Not the cheapest but absolutely exquisite and a wonderful treat .. you wont leave hungry!!
It was a wonderful traditional tea. The service was excellent, as was the food. I took my daughter here while visiting the Covent Garden area. She has food allergies, and they were very good about offering alternative foods she could enjoy. It was a perfect addition to our tour of the area.
Nothing to say except LOVE IT, definitely my to go list of afternoon tea every time from now
All that could have been expected and more... down to the unexpected gift at the end. This was quintessential high tea at its luxurious best. Thank you!
Wife is a bit of a connoisseur of afternoon teas and thought this was as good as the best (Claridges). Staff terrific. Particular thanks to the young lady from Melbourne.
Had an excellent champagne tea in very atmospheric and classic surroundings
Attentive but unobtrusive service with explanations about the historical significance of the food and beverages. Thoroughly recommend
We booked for the queen of the afternoon teas.. The lady who welcomed us (I believe her name was Jennifer?) was extremely kind and served us very well. The selection of tea sandwiches and delicacies were very tasty! The various teas we tasted, the complimentary glass of champagne, as well as the luxury location, finished up this special experience. We surely do this again whenever we come to London!
A very enjoyable afternoon tea, my wife and I thought the experience and the venue was excellent.
The server was excellent. Very professional, friendly, and cute. The venue is gorgeous. A very fancy atmosphere. Live piano music. The selection of teas was fantastic and the engraved menu was nice. The sandwiches and scones were yummy, the desserts were good. Very expensive but worth it for one time in my life
The food and service were impeccable! The best part of our trip. We were able to have more than one kind of tea, offered extra sandwiches, scones and desserts. Piano playing in the background. It was really enjoyable.
Too many non residents wondering around made us feel unsafe very Muslim orientated upper bar, notnreally for us
We had tea at the Oscar Wilde tea room and it was fabulous. Staff were friendly and the ambience was excellent. Beautiful interior
Over rated high tea. Sitting next to Instagram girls is not contributing to the After tea experience.
Jasmine was lovely 😊 she made the day for us.
It was a bit too dark for a day time tea.
Zack, our waiter, was a delight, great friendly & warm service, lovely recommendations. Memorable experience in London!
Really good experience, nice ambience for a special occasion. Excellent selection of teas, savoury and sweets were really tasty & plenty. Went away feeling more than satisfied with the great time firmly locked in my mind.
This was an amazing experience. Excellent and plentiful food served by knowledgable waiting staff. They even brought a brithday treat for my daughter.
Great experience with this fabulous high tea! Can't wait to come back!
Sunni our waitress and Michael the matte de were perfect hosts and the food and ambience were perfect. A slice of luxury in the centre of the West End and thoroughly recommended. The pianist playing a section of film and television themes was wonderful.
Our server Sandi was amazing. Really friendly and knew her stuff. The items are unlimited so you can get your fill, which was great as the sandwiches were so good! We will be back at Christmas to sample the next menu!
Elegant place with excellent service.
All sandwiches and desserts are delicious.
Thanks for the pianist playing my favorite pieces.
I'll be there again before leave UK journey.
The food was below average, very disappointing for the price. I have had better afternoon tea.
A wonderful experience!! The sandwiches and deserts were plentiful and delicious.
A bit pricey but definitely memorable.
Beautiful setting, attentive staff and delicious food and drink
We have been many times before and return as we are more than happy with the whole experience. The staff are very attentive to our special requirements. I did feel the white bread was a little dry giving impression the sandwiches had been out awhile. The price was higher, and for a non alcoholic afternoon tea is a little on the pricey side. But we thoroughly enjoyed. One other minor comment. Given we have the table for just 2 hours, there is too long a gap at the beginning making a bit of rush at the end
The Oscar Wilde lounge provides a very grand setting for afternoon tea with its baroque decor and endless mirrors. The savouries cakes and palate cleanser were all truly delicious - particularly good were the cheese and asparagus tart, the orange palate cleanser and the little blancmange pastry.
The whole experience was enhanced by the live pianist who played a wide selection of film music whilst we ate, without disturbing the conversation round the table.
Service was of a high, friendly standard.
Why didn’t I give the tea five stars? Two reasons as a coffee drinker I was offered coffee quite happily but my cup was never refilled until I asked for more- tea drinkers however had their own large pot. A Cafetière of coffee would have been a better offering.
