Beautiful place for an afternoon tea stunning room & attentive service
I thought the whole experience of Afternoon Tea was exceptional.
My bride and I were treated like royalty by all staff but especially by Roberta. Her service was truly excellent.
Well done the Cafe Royal. 👌
The service was excellent ,as was the setting with piano music it made the special occasion our anniversary really special. I did like that they asked if we had any allergies. The sandwiches seemed a bit plain to me nothing really special, there were too many cakes for my liking this is just my opinion.
Having been to other hotels for afternoon tea I would not rush back here.
I had a really nice afternoon for a friend's birthday, we took our time and spent about 2 hours. I really liked the sandwiches, so it was nice they offered more. I especially liked the general atmosphere as the room is so gorgeous and the live piano was lovely, I was happy to hear the Harry Potter theme, some Lion King and some Les Mis playing. They very kindly brought out a couple of chocolates with a candle for my friend too.
Wonderful experience! I can't wait to return. We were there for afternoon tea early on in the day and the live music was a sweet treat!
Tucked away in the hotel is the tea room. Will definitely return every time I'm in London.
Absolutely wonderful place for high tea, the sandwiches and desserts are superb, extensive tea selection, and fantastic service in a beautiful setting.
Fabulous venue and amazing afternoon tea, highly recommend
Gorgeous setting- over the top! Lovely service. Their attention to our daughters’ nut-free and vegetarian needs were amazing!
First afternoon tea in London and mother’s 75th belated birthday.
Charming and quaint atmosphere with a talented pianist
The best Afternoon Tea EVER! We were greeted by all the staff who were so friendly. Our waiter was brilliant and really added to our experience with his knowledge and help. The food was brilliant and enhanced by the choice of teas. Afternoon tea is served in a beautiful room with comfy chairs and a lovely ambience. You didn't feel rushed at all. Which was good because you needed time to eat all the lovely cakes. I have just on criticism and that was the Pianist. He played some lovely music but it was quite loud which made chatting sometimes a bit difficult. Background sound levels would have been much better.
I would still highly recommend Cafe Royal for Afternoon Tea. Perfect!
Just an all round wonderful experience, can't say anymore or recommend it enough!!
Wonderful experience, terrific sandwiches and tea. Delightful service!
From entering the Royal Cafe the service was absolutely amazing. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The waiteress that we had was a young blonde female ( sorry I forgot her name ) but she was so helpful , patient and extremely knowledgeable about everything on the menu. She made our experience exceptional. Food 10/10 . Scenery 10/10. Entertainment 10/10 and Luxury Service 10/10. I have added this Cafe to my restaurant list (making it one of top 5 favourites out off 100) which I will be sharing on social media platforms. I will definitely recommend others to come.
Easily one of the highlights of our trip to London! This was a spectacular experience, albeit an expensive one. Still, we would highly recommend it to anybody wishing to have afternoon high tea!
Overall the experience was great. The food was well presented and delicious and we had plenty of refills to satisfy our large appetites.
Archie, out waiter was very attentive and did his best to meet our every need.
Two comments I was slightly less impressed with were, firstly as two tall individuals we found the chair and bed-side table like table quite restricting. My partner was unable to sit comfortably.
We were also unhappy with the £5 charge for water we were given having been asked 'still or sparkling?' upon arrival. We would assume this would be included in the price and were left feeling a little cheated.
Would recommend this to others but would prefer if the price was all inclusive.
We greatly enjoyed the beauty and character of this wonderful room. Our server was exceptional and the tea was great too!
Went for the champagne afternoon tea and it was really lovely. Option to have refills of any of the food which meant potions were not outrageous to begin with (something which often puts me off of afternoon tea). The ambience was very relaxed and elegant with a pianist playing and the room was beautiful. Fully recommend. Also very accommodating of vegetarian requirements and did not feel I missed out on anything. There was a full veg menu, something which afternoon teas often do poorly, and I was impressed with the attention to detail
Very disappointed with the service. Cannot fault the food, which was beautiful. I would suggest you go somewhere that provides an excellent service, like Claridges or The Goring Or Browns.
