We loved our afternoon tea at Ting, Shangri La at the Shard! We were warmly greeted and given a fantastic table with a great view. To begin with, we were treated to a complimentary refreshing tea and then were served with a lovely selection of treats. The service by our waiter was exceptional! I wish I could remember his name. He recommended different teas to suit our moods/tastes and the variety we tried were delicious! Myself and my husband can’t wait for our next visit :)
Service is as fantastic as the views. A wonderful treat.
Absolutely blown away with the overall experience.. view was just the best. Afternoon tea was Devine. Really loved it..
Requested a window table (it was my father-in-laws 80th Birthday) & called on morning of booking to ask again. Arrived - no window table & advised that tables of 6 could not be accommodated at window - if I had known this I would have booked somewhere else. No attempt made to accommodate us even though quiet day & we spending in region of £600. Service was quite disjointed. Small discount applied to final bill but honestly would rather have had seat with view. Very disappointing, and did not compare to our previous experience at this hotel. I would not recommend.
The view is incredible, the choice of flavours for desserts are all too similar. The bread used for sandwiches are not as fresh as Tasted in other places. The salmon was normal, the chicken and truffle sandwich was lovely and the cucumber sandwich was overpowered by the flavour of the bread.
The teas offered were good, the service was professional and friendly.
Other than the view And the interesting dry ice display at the beginning of sitting i wouldn’t go again.
My wife and I went for afternoon tea to celebrate her 40th birthday and I was slightly disappointed. The restaurant itself is very nice and the views across london were excellent, despite the weather. Unfortunately we didn't get a window seat, although this wasn't guaranteed. The food was the biggest let down, the finger sandwiches were nice but became a bit sickly after a few. The cakes & patisserie looked impressive but were all overly filled with jam and all tasted the same, I would have liked more variety. Service was ok but not amazing, we frequently had to wait quite a while for items we ordered, but the staff were apologetic. Total cost for the both of us was around £170 including a glass of champagne each. A nice experience but not really worth the price as the food wasn't great.
Naturally including alcohol the prices can rise, but the cost of the Afternoon Tea overall, even cocktails included, I would say was good value. Make the most of the chance to ask for more sandwiches to make it a filling meal, and also take advantage of the option to drink multiple different teas from the impressive selection over the course of the afternoon, each at no additional cost. I would suggest early afternoon as well, attending the Ting Lounge's first sitting at midday during the week was very, very quiet and gave the opportunity for incredibly attentive service. The view, ambience, service and (of course) food made this an excellent experience.
Awesome tea with great views. Cannot say enough how amazing the service food and view were.
It’s an amazing experience. The view, service and food are next level!
Really not as good as it used to be. Food, service and atmosphere used to be much better.
We had the afternoon tea, the scones were not warm, and the “sweets” were all jam based, there was no variation, just jam filled eclairs, jam filed tarts, jam flavoured macaroons and come red ball filled with jam. The chef definitely needs to mix it up a bit with the desserts because it was just sickly with all the jam. And come one, cold scones? I’m a Londoner and this is just not acceptable at an establishment of this calibre.
Etwas chaotisch von der Organisation her, was aber durch die Freundlichkeit des Personals mehr als ausgeglichen wurde! Sonderwünsche wurden erfüllt und das Essen war reichlich und lecker! Die Aussicht spricht sowieso für sich!
Thank you for your heartwarming service ! I really want to recommend to my friends if they are planning to visit London.
Very disappointing. Staff didn't seem to know what they were doing and were arguing amongst themselves.
Had a lovely afternoon the service was very good . We had booked in September and didn’t realise they were changing the theme for October but apart from having a bit to much jam in everything for our taste we had a lovely time and the scones were delicious everything was fresh (I had been worried as other reviews mentioned stale sandwiches) . The waiter was very attentive and we were not rushed at all so in all would thoroughly recommended the experience
Went to the Shard fir afternoon tea with a friend when booked the cost was listed 49.50 each however when we got there it was a special offer for 70 each as it was for breast cancer.Although this is fantastic cause and very close to my heart i feel they should have notified us.Also as they hiked the price by 20.00 and breast cancer were getting 10percent if proceeds the shard were still proffitting of the cause.I feel they should donated at least 20 percent which would have been towards the cause.
Underwhelming food with amazing views.
Food was lovely despite the pink theme for Breast Cancer Awareness so all the pastries had pink colouring. Staff were fabulous, very attentive and courteous and friendly
The setting was amazing with outstanding views of London
We would definitely recommend.
An amazing experience, but weather could have been kinder so that we could see the views
Afternoon Tea was excellent although one of the desserts was a strange combination. Sandwiches were outstanding. Lovely setting we were sitting in the window. My only gripe was that we were celebrating two 40th birthdays. I had informed yourselves at the time of booking and again as we were lead to the table. Nothing was shown to celebrate this. On past visits the staff were outstanding with special acknowledgements of the occasions.
