Well looked after for vegetarian afternoon tea.
Beautiful sights, outstanding service. Definitely one of the highest priced Afternoon Teas but it’s all you can eat and drink and they definitely make it worth it.
Positives: The beautiful view of the city makes this places special and worth it. It is family friendly as I went for an afternoon tea with my mom and 3 months old baby; there was enough room for the stroller and baby changer were available.
Interesting selection of Tea's and tasty food
Negative: no caffeine tea option!! Instead, they had offered me orange juice or water.
The service was ok at the begging, however, after the first tea and food tray were derved, we had to wait and even chase a few waiters to other more tea. Additionally, they forgot to serve the scones, so we had to remind them as well.
The service was the worst ever at shangrila. A male a ever was always in rush and pushed his opinion regardless of food restriction we clearly mentioned. Will never come back.
The view and experience are specular. The service was excellent no rushing us through. Enjoyable time by all.
Had been here several times, really nice view and good service. Highly recommended! Definitely will come again.
So disappointed. The last time I had afternoon tea here my friends and I were sat at a formal table (perhaps it’s because we were a large group) with the piano being played, it was so lovely. This time we (2 of us) were seated on the low chairs in the window. I had asked for a window seat, but these were a little too relaxed for an occasion visit. To support this point the large table at the side of us was occupied by 2 families who looked like they were checking out and waiting to leave. All members of the party were lounging and one was pretty much lying down, all of them on their phone the whole time. This was a treat for us, it felt like we were in a hotel lobby.
Our sandwiches took quite a long time to arrive (how long does it take to make sandwiches), when they were brought out they were placed on the table behind us for a long time, we guessed that they were ours when they arrived, but it would have been better if they were brought straight over to our table even if it wasn’t by our waiter as we waited ages (our guy had disappeared out of eyesight). The additional round of sandwiches took just as long, by which time we had eaten all of the cakes and the tea was (cold) stewed. We asked for hot water but everything took too long. My daughter actually commented that perhaps he had forgotten, but it arrived eventually. £157 for what equates to 4 slices of bread each (we asked for another round of sandwiches) and a few cakes with cold stewed tea in a hotel lobby style environment was not what I had promised my daughter. I had given high praise and also recommended to a number of friends for an afternoon treat. We were left a bit flat after the whole experience, just disappointed. Afternoon tea should not take two and a half hours. I am coming back in a few weeks with my husband who also wanted to visit (after my previous recommendations) but perhaps we will look for something else instead. I’m sorry to leave such negative feedback but you did ask
Took my cousin who was visiting from Australia, we were given a window seat, fantastic views, staff were fabulous and friendly, very helpful.
Afternoon Tea was fantastic, lovely choice of sandwiches, beautiful pastries and warm scones, all of which were repeatedly replenished.
We were both very impressed with our experience at Ting.
Lovely efficient and friendly staff who were very attentive. The food was very good although not particularly inventive -perhaps my expectation was a little high having had a few afternoon teas back in Yorkshire. My recommendation would be if you cannot eat all the delicious food ask them to pack the cakes with care as our delightful box was a mess of cake and scone once we arrived back at our hotel which was a little disappointing
Views are amazing but service was not great - had to ask repeatedly for top ups , service slow as staff did not communicate well with each other. tea was not hot. Have had tea at Fortnums and other high end restaurants in London and all were better in terms of service and attention. A couple of our group were quite aggrieved at the service charge considering the relatively poor service
The staff have little understanding of dietary differences. On arrival I studied the menu carefully and 3 cakes on the afternoon tea menu had fish/fish products. This is in very small print and could easily be missed. The items on the menu are not clearly labelled vegan or vegetarian. I told the first person who served us (head waiter?) that I was vegetarian and he said there were vegetarian options available which he would bring. When the food arrived, it was the non vegetarian cakes. I pointed this out and the head waiter replied ‘it OK, it’s only fish products in the cake, you can see it or smell or taste it’. I was shocked and stated again ‘I am vegetarian ‘. He then said he would bring alternatives. Later when the scones arrived he proudly stated they were vegan. I said I wasn’t vegan and wanted the vegetarian ones with cream at the side. He was somewhat confused to say the least. Overall, the service was very slow. We asked for cappuccinos 3 times before we got them. We were served tea without milk at the side. Had to ask for it twice by which time the tea was cold. The only thing we didn’t have to wait for was the bill. The best bits of the whole experience were my son keeping me smiling and the view.
