I would highly recommend the Ting. The food and service were amazing. Perfect for a special occasion.
The location is fantastic with the seating next to windows so you can enjoy the views while relaxing and eating. The afternoon tea is really well done with sandwiches, cakes, desserts and scones. There is plenty to eat, all tastes amazing and additional sandwiches etc are offered. The service is really attentive. I’ve been twice and know I will go back again.
Lovely Hotel, great welcome at the door but then let down by poor welcome inside Hotel, very poor service (had to ask to move table) sat right next to another couple. No eye contact from any member of staff and all were busy talking amongst themselves - including the managers.
Food was great, but for the price wasnt expecting poor service.
Asked for the service charge to be removed, we were so disappointed!
Service was outstanding. Food was delicious. Would not hesitate to recommend.
For us the afternoon tea at Ting was too expensive for what it was.
Felt very special here. The service was excellent and it was a wonderful treat for me and my teenage daughters
Waiting staff was very slow. had to wait a long time for teas to come. waited so long that i started to eat my sandwiches. also had to wait far too long for tea top ups. I started to eat cakes long before i normally would do. We asked for another glass of Champagne had to wait so long for that after over half an hour/ 45 mins later we ended up telling them not to bother.
they also hoovered during our session which makes you feel unwelcome.
would not recommend this to anyone. views were good but that was it.
the afternoon tea experience was not good.
The view is great, service is amazing , food is normal but valuable for 60 refill anything from the menu 👍🏻 overall I have a great day
Restaurant is beautifully appointed with lovely furnishings and the most amazing views across London, the staff are exceptional and make you feel very pampered and the food was amazing.
The only thing that spoilt the experience was was the cleaning staff vacuuming the restaurant while we where still trying to enjoy our afternoon tea
Ting has the ambience, view and food to be stunning. However, it’s such a shame their service is so awful and chaotic.
The table greeters are stuck up and simply not helpful. We were early for our table, asked where we can wait and have a drink, the representative shrugged and said you can try the bar on 52nd Floor. We go up to Gong, are told there is no space at the bar even though plenty of tables were free. Bearing in mind we are there to wait for our table and have a glass of Champagne, we shouldn’t be too much trouble. We’re told there is nothing they can do, nowhere to go apart from coffee shops on ground floor. We return to Ting, nothing they can do. Then 30 feet away near hotel reception (same floor as Ting) we see a table and some seats, can we sit here? Yes of course, can we get coffee while we wait? Yes of course. Why couldn’t the person that works here have told us about this, standing less than 30 ft away? No idea.
Is it just me or when paying £400 for 3 of us to have afternoon tea with some champagne, would you at least expect to be treated with some respect, a smile and some level of service.
I have to say I loved the view and the ambience, the staff however need better training for the pricing and the reception staff need a personality check to just be nice.
That being said one waiter in the afternoon was clearly experienced and friendly. In addition, as we were leaving the staff had changed and the table greeter had changed to a lady with a genuine smile that seemed willing and happy to be there.
Unfortunately the service let the whole experience down .
Unlike other high end providers we had to ask for attention rather than being looked after .
We had afternoon tea at Ting, the views are amazing. The afternoon tea itself is nice but not amazing for the price charged which is disappointing as I had high expectations as it is in the Shanghai-La Hotel and restaurants connected to the brand are usually outstanding but on this occasion it was just standard fare. Other hotels have far nicer selections. You are paying for the view I guess but still I felt it was overpriced. Also it would have been nice to have a proper kid version of afternoon tea, rather than a standard kids menu. The service was friendly and polite but very very slow. It almost felt like they were delaying the amount of refills as you could replenish as often as you like. If you want the view just come for a drink and have afternoon tea elsewhere.
Sypros and his colleague (can’t remember his name but he was short and Indian with whisker moustache). They were amazing and they were able to make our visit absolutely comfortable and relaxing. I would highly recommend afternoon tea and dinner there.
Great location with beautiful view, but food quality and service were not great. The sweet were overly sweet, not recommended.
Nice food and very attentive service.
My family enjoyed our afternoon at Ting
Visiting from the states with family who we rarely see. Afternoon tea was wonderful. Thank you all!
Wonderful experience and all staff so attentive and professional.