Secondly as a tall person I found the seats and table too low and found it hard to get really comfortable.
The service was superb. They couldn't do enough to make us feel welcomed. The food was ok and the tea also weak for my palate. Again, this is personal and some people might enjoy both tea and food. I've been in other tea rooms for the same price range before and although it was expensive, the service saved the day. Lovely pianist as well.
My daughter (15) and I (much older) went to celebrate our birthdays. We had visited this time last year and had enjoyed it so much we couldn’t think of anywhere else we would like to go for afternoon tea. The wonderful opulent surroundings and lovely selection of all that is good for an afternoon tea didn’t disappoint this visit.
We enjoyed just as much as last year, and thought it could easily become our birthday tradition.
This was one of the best afternoon teas I have ever had, beating the Dorchester, and The Plaza, New York (imho). The food was delicious and the service was attentive without being overbearing. There was no problem at all that my friend is vegetarian, they bought out her own selection of sandwiches and they even checked if she was ok with gelatin in case they needed to provide different cakes - she was fine with it. Also when I booked I had mentioned it was for a 40th birthday treat, then to my surprise during the tea they bought out a small plate with chocolates and a candle and presented to my friend while the pianist played happy birthday. It was a perfect way to celebrate the big 4.0. Can not recommend this treat enough.
We had a wonderful afternoon, but I have a question: I thought I had ordered the afternoon tea at a special price: £35 pp lasting up to 31.08., but iI had to pay the ordinary £55. Can you please check that for me? Thank you
It was absolutely mind boggling , the ambiance was very romantic and the service outstanding, worth every penny looking forward to taking the kids next time.
My husband booked for our son and I to have tea there. The decor is classical and beautiful. The staff gave us an excellent service and explained the different sandwiches and cakes. I value the chef qualities to prepare and cook delicious breads and cakes. The comfort of the restaurant, the right temperature and live piano playing was appreciated. Overall, we loved it, we will recommend it and will go back.

Our group of five celebrated our son's 26th birthday here while vacationing in London. The romantic room with its white clothed tables surrounded by gilt and mirrors and live pianist makes you feel like you are dining in a jeweled music box...simply stunning. The staff service was exceptional (particularly Marion) who left nothing unattended and went out of their way to please. Not inexpensive but the food was tasty, champagne delicious and overall a fun, refined experience just off Piccadilly Circus.
Excellent service, food, tea and ambiance.
A really lovely and enjoyable experience. All of the staff we encountered were extremely pleasant and professional. The afternoon tea was lovely however some of the sandwiches were a little dry and wasn’t too keen on the cakes. Beautiful surroundings; very opulent. The table and chairs are VERY low so at nearly 6 foot I found it quite uncomfortable. The pianist was brilliant but was very loud in such a small room and it was sometimes difficult to hold a conversation. Overall I would recommend as a place to visit for a special occasion afternoon tea.
I enjoyed every moment of the afternoon . Everything was just right .
Thank you for making my day special
I do however have a comment about the tea, in my opinion , tea should be served hot , and by the second cup the tea was cold. This did not spoil the day but maybe something you can look into
Cafe Royal was a beautiful setting for my first Afternoon Tea in London. The place setting, ambiance and food were all incredible. There was also a pianist playing music during the tea. You must go!
Fabulous room, very special to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary. Could not quite understand why emphasis was put on "Victorian" tea when so many literary figures have dined there!! Lovely champagne and enjoyed the food very much
Beautiful classy spot! If you are going to London for the first time this is the place to go. It’s worth spending the extra money for a more upscale afternoon tea, the service was outstanding, friendly and certainly not pretentious. They bring you extra finger sandwiches on top of what’s normally service. We left the Oscar Wilde Lounge extremely satisfied!
This was a 40th birthday treat for my sister and it didn’t disappoint. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel very special and this continued throughout. The opulent decor and tinkling piano made for a wonderful atmosphere. The staff were attentive and informative but not overwhelming. The sandwiches were sublime! Who knew cucumber could taste so good? Warm scones were followed by dainty tartlets and cakes and all topped off with tea and champagne, wonderful! The pianist starting playing ‘Happy Birthday to You’ and my sister was presented with a couple of candlelit chocolates on a plate with ‘Happy Birthday’ in chocolate sauce, which was a lovely touch. I would highly recommend afternoon tea at Cafe Royal - all in all a very special day and a massive thank you to everyone who made it so.
