piping hot. We would definitely go back but hope they will have more serving staff next time.
I hadn't been to A Torre for years but the food was just as good as I remembered it. Good choice of meals and great fresh ingredients.
First time in A Torre and will definitely return. Great service, food was lovely! Was my birthday and I enjoyed everything: atmosphere, recommended wine with my food, and a little treat at the end with a glass of port. Thank you very much A Torre staff.
Booked off the cuff at short notice for 5 people, food was very good would definitely recommend and will go again
Excellent evening, amazing food and great service. We'll be back for sure.
Delightful restaurant with traditional Portuguese food and generous portions. We enjoyed a half jug of Portuguese light white sparkling wine. This could become a frequent haunt for my friends and me (a group of 60 somethings). A short, easy, walk from Crystal Palace bus terminal . Car parking would be by Sainsbury's. Booking is probably advisable as it is a small restaurant.
A good family restaurant, to start i had the cod cakes which were yummy and for the main i had beef skewer and chips, i asked for the beef well done and that's exactly what i got and the chips were very good, for dessert i had biscuit layer cake which was just a gooy mess with no sign of biscuit and avoid the house white it's about £6 per large glass and i doubt it cost that much for a bottle down the supermarket.
We had a fantastic meal here. The waiter was attentive withour being overbearing. We'd certainly return!
I've been there twice and still not disappointed, very good place and fantastic portuguese food.
This last time I've been there was fantastic, apart from the cold air that was crossing the room
Excellent food. We had the seafood paella and roasted Octopus both were divine. Staff super friendly, great service, Will definitely visit again.
This restaurant provided excellent food and very good and friendly service. Booking on-line was very straightforward and the restaurant was quite happy to accommodate an extra party member. Would recommend to anyone
The food was very good as was the wine. Terrific value for money supported by excellent service. Looking forward to returning asap.
Made to feel very welcome on arrival. Lively, authentic atmosphere. Everybody remarked it was like being back in Portugal. Food excellent and wine sublime. Restaurant almost full but we felt very special wuth hugs and kisses as we left.
Wonderful! Only wish we lived close enough to visit more regularly. Two hour drive, but we will definitely be back.
The service is just the best here! The team are so guest focused and have time for everybody with a personal touch. Great food too - robust Portuguese cuisine!
Wondered by this fantastic Portuguese Restaurant on UK's Mother's Day. They surprisingly had one open reservation on Open Table and took us. Everything was amazing: Food, Service, and Atmosphere! We had red snapper, lamb chops, sea bass, roasted pork belly, and calamari. Everything was perfect! Loved the owner and her sons. They were so hospitable and just lovely. Will definitely be recommending this place to others.
good food, very friendly and helpful staff, quick and efficient service.
We went there on a Sunday afternoon and had a good time. The staff were lovely and the food tasty.
Food was good but service was not up to its usual standard. Had to wait ages for food to arrive, then when it came several side dishes were missing and took a further 10-15 mins to arrive. Bill took 3 times of asking to arrive, then was someone else’s when it did come.
Fantastic food, we really enjoyed it and will definitely be back to explore the menu further. The quality of the service is great too, very warm and welcoming and you can clearly see the passion they have for the restaurant and the menu. Our only criticism would be the tables are quite close together and we were sat next some very loud people so we couldn't really hear eachother over the neighbouring table.
Very good service and welcoming.
Nice food.... enjoy it, every time I go..
Lovely waitress with friendly smile made up very welcome. Good food, great if you love fish.
Enjoy a nice glass of port.
Think of holidays in Portugal.
Makes a nice change.