Had the afternoon tea as lunch rather than a separate meal. Really good food overall. Great selection of teas, enjoyed the peach fruit tea. The Shard is an magnificent building and you can’t really beat the views. Price wise it is on par with other afternoon teas in more luxurious venues. Would certainly recommend.
Excellent. Good, atmosphere, view and thoughtful service if staff made it an outstanding occasion. Thank you.
The Shard is the tallest building in London. Take advantage of this experience. The teas danced on my tongue. The service was next to none. Go for IT! The only other high tea that can compare is at the Burj Al Arab in Dubai.
Took food allergies seriously
Took 35 min before cold tea arrived
Another 10 min and we finally got hot tea and water. But seriously 45 min to get drinks
Service extremely slow
After 1,5 hour (45 min of which we waited to get service and even water) hostess came and told us that our time in the reservation would soon be up and asked us to get ready to leave. Our scones had only just arrived 10 min prior and we are told to leave!
This is overpriced pretentious and rude.
Service - Initially when we got there it wasn't busy, we got our dry ice palette cleanser, that was, as always amazing, got our pots of tea within a short time, but 1 pot was tepid, which happened to be for the Mother In Law. 🙄 Not Good start upseting her. We got another pot, much better.
The waiter kept checking on us which was nice. Until after the scones arrived.
After that we had to get their attention twice to get another pot of tea, which our waiter forgot.
Pricing - We went for an afternoon tea, I treated my sisters and Mother In law. This was my 2nd visit but their first time. I was a little disappointed when the bill arrived, they charged for water which they offered to us, we didn't request it. They also add the VAT at the end of the bill.
When I made the booking online, it didn't mention anything about additional charges. I thought i was only paying the advertised price!! Not everyone can afford the addtional charges, luckily I was able to transfer money from one account to another. It can be embarrassing for someone who wasn't able to do this. It can ruin the whole day.
Overall, it was an ok afternoon. But could be better for the price we paid.
Well looked after for vegetarian afternoon tea.
Beautiful sights, outstanding service. Definitely one of the highest priced Afternoon Teas but it’s all you can eat and drink and they definitely make it worth it.
Positives: The beautiful view of the city makes this places special and worth it. It is family friendly as I went for an afternoon tea with my mom and 3 months old baby; there was enough room for the stroller and baby changer were available.
Interesting selection of Tea's and tasty food
Negative: no caffeine tea option!! Instead, they had offered me orange juice or water.
The service was ok at the begging, however, after the first tea and food tray were derved, we had to wait and even chase a few waiters to other more tea. Additionally, they forgot to serve the scones, so we had to remind them as well.
The service was the worst ever at shangrila. A male a ever was always in rush and pushed his opinion regardless of food restriction we clearly mentioned. Will never come back.
The view and experience are specular. The service was excellent no rushing us through. Enjoyable time by all.
Had been here several times, really nice view and good service. Highly recommended! Definitely will come again.
So disappointed. The last time I had afternoon tea here my friends and I were sat at a formal table (perhaps it’s because we were a large group) with the piano being played, it was so lovely. This time we (2 of us) were seated on the low chairs in the window. I had asked for a window seat, but these were a little too relaxed for an occasion visit. To support this point the large table at the side of us was occupied by 2 families who looked like they were checking out and waiting to leave. All members of the party were lounging and one was pretty much lying down, all of them on their phone the whole time. This was a treat for us, it felt like we were in a hotel lobby.
Our sandwiches took quite a long time to arrive (how long does it take to make sandwiches), when they were brought out they were placed on the table behind us for a long time, we guessed that they were ours when they arrived, but it would have been better if they were brought straight over to our table even if it wasn’t by our waiter as we waited ages (our guy had disappeared out of eyesight). The additional round of sandwiches took just as long, by which time we had eaten all of the cakes and the tea was (cold) stewed. We asked for hot water but everything took too long. My daughter actually commented that perhaps he had forgotten, but it arrived eventually. £157 for what equates to 4 slices of bread each (we asked for another round of sandwiches) and a few cakes with cold stewed tea in a hotel lobby style environment was not what I had promised my daughter. I had given high praise and also recommended to a number of friends for an afternoon treat. We were left a bit flat after the whole experience, just disappointed. Afternoon tea should not take two and a half hours. I am coming back in a few weeks with my husband who also wanted to visit (after my previous recommendations) but perhaps we will look for something else instead. I’m sorry to leave such negative feedback but you did ask
Took my cousin who was visiting from Australia, we were given a window seat, fantastic views, staff were fabulous and friendly, very helpful.