The one thing that let the experience down was the fact that despite e mailing ahead and explaining it was a 50th birthday treat, we were sat away from the window in the middle of the restaurant away from the views. I got the impression that all the Chinese and foreign tourists had been given the best views whilst the rest of us were sat away from the view. Being as this was the only reason we chose the shard over the Ritz I felt it was a bit poor. The food was excellent and the service. However, we were asked if we wanted water and expected tap water like in most other UK restaurants. When the bill came they added £10 for bottled water! It’s cheaper to have a glass of champagne in retrospect!!!
We visited for my daughter’s 16th birthday and everything was amazing! The setting and view were spectacular, and the table was comfortable with a great view. The waitstaff were attentive and professional, as well as thoughtful. The food was well prepared and just what you imagine as a a proper afternoon tea. And there was plenty of food! We would go back again and may even like to stay in the accommodation as well.
It was ok not fantastic as we didn’t get a table facing the bridge even though it was available.
I saw the staff joking around from where we were seated and found that a bit unprofessional.
Other than this it was good.
The view is incredible and the food was very good. We had a long leisurely tea. However, the service was not as attentive as it could have been. We had to ask for things multiple times. They were nice, but could have been more attentive to our needs. That being said, I would definitely go back. The Cinnamon Black Tea was delicious!
Not as good as expected.
Nice afternoon spent celebrating a family friends 80th birthday. Great table by the window and extra treats complimentary of Ting was much appreciated
Afternoon tea at Ting is by far the best afternoon tea in London! As soon as you arrive, you are greeted with exceptional customer service, with every member of the team going above and beyond expectations to make sure you are happy and satisfied at every point. The views from the restaurant are beyond spectacular and the afternoon tea itself is just incredible! Our host (either Anthony or Antonio) was so friendly, and catered to our every needs, recommended teas for each course and taking control for us to make sure our experience was perfect. They even catered to a halal menu which was incredible. Absolutely my favourite afternoon tea and the best in London! Highly recommend for any special occasions!
My aunts 50th birthday we had a wonderful champagne afternoon tea with great service at the shard in Ting restaurant. It’s my second time visiting the views are breathtaking. They even brought a little chocolate treat for my aunt out.
The views and service were exceptional however the food is quite average. The tea menu and recommendations were great. For the price point, and knowing the Shangri La, I would expect better food. It was quite bland. For example, you couldn’t taste any wasabi in the salmon sandwiches. I also felt that you were pushed certain items and they held back on others (the good ones). For example, we were given A LOT of extra cherry mousse cakes despite still having untouched ones on our table but only given 4 small scones between 3 people.
Wasn't very impressed with the afternoon tea at Ting unfortunately. The views were good and service was okay, but unfortunately the food was absolutely terrible. The sweets were overly sweet, and the savory items were all terrible. I didn't finish any of the sandwiches. They were also stale, so you can tell that they've been sitting out for too long. Oh and the scones that were supposed to be brought out later for "fresh ness" were absolutely not fresh or warm. Being able to try different teas was cool, but would not go back.
I have been to Ting twice before this time for afternoon tea. I was bringing my family here for their first time. So I was expecting there to be the Dry Ice that the waiters normally do, which really really adds to the whole experience, making it one of the best afternoon tea experiences. However this time round they didn’t do the dry ice and I was really confused. When I asked them at the end why not; they said they ran out. Not happy with that, as I was expecting it and was really excited to see the families reaction. The service was great as always, however I’m really disappointed that there wasn’t any dry ice. The whole experience became more subtle rather than exciting.
