   One of the cakes was very very hard and stale so was not pleasant to eat. All other cakes were very nice. However they had obviously been kept in the fridge and gone soggy In places . However the scones were amazing. Best scones I have ever eaten. Unfortunately I was told on the phone that a gluten free menu was available (not afternoon tea) but when we arrived the only thing available was fries, the lady did not understand what I meant by gluten free So 2 of us had afternoon tea whilst the 3rd person had fries and if we had known we would of gone elsewhere. We do not expect everyone to cater for allergies hence why we called first. It was ok but nothing more. Staff very friendly

   While the hotel itself is lovely and steeped in music history, the photos of the rock and roll brunch were far more appealing online than in reality. Food was mediocre and not as fun as the photos they advertised. As for service, at times we were the only ones In the restaurant. Still, no one came by to check on us after our food was delivered. Not once. For the price, have a proper tea at a traditional tea house.

   This was a Rock and Roll themed tea made relevant because of the Gore's connection with the Rolling Stones. Good selection of teas, sandwiches - they were unusual and all delicious, scones- they were light and fluffy and came with a selection of jams and clotted cream, cakes - they were all imaginative and very tasty. Overall, a very pleasant way to spend and afternoon and I'd recommend it.

   A fabulous idea for a theme and a great hotel but I wasn’t impressed. The service was slow and we were left waiting to order our teas for a good 10 minutes. Asking for refills or the bill was also really slow, despite being pretty much the only customers. Food didn’t seem freshly made, sandwiches and scones were dry, and there was so many sweet things to eat but hardly anything savoury that even the most sweet toothed person in our group started to feel a bit sick.

   The Gore is a truly lovely hotel & bar/restaurant, with a distinct classic vibe to it, and with the added twist of some genuine Rock&Roll history they seem to both cherish and enhance. The "R&R Afternoon Tea" is a delicious combination of excellent quality sandwiches, mini-treats, sweets and teas, served with some really tasteful music stars themed decoration. Moreover, the feeling is underlined by the excellent background music selection - no aggressive Top40 radio or bland elevator muzak instrumentals playing here, it's all well chosen classic rock great songs (Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, etc)! The only minor downfall was that the restaurant/tea room was a bit overbusy with the otherwise super kind and classy staff coming & going and having what appeared to be staff meetings & chats behind the bar area. The prices, in case you wondered, are 5 star - just like the hotel is!

    This was such a fun experience for our family! We were blown away by the customer service and presentation of food/tea during the afternoon rock 'n roll tea. The staff was extremely accommodating - we ended up getting there early on a rainy day and instead of sending us back out into the elements, they set up early for us without any hesitation. The food was delicious, the tea was perfect and my family and I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a fun themed tea in London.

    I thought I had booked a Winnie the Pooh themed afternoon tea, as I had found it online and thought this would be perfect for my daughters birthday treat. When we arrived it appeared not to be and when I questioned it, the gentleman knew nothing about it. My booking did say afternoon tea so I couldn't argue, I should have checked and queried when I booked it online. The afternoon tea was lovely, although not great for my 12 year old, who didn't like most of the sandwiches. The cakes were lovely with lot's of choice but the scones were doughy in the middle. I ordered water for my daughter without checking the price. £5.00 for a bottle of water???? Plus the £8.00 service charge, it came to£73.00 for afternoon tea for myself and my 12 year old who hardly touched it. I definitely would not recommend due to this. I know £30 ahead is average for afternoon tea, but I thought I was getting something more suitable for my daughter which I would have been happy to pay for. Had I of known, there is no way I would have booked it, and no way I would have ordered a bottle of water at £5.00. Whilst the service was fine they didn't do much and we were the only ones there, so no atmosphere. I can't fault the restaurant, staff or food apart from the doughy scones. It was just a very lot of money, and I left feeling disappointed and ripped off.

    The hotel, look and atmosphere are truly stunning. Tea, scones and desserts were great, however, sandwiches are same as in Tesco. Waiter did not have any knowledge of what he was serving, so our tea pots were messed up among 5 people and we ended up exchanging them between us. Had to ask for jams... finally paid around £250 for 3 adults and 2 children. Strongly disagree that 3 pieces of Tesco sandwiches, a pot of tea and a few desserts per person should cost that much.

    Gorgeous food, but it felt like they’d never catered for an afternoon tea before. We were the only guests and didn’t get much attention, no drinks orders until asked, not asked throughout meal. We were asked to make room on the table for the food as they had no space to place it, but the only items on the table were the ones they’d set. The barman was very helpful and friendly, we had a lovely drink in the bar side before hand. And the gentleman who served us during tea was very pleasant, but it just didn’t feel relaxing.

    Nothing was too much trouble! The chef prepared some special nut free items at the last minute which were delicious ambience and food and a lovely range of teas. Highly recommended!

    We were the only people there so no atmosphere. Was not offered more sandwiches had to ask for more tea. Had a glass of champagne which they charged us £15 for each glass was not offered a top up at all. They also charged for the water. Was not made to feel special at all. I was reall disappointed as I work really hRd for my money and the bill came to £106 as service was added. Feel really sad.

    The afternoon tea was disappointing. Sandwiches were basic. Scones were crisp like a digestive biscuit. Previous day's bake reheated? Jams were in jars that can be bought at any supermarket. I would have expected home made at that calibre of hotel. The speciality teas were named after famous actresses i.e. Judy Garland. We asked if she had stayed at the hotel (she had). The waitress didn't know. The pots of tea were brought to the table but we weren't told which was which as we had a different tea each. It was teabags not loose tea. This was our 27th afternoon tea in and around London. It rated pretty low. As we left we asked about Daniel Galmiche (The michelin starred chef at the hotel). The concierge didn't know who he was but, offered to check the staff rota to see if he worked there. Really!

    The Gore is such a fantastic location in the heart of London. This has been my third visit so far and I plan to come back again and again. Fantastic service from the team who have recognised me and my party on all our visits so far.

    Location was great. Food was ok. Service was poor. Food was put in table no follow up to see if we were ok. When we asked for more tea, waitress gave us a glare and sighed . Restaurant was due to close at 5pm. From 4.15pm there was just 2 of us left. 3 waiters came to hover around table preparing tables for evening, switched off the music and kept looking at their watches. Very unwelcoming and we will not return

    Table and ambience was very nice however the afternoon tea was only mediocre. Lots of it, almost too much I'd say but nothing extra special. We had pre-warned that one guest was gluten free however the waiter appeared very surprised and said he'd have to see what the chef could do. Staff were not very attentive and didn't ask once if everything was ok. We were not offered any drinks other than tea and for the price, we didn't feel that we'd had anything memorable; just a normal, plain afternoon tea, which was slightly disappointing.

    I had a lovely afternoon tea with friends here, but the hotel failed to wow me as expected. The room in which tea was served was a bit dark and we had to turn lights on ourselves and music initially was quite loud. Despite our reservation and specifically stating that we were there for afternoon tea the staff did not seem prepared for that at all. If you asked for something they were attentive, but otherwise they were mostly absent, or doing other things, like quite loudly cleaning cutlery or at least not actively serving tea. There was lots of food and generally it was nice, but the sandwiches were not freshly cut and the scones were a bit dry. A nice tea, but I expected more from this.
