To be honest I wa not expecting such a spectacularly delightful experience - very good tea, plentiful hot water, unlimited sandwiches and cakes , terrific scones, optional champagne . A very nice room and great service - I’ll go again ( however , not cheap, but certainly worth the money ! )

STANDARDS ARE SLIPPING!

Returned to the Lanesborough for afternoon tea last week and was sorely disappointed... Spent around £200 amongst the three of us on a very minimalistic affair (not in a good way). Limited choices of sandwiches and sweets with average taste. Had much better overall experience at the Savoy, the Corinthia and even the Four Seasons. Certainly expected more from the Lanesborough!

The service was even more concerning. The tea room staff had no situational awareness and constantly interrupted our conversations. They showed little flexibility and no initiative - Having forgotten to take the promotional offer into account, they refused to adjust the final bill. With my guests around, I didn't wish to make a fuss about that but it was highly embarrassing and completely avoidable.

I will be writing to the manager separately and unlikely to return there any time soon.

The Lanesborough continues to offer one of London's best Afternoon Teas, served in the beautiful, airy and spacious surroundings of the Celeste Restaurant with its 18th century decoration, embellished with pale blue Wedgwood motifs, and glass roof.

Especially notable is the friendliness of the welcome and the excellent, unobtrusive service throughout the meal. At around £50 per head, this is on par with other 5 star London establishments but worth the money if you want to spend two hours in luxurious surroundings and be looked after in splendid style.

A very nice setting for afternoon tea, food good, perhaps over generous with sandwiches. Maybe a little more care when serving tea giving time to develop flavour.

Beautiful surroundings. The sandwiches could have been a tad more exciting - really pretty basic and not what I'd have expected from this venue, there is so much more you can do with small savories and sandwhiches! The desserts were of course amazing, if you hace a sweet tooth. The sconnes were small and not really warm to the touch. Otherwise a lovely experience.

Very interesting variation on High Tea with a Mexican twist (this month). Sweets were superb, as was variety of teas. Setting was stunning & service great. Only drawback was bland sandwiches, two with stale bread. Other than that, perfect!

We had high expectations of the Frida Khalo inspired afternoon tea before our visit to her exhibition. Although very pleasant it didn't quite meet our expectations for quality , inspirations and presentation. Some of the sandwiches were dry and not as dainty as expected. The cake display was sparse . The teas chosen were pleasant but we were not approached for refills or if we would prefer a different choice. The setting was very nice . Had a nice table around the main centre seating area and the piano playing was enjoyable .

I absolutely love the afternoon tea here! The service is second to none, and the food is delicious. I've done the traditional tea and their most recent, the Frida Kahlo-inspired tea. Both were absolutely fantastic. I also like that different types of guests are welcomed, from the very dressed up to the large families. The vibe is very welcoming and not at all pretentious, yet still very refined and classy.

It is the year in a row that I celebrate my partner’s birthday there. The Afternoon Tea in celebration of Frida Khalo was really interesting and we also had a flight of tequilas. The waiters were very attentive and the pianist very kindly played ‘happy birthday to you’ as my request when I booked the table.
It’s definitely good value for money as the ambience is beautiful and you can request more sandwiches and teas as you please. Live piano songs are a huge bonus too!

Afternoon tea should be a special affair--filled with tasty treats and little luxuries. The Lanesborough has this combination perfectly. The room is gorgeous, the food unexpectedly delicious, and the service warm and attentive. Warning: Save room for the desserts! The pastries are to die for and we couldn't finish ours. When we go back, we'll skip one of the sandwiches!

An absolutely lovely room, cool and calm, with live piano music during tea time. Tea comes with a nice sandwich assortment and dessert tower with warm scones and a wide variety of adorable sweets. They were very accommodating of a nut allergy in our party, modifying the sandwiches and substituting several different nut-free desserts (a sorbet, a fruit assortment, a custard). The Lanesborough tea blend was very nice. We felt completely comfortable to lounge at our table for hours enjoying the experience.