This is the 2nd time I have been to Tings this year and both times the food and service have been 5 star ! The staff were very attentive and the food was excellent !! I would highly recommend anyone visiting London to give it a try you won’t be disappointed
I visited the Ting for a birthday treat. The whole experience left me speechless. We sat by the window, we had breathtaking views, the service was immaculate, the staff amazing and the quality above anything I have experienced so far. For someone like me I wouldn't pay again to have the same experience as I think 60 pounds per person is not worth it but it is worth it as a one time experience as part of something special. The food was amazing
My husband and I had a most enjoyable afternoon at Ting, Shangri-La. We were lucky enough to have chosen a sunny afternoon and to be seated on a comfy settee overlooking the magnificent all round view was quite breathtaking. We were treated like royalty by all the staff and our waiter could not have been more helpful or informative. We thought the food was absolutely spot on although we couldn't quite manage the very last cakes! It was not a cheap experience but left us feeling that we must do the same again. I have a sister reaching 70 next April so an afternoon tea experience could be just right! Our thanks to everyone involved.
Lovely setting and views. Very tasty afternoon tea but very sporadic and delayed service with a lot of waiting for things to be brought to the table. Lovely staff and, when we raised our concerns, they dealt with it very well.
Staff were lovely and view over London is great. Sandwiche selection also really good but it was let down by its cakes which were all the same, sickly sweet raspberry mouse with a raspberry filling.
It's a luxurious place with well trained service personnel. Awesome views of London.
Very good location with excellent view of the tower bridge, river thames and etc. Service was slow, we had to wait for almost an hour for our afternoon tea set to come. Food quality was not bad.
The staff where working extremely hard and obviously understaffed for a busy Saturday. However we where waiting for far too long for even a pot of tea. The cakes where all the exact same flavour and dry. They where all strong strawberry flavoured which I didnt like, I therefore left the cakes and ate the sandwiches and one stale scone. The view is what you are paying for. Now I've seen it I wouldnt go back, as there are other cafes in London which serve much better food.
Fab afternoon tea with lovely champagne. Staff very attentive, great views, would recommend for a treat.
We had high expectations for afternoon tea at Ting given their reputation and being at the Shard. We arrived 15mins ahead of our booking and were seated, we make a request for a window seat which we were made aware was not a guarantee so that was understandable however we were repeatedly told after when spaces were clearly available that they had no spaces suitable for more than 4 people- it looked to be but also noone told us this when I called ahead twice to put in a request?
I had also made requests for dietary requirements in advance twice which was noted, however we had to mention this again when ordering and then still got the wrong order brought out which was a shame. They did apologise but I expected more given we had reiterated this 3 times in advance and in person in different ways so that there was no confusion.
In terms of service everyone was perfectly nice and helpful but it took a very long time to get anyone to attend to us , our welcome drinks arrived mid way through our afternoon tea, some of our teas arrived more than 10mins after ordering, it was just such a shame that a supposed high end restaurant had difficulties on the day- again the staff were lovely, I am not sure if there were just not enough of them or perhaps something happened on the day to make our experience so poor.
Lastly, I had twice in advance made a request for something special as were celebrating a 60th birthday but on the day I had to remind them as they had not checked the prior requests- overall this showed me that despite trying to be organised and making prior requests it was not actually checked by anyone on the day until I double checked with multiple staff members.
The supervising/managing staff did apologise and offered us 20% off which we did accept but it seemed such a shame that had to happen.
In terms of food, the sandwiches were lovely, the scones were the best I had ever had in an afternoon tea (we have been to many!) The macarons and the eclairs were loved!
Amazing venue, views are spectacular. Service and food was great. Could not fault at all.
This is a superb venue. The service was very polite but very slow. The savoury food was only sandwiches which were dry. The sweet items were very good, but a bit too sweet. ie the balance between the sweet and the savoury was off. Without the spectacular view, this would not be worth visiting.
A fantastic setting with the best view.
Great service and amazing food (that was refilled)
The frozen ice added to the wow factor.
2 hours flew by.
It was the perfect ending to the three days vacation with my mum in Londen
A wonderful way to experience Tea in London. Exquisite service and incredible ambiance.
Grossly overpriced. Food was unimaginative and lacking presentation. Tea was served in a small pot and servers took too long to refill it. Scones correct but too heavy. Pound cake fresh but embarrassingly basic. Finger sandwiches (except for chicken salad with tarragon) rather tasteless. I have dined in many Shangri La locations around the world and expected similar standard. Without the hype of the physical setting and spectacular views the experience would be extremely disappointing. Even the chair was uncomfortable and too low for the table. Noise level, sadly coming from other patrons, was highly distracting, even startling. The ticket for the observation deck at the Shard, was timed and I had to wait for 45 minutes to be admitted after I finished dining. I was never informed about the time restraints or consulted regarding the admission time. If you want to see the view from the Shard, skip the tea at Ting.
The service was great, but the choices of food were a little limited (4 types of sandwiches and 4 types of desserts).
This was our second time at Ting for Afternoon tea - last time was almost three years ago and it was a lovely experience.
This time I felt that food quality was very disappointing - bread for sandwiches didn't taste fresh. Desserts were pretty ordinary like Macaroons and Lemon Drizzle Cake etc. However, Mojito Meringue Tart and Black Cherry Mousse were slightly better.
Staff was very accommodating and we really liked the service and ambience overall except for the food itself.
We celebrated my friends 40th and couldnt have been spolit more. Food was lovely, refills of you ask. Service was attentive and the view is stunning..highly recommend.
Really enjoyed our anniversary celebration at the Shard. Food was great apart from the Gluten free scones. They were more like fruit cake. Everything else was perfect. The view was also great.
