Lovely afternoon tea, staff were very attentive without being over bearing. Great views from the 35th floor of the Shard as you would expect.
Birthday treat, excellent service. Good food and amazing view. Wish we had a window seat though
excellent service and food in stunning location, highly recommend.
La vista è la cosa più sensazionale, cibo e servizio nella media di un High Tea elegante in un hotel di lusso, prezzo alto. Visitare le rest rooms!
This is my 2nd time having afternoon tea a the Ting restaurant . The 1st time was so wonderful a decide to take my family there for my daughter´s 21 birthday as a special treat . Sadly the service was very slow, we waited 35 mins for first cup of tea and had to keep asking for subsequent teas. I was just a bit disappointing as it is not a cheap afternoon out . To end it all half the group had left while i sat at reception waiting for the bill which took ever to come.
Fabulous staff and service! Over priced for the 'spread' - stingy and not as good quality as I have had all over London. Charged for still water! Really! Shame that the limited nature of the high tea meant that we had to pay for water. I would go again for the scenery and location, and the staff, but the high was low quality.
Fantastic for a birthday - completely beyond my expectations. We both loved it!
We arrived at the Ting Restaurant for Afternoon tea on Saturday at our booked time of 3.30pm. We were not so politely told to go and wait on the chairs near the lifts as they were preparing tables. After waiting patiently for 20 minutes, my partner asked if our table was ready and pushed by saying we had somewhere to be after. They finally sat us. We walked round the room, following the hostess to a table, passing a few empty tables en-route. she finally sat us at a dark table with no view from the shard (one of the main reasons to choose this location for tea). I immediately asked to move and was told there were no other tables, when i mentioned we passed a table just a second ago, she said it was now occupied. She asked if we would like to see the manager and we said yes and he managed to find us a better table. After being told we could order more food unlimited after about 20 minutes we were informed it was last orders as the kitchen was changing over for dinner. we just felt hugely rushed. it was just disappointing really when it is an expensive afternoon.
I'd avoid this at weekends, it was tourist central.
We had a 3:30 afternoon tea booking but couldn't be seated until 3:45 because they were at capacity and people weren't finishing in time / because they have a high service bar they won't hurry people out at the end of their 2 hour slot.
Their top floor bar was unavailable so we went to their sky bar where we were seated after a brusque waitress asked us 'if we were going to buy a drink' before directing us to a seat, after being seated we were ignored for 10 minutes despite saying we were only there for a drink before going to our afternoon tea table. My mother had to go and fetch the waitress to order so that was a service negative.
I requested a table by the window and in their defence got it, it was however close to the kitchen serving hatch in a place where I would say there shouldn't even be a table. I think this is a symptom of them trying to pack the place out to monetise all the tourists
Afternoon tea, lovely cakes, good scones, sandwiches were a touch dry and disappointing I thought, for 2 people at £50 odd per head were also a bit stingy on the portions, more could be requested but you had to flag the waitress or waiter down to get that. The staff were relatively attentive and polite.
I think the relatively low price for a 'fancy hotel afternoon tea' along with the location creates a perfect storm of tourist busy-ness. The waiter very very carefully emphasised the price of everything first, which I assume is a script to cover against tourists who don't realise pricing is per person.
Combined, the busyness and touristyness along with the late seating and lacklustre bar service mean this is a 4 star, would have been 3 if not for the nice decor and friendly serving staff at afternoon tea as well as the shard's great view.
The view was incredible despite the rainy weather - it is on the 35th floor so you could see the city canary wharf and the river winding away - absolutely breathtaking! The service was equally fantastic, George looked after us very well for my mum's birthday and provided a high chair for my 6 month old niece. They sat us at one of the best tables available by the window and pianist and my niece was mesmerized by the amazing music. We paid for the ambience the service and the view. It was truly wonderful.
The food was unfortunately just okay - I felt that the sandwiches and the pastries could have been far more delicious and creative - but the stand out was the fantastic scones - very very delicious. The roast beef sandwich was nice. The food was replenished quickly and you could ask for the things you liked. We ordered more beef sandwiches and scones! The tea was in tea bags, we expected loose leaf. When replenishing we were given hot water top ups - not new tea. If these elements were tweaked it would be very very good value. For 3 without champagne cost £180. We ordered water and coffee on top of the afternoon tea which increased the price slightly. I would definitely go again, the tasting menus look delicious. Thank you again for the fantastic experience for my mum's birthday.