Went here during our visit to London. The restaurant was inside the Shard and was beautifully decorated. We got there about an hour early and they were kind enough to sit us and we were right at the windows with a wonderful view. Our waiter was very nice and made sure we enjoyed our time. The tea selections were amazing! The tea sandwiches were delicious, especially the ham. They give you extras of anything and let you take away. The fusion protea was also great! Definitely enjoyed it!
Such a special afternoon for a baby shower here. The afternoon tea selection was delicious and the service was friendly and impeccable. The setting and view from Ting is breath-taking and truly was a fantastic afternoon!
Great views, food ok , service a bit hit and miss.
Having been before the food choice is limited and needs more imagination!
Amazing and very friendly waiters and great ambiance. The view from the 35th was just splendid!
I love this place! The views are amazing and I enjoy coming back here. The only issue but truly an issue is that by the time I reached to the desserts they were a bit melted but still delicious!
Service was really poor and really slow. On the up side they were really concerned that we did not care for the service. We literally waited 20 min for drinks to come at tea and eventually just got the check. It was a shame because it is the best view of the river and city even on a rainy day.
Great service with amazing panoramic views of London. Good value for money given you get unlimited tea and sandwiches. Would have preferred a better selection of savoury items. All in all highly recommend for a special occasion!
Great view, food and atmosphere. Service was good however after being asked if we wanted anything else and requested food, it didn’t come first time, had to ask again.
Previously been here and thought it was fantastic but on this occasion really didn't enjoy it. The food was average, the cakes were nothing special. We were celebrating my mum's 60th Birthday and I'd told them in advance. They did nothing until I asked them and even then they just brought out some sweets and didn't even wait until she was back in her seat! Don't think I'll be going back.
I loved having high tea here!! It was definitely one of my favorite moments in London! I just wish we had better service. You say "unlimited scones and tea" but it didn't feel like unlimited since every time we wanted more, we had to ask for it and then wait 20 minutes. Otherwise that, beautiful view and great ambience!!
Our Afternoon experience was perfect from start to finish. The staff is very accommodating and efficient and very friendly. they don't make you feel rushed, on the contrary , it's all very relaxed and informal which sometimes in these sort of places can be the opposite. food/cakes/sandwiches were beautiful, lovely setting. would certainly recommend for a special occasion. not cheap but these things aren't in general. very happy , exceeded expectations.
Experience was well worth it, views over London were amazing.
The afternoon tea was good, but nothing spectacular.
Service was good at the start but then tailed off once the food came and it was difficult to get attention for more tea.
Great experience. Exceptional views. Top quality friendly competent staff and eats.
Such an amazing experience, service was brilliant, views were stunning!
Extremely enjoable afternoon . Lovely food . Very attentive staff . Fantastic view. I am sure l will go again
You pay top money for afternoon tea at the Shard, in line with Fortnum & Mason, the Ritz etc.
What sells it is the potential view over London, so when you book, you kind of enter a lottery. Trouble is, the restaurant has 360 degree views, so you could either be seated next to a view of the Thames, and all that London has to offer, or you could be seated with a view of South London. No disrespect meant to South London, but you don't pay north of 50 quid to look at it.
If the service had been a bit better, it may have made up for it. The waiters were very personable and friendly, and were quick to point out that the food is unlimited and would be restocked when empty. The difficult bit was, getting the attention of the staff, and waiting a considerable time for it to arrive.
I'm probably being a bit over critical, but if you pay top price, you expect a top product.
They shouldn't rely on the views, when not everyone gets one
The view was magnificent and definitely the highlight. The food was pleasant but overpriced.
I would recommend for the views, but the service was average at best.
I'd call up and ask for a table next to the window, there were a number of people just having coffee who had better views than us ..but we did get to move in the end.
