Food was lovely despite the pink theme for Breast Cancer Awareness so all the pastries had pink colouring. Staff were fabulous, very attentive and courteous and friendly
The setting was amazing with outstanding views of London
We would definitely recommend.
An amazing experience, but weather could have been kinder so that we could see the views
Afternoon Tea was excellent although one of the desserts was a strange combination. Sandwiches were outstanding. Lovely setting we were sitting in the window. My only gripe was that we were celebrating two 40th birthdays. I had informed yourselves at the time of booking and again as we were lead to the table. Nothing was shown to celebrate this. On past visits the staff were outstanding with special acknowledgements of the occasions.
This is the 2nd time I have been to Tings this year and both times the food and service have been 5 star ! The staff were very attentive and the food was excellent !! I would highly recommend anyone visiting London to give it a try you won’t be disappointed
I visited the Ting for a birthday treat. The whole experience left me speechless. We sat by the window, we had breathtaking views, the service was immaculate, the staff amazing and the quality above anything I have experienced so far. For someone like me I wouldn't pay again to have the same experience as I think 60 pounds per person is not worth it but it is worth it as a one time experience as part of something special. The food was amazing
My husband and I had a most enjoyable afternoon at Ting, Shangri-La. We were lucky enough to have chosen a sunny afternoon and to be seated on a comfy settee overlooking the magnificent all round view was quite breathtaking. We were treated like royalty by all the staff and our waiter could not have been more helpful or informative. We thought the food was absolutely spot on although we couldn't quite manage the very last cakes! It was not a cheap experience but left us feeling that we must do the same again. I have a sister reaching 70 next April so an afternoon tea experience could be just right! Our thanks to everyone involved.
Lovely setting and views. Very tasty afternoon tea but very sporadic and delayed service with a lot of waiting for things to be brought to the table. Lovely staff and, when we raised our concerns, they dealt with it very well.
Staff were lovely and view over London is great. Sandwiche selection also really good but it was let down by its cakes which were all the same, sickly sweet raspberry mouse with a raspberry filling.
It's a luxurious place with well trained service personnel. Awesome views of London.
Very good location with excellent view of the tower bridge, river thames and etc. Service was slow, we had to wait for almost an hour for our afternoon tea set to come. Food quality was not bad.
The staff where working extremely hard and obviously understaffed for a busy Saturday. However we where waiting for far too long for even a pot of tea. The cakes where all the exact same flavour and dry. They where all strong strawberry flavoured which I didnt like, I therefore left the cakes and ate the sandwiches and one stale scone. The view is what you are paying for. Now I've seen it I wouldnt go back, as there are other cafes in London which serve much better food.
Fab afternoon tea with lovely champagne. Staff very attentive, great views, would recommend for a treat.
We had high expectations for afternoon tea at Ting given their reputation and being at the Shard. We arrived 15mins ahead of our booking and were seated, we make a request for a window seat which we were made aware was not a guarantee so that was understandable however we were repeatedly told after when spaces were clearly available that they had no spaces suitable for more than 4 people- it looked to be but also noone told us this when I called ahead twice to put in a request?
I had also made requests for dietary requirements in advance twice which was noted, however we had to mention this again when ordering and then still got the wrong order brought out which was a shame. They did apologise but I expected more given we had reiterated this 3 times in advance and in person in different ways so that there was no confusion.
In terms of service everyone was perfectly nice and helpful but it took a very long time to get anyone to attend to us , our welcome drinks arrived mid way through our afternoon tea, some of our teas arrived more than 10mins after ordering, it was just such a shame that a supposed high end restaurant had difficulties on the day- again the staff were lovely, I am not sure if there were just not enough of them or perhaps something happened on the day to make our experience so poor.
Lastly, I had twice in advance made a request for something special as were celebrating a 60th birthday but on the day I had to remind them as they had not checked the prior requests- overall this showed me that despite trying to be organised and making prior requests it was not actually checked by anyone on the day until I double checked with multiple staff members.
The supervising/managing staff did apologise and offered us 20% off which we did accept but it seemed such a shame that had to happen.
In terms of food, the sandwiches were lovely, the scones were the best I had ever had in an afternoon tea (we have been to many!) The macarons and the eclairs were loved!
Amazing venue, views are spectacular. Service and food was great. Could not fault at all.
This is a superb venue. The service was very polite but very slow. The savoury food was only sandwiches which were dry. The sweet items were very good, but a bit too sweet. ie the balance between the sweet and the savoury was off. Without the spectacular view, this would not be worth visiting.
A fantastic setting with the best view.
Great service and amazing food (that was refilled)
The frozen ice added to the wow factor.
2 hours flew by.
It was the perfect ending to the three days vacation with my mum in Londen
A wonderful way to experience Tea in London. Exquisite service and incredible ambiance.
Grossly overpriced. Food was unimaginative and lacking presentation. Tea was served in a small pot and servers took too long to refill it. Scones correct but too heavy. Pound cake fresh but embarrassingly basic. Finger sandwiches (except for chicken salad with tarragon) rather tasteless. I have dined in many Shangri La locations around the world and expected similar standard. Without the hype of the physical setting and spectacular views the experience would be extremely disappointing. Even the chair was uncomfortable and too low for the table. Noise level, sadly coming from other patrons, was highly distracting, even startling. The ticket for the observation deck at the Shard, was timed and I had to wait for 45 minutes to be admitted after I finished dining. I was never informed about the time restraints or consulted regarding the admission time. If you want to see the view from the Shard, skip the tea at Ting.
