Stunning ambience with beautiful decor and live piano playing. The service was lovely. Definitely a treat.
Gorgeous environment. Magnificent sweets. The coronation chicken sandwich - ❤️! Fabulous tea and wonderful service. Elegant and lovely.
Lovely setting. Excellent service. Celeste is a jewel—remembering us from a previous visit and making certain our Birthday event received special care-including my request for Cole Porter tunes being played by the accomplished pianist that afternoon.
Afternoon tea was beyond amazing; the Coronation Chicken was out of this world! Not to mention the scones were flavorful and moist; topped them with the strawberry preserves and clotted cream and I was in heaven. Will highly recommend this as the top spot for Afternoon tea to friends visiting London! Truly luxury at its finest.
This restaurant is totally messed up.
I booked a table for afternoon tea initially through open table but my ideal time wasn’t on there then (we wanted to have afternoon tea for lunch ideally) so I asked them about their availability of the earlier time than my booking time -14:30, which was the earliest available time of the day online, by email directly with the details of my online booking and our preference of the time politely.
Allegedly their afternoon tea time normally starts at 14:30 weekdays, 12:30 weekends.
We wanted to have it on bank holiday Monday, but they told me that it’s still Monday and one of weekdays according to their rules(?) surprisingly, so the earliest available time is 14:30 like other regular Monday.
I told them that because of our flight time, we will have to leave for Heathrow at around 15:00, so we can’t make 14:30, so I asked about Sunday (before the day) and they quickly found a table for us at 13:15, which was perfect time for lunch and I was really glad and appreciated it.
But I found my original booking made through open table was still there as it was, not modified the details or cancelled, so I asked them to edit it or I’d cancel it myself.
They kindly modified it, but wrong number of people (which was quite important for us as we were 5 in total and booking details said 4people. 4 and 5 is a big difference, not like 3 and 4, I think), so I wanted to make sure if my booking went through right, and next response astonishingly answered totally wrong date and number of people, which I had no idea about.
Additionally surprisingly, after I pointed it out, they sent me, all of sudden, the confirmation with wrong time -14:30(!).
I just asked them how to deal with my original booking that still existed on open table, which I believe they should have amended even before I asked.
I had no idea why I spent some time emailing them for nothing. To book just afternoon tea!
So this experience discouraged me to visit them again.
Staff made the afternoon really great, it was my partners birthday and Helena specifically made sure it was special
I was very much looking forward to an afternoon of tasty decadence to celebrate my 40th, especially after a pleasant call to reconfirm the table and the fact that it was a birthday celebration the day before. We were sorely disappointed.
A few good points: a beautiful dining room and good seats for people-watching. The scones and pastries were delicious and perfectly executed and the Lanesborough Afternoon Tea blend proved a refreshing accompaniment to them. Service on arrival was faultless and we felt like royalty at first, but that was short-lived.
Plates of sandwiches with beautiful edible floral decorations bypassed us and we were just served rather bland sandwiches with no themed decoration. There was no sign of the promised tea sommelier and it all felt rather perfunctory. I felt we didn't see the same waiter/waitress twice, our empty champagne glasses were whisked away without the offer of a refill (we'd have happily accepted) and we had to intercept a passing waiter to request a fresh pot of tea. It was brought without clean cups (first pot was the Lanesborough Afternoon Tea, we opted for the insipid Earl Grey the second time), a rather basic omission. It sounds pretentious but given the quality implied and cost of the whole meaI, I was disappointed they used teabags instead of loose leaf tea. Once the pastries had been served, nobody bothered to check if we’d like more tea, water, anything else. We were sat next to the waiters’ station & kitchen exit so impossible to miss us. And the “special something to mark the occasion of my birthday” promised by the kind chap who called me on Friday never appeared.
Completely underwhelmed by the whole disappointing experience, we eventually flagged down another waiter for the bill. I wish I’d been less British and refused to pay the service charge but I just wanted to leave. I won’t be returning nor recommending this venue to anyone. What a shame.