The staff was extremely nice and polite. They even got the chef to make cucumber sandwiches for my young niece. They also brought out mini pralines with a candle saying happy birthday for my sister as we were celebrating. Will definitely go back when I am in London next!
Very tasty and delicate presented afternoon tea. Calm escape from busy London streets.
Great ambience and service! Definitely recommend
The decor in the room for afternoon tea was beautiful. The service was fantastic. The selection of food was delish. Truly great afternoon tea.
Amazing experience in one of the most beautiful of London. Everything was a delight, from the entry, to the service and the afternoon tea itself.
no waitress help me add some tea when I try to have a eye contact with waitress. I don't know why they react so late. Anyway, tea is really good and I quite enjoy the environment and legends (I mean Oscar). Some dessert is good but some not. The muffin on sandwich shelf is not good since you didn't tell us that is goat cheese----my friend does't eat any goat thing.
Decadent room for afternoon tea, full of ambiance and mirrors.
Went to afternoon tea for a friends birthday. Great live piano music and they even played Happy Birthday on the piano! I thoroughly enjoyed the tea options and scones.
This was a special occasion and both my guest and I were delighted. The staff were friendly and attentive and the selection of food was beautifully presented, in an impressive setting.
I purchased afternoon tea for my parents and myself as a present to celebrate my Mum’s birthday. It’s safe to say that we all thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The setting was exquisite and I can’t fault the food/tea selections at all. Me being the only vegetarian, I was expecting to have to identify which items I could eat. The service was incredible as I was provided with my own selection of vegetarian sandwiches and cakes, whilst my parents shared the non vegetarian option. The pianist made for an even more special setting. Will definitely be back again!
Wonderful and the best service !
The room is glamorous. Services are nice and sweet. A great place to taste classic afternoon tea.
Excellent value afternoon tea. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Staff are welcoming and courteous. The Oscar Wilde room is unique and has a great ambiance. No loud music just softly played piano, so easy to converse. Beautifully prepared and tasty food. Absolutely loved the experience and will definitely return.
the setting was stunning with mirrored walls and gold moulding. great staff and delicious teas
Lovely tea with plenty of sandwiches and beautiful cakes, amuse bouche and palate cleanser included, fabulous surroundings (wraparound gilt mirrors and paintings and atmospherically lit) and beautiful piano playing. A real treat! Would definitely return and would thoroughly recommend to others.
Great mood, Best service, food, staffs, especially teas!!
Wonderful experience at the Hotel Cafe Royal.
It was the first afternoon tea for me, staffs were very kind, eased my mind.
I recommend the Hotel Cafe Royal for the afternoon tea place!!
Absolutely fabulous place that was completely faultless. Afternoon tea was delicious, staff were impeccable - all set in an absolutely gorgeous venue.
A wonderful afternoon tea in the Oscar Wilde room. The setting was beautiful, the food was delicious and the service was fantastic. Having had afternoon tea at the Ritz, Claridges, The Dorchester and Fortum and Mason I would highly recommend this afternoon as being up there with the best.
We enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea, in an amazing room. Waiting staff attentive.
How ever being asked if we would like 'water's but not being advised it would be £5.00 a bottle was a bit naughty in my opinion. Didn't find out until we got the bill.
The piano player was good but a little too loud.
There were too many tables in the room and if it had been full i think this would have been a problem.
Overall i would recommend this place, we had a lovely afternoon but for the above mentioned reasons i have given Hotel Cafe Royal 4 *
Everything about the visit was more than I could have wished for to celebrate my Daughters 40th birthday. The staff were lovely and very informative and attentative throughout the visit. The food was so delicious, certainly the best afternoon tea I have ever experienced. The decor and ambience was beautiful. And, we were offered a box of the cakes we couldn't manage to eat to take home ! My only criticism was the cost of a bottle of water at £5.