Afternoon Tea was fantastic, lovely choice of sandwiches, beautiful pastries and warm scones, all of which were repeatedly replenished.
We were both very impressed with our experience at Ting.
Lovely efficient and friendly staff who were very attentive. The food was very good although not particularly inventive -perhaps my expectation was a little high having had a few afternoon teas back in Yorkshire. My recommendation would be if you cannot eat all the delicious food ask them to pack the cakes with care as our delightful box was a mess of cake and scone once we arrived back at our hotel which was a little disappointing
Views are amazing but service was not great - had to ask repeatedly for top ups , service slow as staff did not communicate well with each other. tea was not hot. Have had tea at Fortnums and other high end restaurants in London and all were better in terms of service and attention. A couple of our group were quite aggrieved at the service charge considering the relatively poor service
The staff have little understanding of dietary differences. On arrival I studied the menu carefully and 3 cakes on the afternoon tea menu had fish/fish products. This is in very small print and could easily be missed. The items on the menu are not clearly labelled vegan or vegetarian. I told the first person who served us (head waiter?) that I was vegetarian and he said there were vegetarian options available which he would bring. When the food arrived, it was the non vegetarian cakes. I pointed this out and the head waiter replied ‘it OK, it’s only fish products in the cake, you can see it or smell or taste it’. I was shocked and stated again ‘I am vegetarian ‘. He then said he would bring alternatives. Later when the scones arrived he proudly stated they were vegan. I said I wasn’t vegan and wanted the vegetarian ones with cream at the side. He was somewhat confused to say the least. Overall, the service was very slow. We asked for cappuccinos 3 times before we got them. We were served tea without milk at the side. Had to ask for it twice by which time the tea was cold. The only thing we didn’t have to wait for was the bill. The best bits of the whole experience were my son keeping me smiling and the view.
The one thing that let the experience down was the fact that despite e mailing ahead and explaining it was a 50th birthday treat, we were sat away from the window in the middle of the restaurant away from the views. I got the impression that all the Chinese and foreign tourists had been given the best views whilst the rest of us were sat away from the view. Being as this was the only reason we chose the shard over the Ritz I felt it was a bit poor. The food was excellent and the service. However, we were asked if we wanted water and expected tap water like in most other UK restaurants. When the bill came they added £10 for bottled water! It’s cheaper to have a glass of champagne in retrospect!!!
We visited for my daughter’s 16th birthday and everything was amazing! The setting and view were spectacular, and the table was comfortable with a great view. The waitstaff were attentive and professional, as well as thoughtful. The food was well prepared and just what you imagine as a a proper afternoon tea. And there was plenty of food! We would go back again and may even like to stay in the accommodation as well.
It was ok not fantastic as we didn’t get a table facing the bridge even though it was available.
I saw the staff joking around from where we were seated and found that a bit unprofessional.
Other than this it was good.
The view is incredible and the food was very good. We had a long leisurely tea. However, the service was not as attentive as it could have been. We had to ask for things multiple times. They were nice, but could have been more attentive to our needs. That being said, I would definitely go back. The Cinnamon Black Tea was delicious!
Not as good as expected.
Nice afternoon spent celebrating a family friends 80th birthday. Great table by the window and extra treats complimentary of Ting was much appreciated
Afternoon tea at Ting is by far the best afternoon tea in London! As soon as you arrive, you are greeted with exceptional customer service, with every member of the team going above and beyond expectations to make sure you are happy and satisfied at every point. The views from the restaurant are beyond spectacular and the afternoon tea itself is just incredible! Our host (either Anthony or Antonio) was so friendly, and catered to our every needs, recommended teas for each course and taking control for us to make sure our experience was perfect. They even catered to a halal menu which was incredible. Absolutely my favourite afternoon tea and the best in London! Highly recommend for any special occasions!