An absolute delight to experience High Tea at the Lanesbrough. It is so very stylish and civilised. Thank you.
it is not just about the food, but the overall experience. I felt as if I jumped in time and went somewhere in Russia ... St Petersbug, Hermitage, having tea with the royalty
What an amazing and classy place for afternoon tea! I have been to a handful of afternoon teas in London and the Lanesborough was hands down the best! I highly recommend the Lanesborough for tea!! THe staff was great and so was the food and tea. Very authentic afternoon tea right on Hyde Park Corner! Would absolutely go again.
It was lovely and quite we have lovely finger sandwiches, followed by scones and lovely cakes the lanesborough afternoon tea blend was lovely
Would highly recommend this for a special tea
Treated like royalty the second we walked through the door of The Lanesborough. The setting, ambience, food and service was impeccable. Will definitely be back.
Delightful! Such lovely surroundings, gorgeous afternoon tea. Simply the best afternoon tea in London.
Highly recommended. Amazing setting. Beautiful room. Attentive staff (on the whole). Quality food. Lovely afternoon.
To be honest I wa not expecting such a spectacularly delightful experience - very good tea, plentiful hot water, unlimited sandwiches and cakes , terrific scones, optional champagne . A very nice room and great service - I’ll go again ( however , not cheap, but certainly worth the money ! )
It was really amazaing experience for me!!! I love this place!!!
Fantastic service and a beautiful room. We loved our afternoon tea it's was delicious.
Great for afternoon tea.
We love lanesborough, always feel it’s the best in london
STANDARDS ARE SLIPPING!
Returned to the Lanesborough for afternoon tea last week and was sorely disappointed... Spent around £200 amongst the three of us on a very minimalistic affair (not in a good way). Limited choices of sandwiches and sweets with average taste. Had much better overall experience at the Savoy, the Corinthia and even the Four Seasons. Certainly expected more from the Lanesborough!
The service was even more concerning. The tea room staff had no situational awareness and constantly interrupted our conversations. They showed little flexibility and no initiative - Having forgotten to take the promotional offer into account, they refused to adjust the final bill. With my guests around, I didn't wish to make a fuss about that but it was highly embarrassing and completely avoidable.
I will be writing to the manager separately and unlikely to return there any time soon.
The Lanesborough continues to offer one of London's best Afternoon Teas, served in the beautiful, airy and spacious surroundings of the Celeste Restaurant with its 18th century decoration, embellished with pale blue Wedgwood motifs, and glass roof.
Especially notable is the friendliness of the welcome and the excellent, unobtrusive service throughout the meal. At around £50 per head, this is on par with other 5 star London establishments but worth the money if you want to spend two hours in luxurious surroundings and be looked after in splendid style.
I had the most amazing afternoon tea at the Lanesborough. Everything was impeccable and perfect.
Beautiful room and a classic and refined tea. Very enjoyable.
The food and tea was delicious. Service was excellent!
Outstanding ambience, food and service. One of the best afternoon teas in London.
The staff in the restaurant were lovely. A lovely pianist too! We appreciated the whole experience
A very nice setting for afternoon tea, food good, perhaps over generous with sandwiches. Maybe a little more care when serving tea giving time to develop flavour.
A beautiful afternoon, atmosphere was perfect. The service was incredible and food was lovely. Deffo recommend for sure.
Great atmosphere, the choir singing on the day was an added bonus. Had a great catch up with friends whilst feeling spoilt with an array of beautiful sandwiches , delicate cakes and freshly baked scones. Gorgeous surroundings and excellent service.
Staff were super friendly and food came out quickly!!
Amazing place for afternoon tea and very beautiful
Perfection. We all loved it. Group of 7 of us including one child. The good was heavenly as was the ambience. Will definitely return. Many thanks.
Beautiful surroundings. The sandwiches could have been a tad more exciting - really pretty basic and not what I'd have expected from this venue, there is so much more you can do with small savories and sandwhiches! The desserts were of course amazing, if you hace a sweet tooth. The sconnes were small and not really warm to the touch. Otherwise a lovely experience.
This is one of the most classy and sophisticated venues for very classy afternoon teas ... it’s style and culture rolled into one. Such a pleasure to be at this place. Thank you.
I took my friend for afternoon tea here for her birthday and we had a fantastic afternoon. It was excellent as always! Great food, outstanding service and lovely atmosphere.
Sandwiches where not very appetising. Some beers where dry. Pannacotta was jelly like.
