We were a group of 4 and had an amazing time! The service, the atmosphere and the food were really good. Special mention to the honey wine.
A lot of flavour in the Eritrean food. The mixed meats and vegetables dish was good value.
Went well with reasonably priced wine.
The service was warm and welcoming.
Cozy Eritrean restaurant with lovely atmosphere. The food is tasty and abundant. Although it seems expensive at first the portions are very large so no need of ordering too many dishes. If anything smaller and cheaper portions would be better as they would allow the tasting of a larger number of dishes; however there are sample menus which looked delicious. Overall a pleasant experience and I will definitely go back
Excellent food, great price, and fantastic service!
generous portion and great atmosphere...
Honestly my new favourite spot! We drive there for 30mins but I don’t care. The food is amazing! House wine too ☺️
2nd visit to Adulis and has been great both times. Offers something different for those not familiar with the cuisine. I would recommend the platter for 1!
We enjoyed the meal, the food was tasty and the waitress pleasant. We had a sharing platter for two and we couldn't finish it. Next time we'd get the platter for one and share it, maybe getting an extra dish when we see the quantity.
Adulis has become one of my favourite restaurants. The food is excellent and it’s very good value. The service is great and there’s a lovely convivial atmosphere.
very good food as usual. happy to keep coming back to this place.
Love their food and we are regular guests there however we got really disappointed when only at the en we were informed the card machine was not working and we need to go to the corner to get cash. It was not working since we arrived and we should be advised but were not. No, no, no, it is not correct. First time I got disappointed with them. Also waitress was not too much aware of things, maybe not in a good day.
As always, the food was wonderful. A brilliant local place. Highly recommended
Love this restaurant!
The food is BANGING, the service is on point, the atmosphere is wonderful. And great location too.
Food was good, bar the plentiful iceberg lettuce.
What really let this place down was the lack of organisation (bordering on rudeness) of the staff. After being seated in different areas, date arrived later, the wait was appalling. Every request felt like a Herculean task: drink, meal, drink, bill, bill, bill, bill, ... We had to ask repeatedly, and the staff mainly just seemed to be lounging around watching the one designated person actually tending to customers. It’s a lovely place, but ruined by the lack of professionalism, shame, I would love to promote more restaurants like this (good food, on the affordable side, different cuisines) but they let theirselves down.
i come here often. this place never disappoints. very good food. friendly service.
Never disappoints. Great food and ambience
Having read a lot of good reviews about the restaurant I was somewhat disappointed by our experience. I had a grilled strip lamb dish which was rather dry, tasted and looked like beef.
My wife had a chicken dish which had very little chicken in it. One drumstick and one wing and a boiled egg.
Food was eaten by hand and there were no knives or forks although some people had spoons to help with service. This might be an issue for some people but we had a hand sanitizer with us.
The restaurant was very busy and consequently quite noisy.
The service and drinks were good if a little pricey
The food was very good but the staff was quit unfriendly and looked very unmotivated to work.
the food was good however the communication from staff was poor. Could have been much better.
We ordered the vegetarian platter for two which was delicious. Unfortunately the injera bread is not made traditionally with teff flour, therefore it is not gluten free. I had booked an Eritrean restaurant due to my dietary requirements so this was somewhat disappointing. The service was fairly poor, the waiter was not apologetic regarding the injera and several times we had to get out of our seats to find the waiter to order drinks, as the service was infrequent and slow. Despite this we enjoyed our meal as the space is beautifully decorated and the food was enjoyable.
Great tasting food. Good atmosphere. Would definitely recommend
Tasty food, good for trying something new, friendly staff
Great Food with lovely frindly staff! Highly recommended.
Very nice dinner ! If you want something different dish try them!!
Very happy with everything, my first Eritrean and I'm a convert now. Decent vegetarian selection. Enjoyed the honey wine, try the dry one if you ever visit.
This was a perfect spot to catch up with a friend - we greatly enjoyed the food, the service and the atmosphere. The combination of distinct aromas made the ambience very special. This place has a great selection of vegan dishes and both my friend and I being vegan, we shall be regulars from this point on! We of course concluded the meal with the famous Ethiopian coffee ceremony which made the evening even more enjoyable.
My date and I had a great evening at this cosy place. The service was brilliant and I want to say thanks to the staff for making us feel at home. Food was full of amazing flavours and the coffee ceremony out of this world. We'll be seen here again.
Some food is spice. Coffee was good.
I might come back to try more food.
Big plate for 2 meat and veg., disappointed me little.
I thought it would be bigger portions.
The restaurant was fairly busy for a Thursday evening and had a good selection of dishes to choose from. We chose the set meat dish for 2, which was very tasty. Unfortunately the restaurant didn't have the two first bottles of red wine we tried to order, but did have a few others to select from. Overall a nice dinner.
A great opportunity to try Eritrean food in a lovely setting!
This is one of my best finds! The tasting platter (vegetarian or not) is the best option for first timers because you get to try everything and for such a good price! Eating with your hands is really really fun and social and every dish is a surprising new combination of flavours. Absolutely delicious! The coffee cerimony is worth trying, it produces one of the best cups of coffee i have ever tasted! The decoration really transports you to another country and is really interesting. AMAZING! JUST GO! Haha
I can highly recommendation the mixed platters for the variety of Eritrean food you can sample in one sitting. The portions are very generous indeed, so it is good value overall. The staff are friendly and the food arrives quickly.
Shared platter as always great. The smell of coffee in the air was brilliant!
Food was nice but the service not so great. It was slow and they bought out the wrong orders half of the time, they weren't even that busy. Staff were friendly and tried to be helpful yet not very clear when explaining their dishes.
A great, authentic experience of Eritrea! Really worth going to if you want to experience something different!
Love the food, the atmosphere and the hospitality. I'll definitely be coming back again and again to what is now one of my favourite restaurants in town.
We were made to feel at ease from the moment we arrived. The smell of aromatic foods combined with the scent of freshly roasted coffee in the air was simply to die for. Customer service was second to none. We left the place with a full belly and a smile.
I was at a friend's place around the corner, then I Googled for the nearest restaurant. Opentable told me there was this Eritrean restaurant and I booked it about 10 minutes before going. It seems to be pretty trendy/popular in the area, hidden gem!
Loved the food. I'd recommend getting the platter (trying a bunch of different things) to get a flavour for the cuisine. Nice atmosphere, great food, and I'd definitely recommend it!
The venue is basic but cosy and nice and once entered in you are welcome by the friendly staff. The food is absolutely amazing (especially sharing plates) with a pretty good choiche of wines. Really good value for money.
