We came here for my Sisters family hen do (which was a surprise for her) and we had great service and a lovely afternoon tea. They catered for my Sister’s gluten allergies and it was also family friendly for my 90 year old Nan. Recommended for a special occasion.
A proper afternoon tea was on my bucket list. This was the ideal location. The ambiance was over the top, which was perfect. The tea and nibbles were delightful. Multiple choices of both. If you’ve always wanted to experience afternoon tea in London, this is the place!
A lovely afternoon tea experience; beautiful surrounding, brilliant service and great atmosphere. I would highly recommend it.
The PERFECT High Tea!
A gorgeous room with exceptional teas, sandwiches,DeSeta and scones. Wonderful piano player, attentive and kind waiter. Truly unforgettable.
We had afternoon tea, with a glass of champagne, and it was superb. How anyone can make a finger sandwich so tasty is a mystery. And such fabulous patisserie, fresh and full of spring flavours. Our waiter, Joseph, was excellent, and the room so atmospheric, just divine. We have nothing to compare it to, though, but we would recommend it, and would return. A beautiful, memorable experience to celebrate a special birthday, from a couple who wish they could do this more often.
The room was beautiful. The moment you walk in, you can already smell the beautiful scent of Diptyque candles. The afternoon tea was one of the most pleasant experiences I've had in London, and they have quiet a wonderful selection of teas. The staff are very nice and attentive to your needs as well.
Excellent. Fresh delicious sandwiches. House Made clotted cream. Scones almost cake like with a soft texture. Superb service and the pianist is excellent.
Beautiful, ornate venue with a twist of history! (Apparently Oliver Wilde frequented the place way back when.) Attentive service and lovely food with amazing tea options, which you can switch out a number of times.
The food was good and so too was the standard of service. However, seating was rather low, compared to actual chairs, which made it awkward to sit and stand up. Together with the small print and the subdued lighting, there was some difficulty reading the menu. Nonetheless, we would return again. The hotel service staff were friendly, welcoming not pretentious at all. I would recommend Cafe Royal.
Have been here twice, the first time was great while the service was not up to standard the second time when the tea room was more crowded. Waiters would urge you to leave and clean the table for next customers even when you have not finished your cakes and tea. The tea room was stunning. Food and teas were tasty.
Amazing afternoon in a stunning venue. The wait staff were very friendly and the live piano player was a great addition.
We had afternoon tea to celebrate my Wife’s 40th birthday. The service was exceptional, the room is stunning and the food was simply the best afternoon tea we’ve had from tea choices to the sandwiches and the cakes. Nothing was too much trouble from our waitress who was brilliant especially when accommodating and interacting with our 7yr old daughter! I can’t recommend the experience highly enough!
We have tried many of London's "5 star" afternoon teas, but this one, alas, just does not measure up. Our waiter was distracted, or poorly trained, although the rest of the staff were truly lovely and skilled. The biggest let down was the sandwiches, which were skimpy and uninteresting (e.g. cheese and tomato - for £45??). The fillings were so scarce it was difficult to tell what the sandwiches actually were. After an awkward interaction with the waiter, in which we asked for the sandwiches to be replenished, he came back with a small plate containing 4 little sandwich fingers (there were five of us at the table!). Scones were delicious. Pastries were fine - not remarkable. Table was too cramped, despite the cafe being half empty. The offer of take away boxes at the end was a nice touch. All in all, we felt it was quite poor value and were, unfortunately, disappointed.
Wonderful Afternoon Tea! Perfect setting!! Brilliant pianist!!! Excellent staff!!!! THANKS
wonderful food, amazing teas, incredible ambiance and really great service made this special treat even more special. It is pricey but it is a special treat that you should give yourself if you are thinking of going for high tea.
Exceptional Service, great live music and unlimited sandwiches and tea pots! A rarity for afternoon tea.
A wonderful afternoon tea with my daughter. The service was outstanding and the tea and cakes delicious. Great location too and well worth visiting the cafe next door for take home treats.
Just outstanding Afternoon Tea!