Halal chicken sandwiches available.
Courteous staff. Overall a very luxurious ambience.
Tea was lukewarm at best, which was surprising as we went for afternoon tea. We requested it to be hot the next time but a) it took ages to be served and b) it was not hot.
Sandwiches were okay.
Scones were awesome.
Desserts were all monotone and too citrusy.
Overall the experience was not too good in terms of the food and tea.
Good but not exceptional I have had better in other hotels accross London.
Wonderful place - fresh sandwiches, impeccable service and fabulous drinks.
Absolutely lovely. Great views, very well staffed and unbelievable helpful. Very clean and food and drinks were beautiful. Would definitely recommend this to a friend. Lovely treat.
It was a friends bday. She was overwhelmed by the experience. Food was great, service was brilliant.
Lovely afternoon tea waiters very attentive and professional
Needs to bring back the Oriental tea
brilliant service and food was great. Me and my wife will diffnetley be returning back.
Amazing afternoon tea! Great selection of teas and food was so tasty! Especially liked the chicken sandwich and the pistachio cake. Not to mention the scenic views... staff really attentive. Would definitely recommend!
Great experience overall, wonderful views and top notch food!
Great experience and view
The afternoon tea was absolutely fantastic! The service was amazing, a lot of care and it really made our experience exceptional. The food was great and the selection of teas is remarkable- really recommend the place!
A stunning afternoon, with a beautiful vista over Tower Bridge. Staff were exceptional and afternoon tea divine - with opportunities to add to our portions/servings. Special attention to detail was made on account of my mum’s birthday. A relaxing ambiance was topped off superbly by music played on the grand piano. Thouroughly recommend this experience. Just wonderful!!
Afternoon tea was lovely, maybe slightly over price but still looked great, and was a sufficient amount of food. Views are great, it’s just a shame the windows are so dirty ruined the effect, photos and view
Afternoon tea was fantastic. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive and the view makes it all the more special.
Wonderful view and food! Would go here again. Amazing toilet with the best view in town!
Top Location in London! Great view! Must do when you do a London-Trip, also with Kids.
Amazing service, brilliant view, fantastic experience
We got an excellent table at the window with beautifull view over London. The afternoon tea was delicious and service outstanding!
Very pleasant afternoon; outstanding service; spectacular views; tea, scones and sweets delicious; sandwiches a little disappointing.
We had a lovely afternoon tea to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday. The staff were wonderful and the views are fabulous. There was plenty of food and they were happy to accommodate our dietary requirements. Although we were told we had a 2 hour slot, we arrived early and left late and there was no problem.
The view is nice but all the rest was not worth it. Got poisoned by their food too .. would not recommend
I had afternoon tea here on the 27/10/18 and it was superb the flavours that they use are very different and enjoyable and the scones are the best that i have had at any afternoon tea. There were two adults and one child in our party and the service was exceptional and efficient from the moment we arrived up until we left. The pianist was just wonderful and really added to the experience. You go to the shard firstly for the views but i would definately come back to Ting for a pleasurable dining experience.
Amazing setting, great food and superb service made a memorable afternoon.
Service was out of this world!! All the staff were courteous and super helpful. Ambiance was perfect, and the view only added to it. Even the bathrooms were amazing! The tea selection was huge, but the staff was helpful in making excellent decisions. Highly recommend!
Fantastic place. Great service. A special treat as slightly pricey for a few sandwiches
I had a fantastic time, the view is stunning and service was superb, the waiter asked us if we would like more sandwich or more tea, which was very nice! I would love to go back again! It was a bit pricy for me but worth the occasion.
Beautiful tea and treats. Nice service, best view in London. Live piano for afternoon tea. There is a gluten free option, scones are amazing but patries are a little heavy and not as delicate as the normal menu. Would go again!
The afternoon tea menu is lovely & we got plenty of refills. Our waiter was really nice and attentive, and the special trick demo at the start was cool! Service from the rest of the team in bringing out tea or replenishments was a tad slow at times (which is why I'm not giving full 5 stars), but overall this was a great experience and the service is nice and friendly. As a bonus, the view is outstanding!
Was my husbands 50th birthday have had afternoon tea in lots of different places in London but would say this was one of the best, our waitress was excellent, friendly , helpful, knowledgable. Thank you Helga