The service was great, but the choices of food were a little limited (4 types of sandwiches and 4 types of desserts).
This was our second time at Ting for Afternoon tea - last time was almost three years ago and it was a lovely experience.
This time I felt that food quality was very disappointing - bread for sandwiches didn't taste fresh. Desserts were pretty ordinary like Macaroons and Lemon Drizzle Cake etc. However, Mojito Meringue Tart and Black Cherry Mousse were slightly better.
Staff was very accommodating and we really liked the service and ambience overall except for the food itself.
We celebrated my friends 40th and couldnt have been spolit more. Food was lovely, refills of you ask. Service was attentive and the view is stunning..highly recommend.
Really enjoyed our anniversary celebration at the Shard. Food was great apart from the Gluten free scones. They were more like fruit cake. Everything else was perfect. The view was also great.
Service was slow, view wasn't great despite being moved to another table. We seemed to be forgotten about at shift changeover and needed top keep reminding staff to bring what we'd asked for, sandwiches were dry. Considering the price paid, it didn't live up to expectations.
I took friends to Ting for tea as part of their first visit to London. I’ve always loved the experience here but this visit was abysmal. Even when the restaurant was still empty, it was impossible to get service. We had to flag people down to get spoons, more water, more tea, the scones that are due to come with the service while the staff stood by the cashier stand and chatted amongst themselves. Disappointing. But...the view never disappoints and the food was delicious.
Booked for my anniversary and was stated so during booking. There was no mention of upon arrival.
Bread for the sandwiches tasted a bit stale. All pastries and cakes were different sizes. The “lemon drizzle slice” didn’t taste anything of lemons and again tasted as if it was left out. Seemed as though it was bought from the supermarket.
If you want afternoon tea you’re better off going to a more well established venue that knows how to do it well and is surprisingly cheaper than this. If you want ambience then Ting is fine for that.
I've been to The Shard a couple of times for breakfast so this was my first Afternoon Tea and my first time to Ting.
We were welcomed warmly by all staff which was a great start but this is where it all went wrong.
The food was good - but I've had better quality food from other establishments in London.
The service was not 5 star. A number of times we had a waitress come to the table to take our order, which we had already given to a colleague of hers (this lady's badge stated she was a Supervisor).
The view is amazing but things like excellent service should be a given. I would recommend other establishments like The Wolseley or Fortnum & Mason for Afternoon Tea.
I arrived 23 minutes before my reservation and was instructed by the host at Ting to wait in the lobby, as the restaurant wasn’t opened. At noon, the time of my reservation, I noticed that some guests had been seated at the restaurant before noon, but waited until 12:00pm to return to the entrance of the restaurant. The host told me that the area where Afternoon Tea was being held wasn’t open yet and that she would come to me when it had opened. At 12:07pm I was approached to be seated, and finally, at 12:17pm I was approached for my drink order. I have been to the Afternoon Tea at Grosvernor Hotel and they were much more prompt at seating and initial attentiveness. The complaint ends here; once the service started it never stopped and the staff was absolutely brilliant. The food and drinks were delicious too. My reservation was for “Champagne afternoon tea and ticket to the View From The Shard” but I was not reminded of that, which ended up working out for the best. I only payed for the service I received, so my bill/check was lower than expected.
A very enjoyable experience with wonderful views across london the restaurant staff were friendly and welcoming and the style of the place was excellent my only issue is the price forany extras like a bottle of water £5 which is somewhat excessive overall a great experience
The quality didn’t really match the price. The service was ok but took an age to bring the bill.
Beautiful view, great service and the birthday girl could not have been more pleased. She felt like royalty! There was no hard sell and you were left to your own devices. The decor was so comfortable, you felt like you were at home. All the food and drink was topped up when needed and we left extremely full! I it was worth the money. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
The view was breathtaking. Service was excellent. We were offered more food which is rare at Afternoon Teas in the USA that I have attended. I didnt give perfect scores because the sandwiches didn't taste fresh and the scones were a little too heavy and dense for me.
I believed I had purchased a 60 Pound High tea, but when the bill came it was twice that plus incidentals. I have no problem paying the price, but was do not believe the tea with beverage/cakes was worth 120 pounds. The facility was excellent, as was the service and ambiance!
My friend first afternoon tea experience
Very bad standards not to my expectation
Food was a bit disappointing but the service, ambience and view was amazing.
Great atmosphere, great food and very helpful staff.
Ambience and settings were lovely, but I have had tastier food.
Overall nice. When our server, David, was cut, the next server didn’t ask us if we wanted more tea. Plus, it took a while to get someone’s attention to get the check.
The food, welcome and setting are all fabulous. Staff were really polite and well-trained for most of our tea, but they became scarce at the end of our tea and it took a while to find someone to pay. Would have been altogether wonderful had they not spoilt the last half hour vacuuming around us which was noisy and unpleasant.
The experience was very good but was ruined when our bill was presented. This was because a 12.5% discretionary service charge (amount £46.88) had been included on the bill and then an additional line on the bill was included for gratuity. I feel this appears clumsy at best and greedy at worst - those not paying attention or unfamiliar with UK language or etiquette could easily tip twice. Please consider reviewing your processes or at least training your team to point out that a discretionary service charge has been already included. Otherwise you would have received a 5 rating.