Perfect service and fantastic enviroment!
Great environment and very friendly for families! Great cakes
was excellent! will certainly go back for the sandwiches
My mum and I had afternoon tea at Cafe Royal on my birthday. It was an amazing experience and although it is very dear it was well worth the money. We were served by Joseph who made recommendations in relation the teas and also gave us the option to change ingredients in the sandwichs that we may be allergic to or simply just don't like. There were quite a few items which I wasn't fond of so I was grateful for this. Joseph was very attentive and made the whole experience even better. I told the waitress who bought us to the table that we were celebrating my birthday. They arranged for the pianist to play me happy birthday and they brought out chocolates with a candle. This added to the amazing experience. We were seated at the far end of the restaurant so we had a wonderful view of the entire restaurant. My mum and I will definitely be returning again, Joseph mentioned that their menu's are seasonal so it would be lovely to try something different whilst enjoying the same ambience.
Excellent choice for a mothers' day afternoon tea (belated). We all loved it, very inventive menu, service and attention to detail was great. Choice of teas and unlimited tries was fantastic. Perfect sized and gorgeous sandwiches. Dipthyque themed cakes with scents were delicious. a very opulent rococo style tearoom with mirrors everywhere and a pianist made the occasion feel very special.
It's best to go to gloomy weather, where it rains and blows all day long! Instead of a gloomy window view, romantic afternoon tea which is staying golden mirror room with hearing live piano plays haveing a nice tea time make us magic tricks to help us forget the time and space.
Afternoon tea at the Hotel Cafe Royal was wonderful! the setting was beautiful. It was reminiscent of the salons you see in Paris. The service was outstanding, they were very attentive and helpful. The quality of the sandwiches, scones, and desserts were amazing, and the tea selection was extensive. Overall a very lovely place to enjoy afternoon tea of anyone and everyone.
A memorable afternoon, lovely ambiance, wide selection of exclusive teas and delicacies. The service was tremendous, the staff made it a very enjoyable and pleasant experience.
Really nice setting with cosy interiors and live piano music, professional service, outstanding tea experience and tasty treats!
An ideal venue to feel special on a special occasion.
Service is excellent, surroundings spectacular and the piano man really does add a touch of class.
Went for afternoon tea and the food was in keeping with the standards set.
Lovely afternoon Tea for my daughters birthday. Would recommend and visit again.
Great experience !!!Love Love Love it!!!Tea,food and service was amazing!
Booked afternoon tea for my mother and grandmother as a Mother's Day gift.
Disappointed to find out staff demanded payment from them on the day - despite having my card details and were able to charge my card in the event of a no-show.
Never had this problem with other hotels and so will not be using Hotel Café Royal again.
Lovely tea, great service, beautiful room.
Made a young teen very happy on her London visit.
Beautiful little bites in an amazing room, very good variety of teas, sandwiches and cakes
Really lovely experience, great food and great service. The piano player was excellent and his music really added to the ambiance. Great place for a special afternoon tea. The hotel is really beautiful.
I treated my friend to afternoon tea as a special treat as a "hen celebration". It was a wonderful occasion, the room is gorgeous , the food and the ambience created a special event feeling.
The staff were attentive and tea flowed. Would love to go again.
So amazing for afternoon tea - great service, food.. and tea
Afternoon Tea was fantastic, a good selection of sandwiches followed by warm scones and delicate cakes. Everything looked delicious and tasted so also. I would highly recommend this location for Afternoon Tea and value for money.
Pesimo. Carisimo y los scones y postres feisimos. Nunca mas. Me aenti supee estafada. Fortnum and mason vale mas la pena
Not quite as elegant or mind blowing as it uses to be. You pay a lot of money for more froth than substance. Portions are very small and no longer a spectacle.
I booked afternoon tea for my daughter’s 16th birthday and the whole family thought it was fabulous! The service was impeccable, the tea was fresh & tasty, the atmosphere was cosy, intimate & plush. There was no pressure to leave after our 1.5 hour slot. We all preferred it to tea at the Ritz! Highly recommended.
