AJ's Oldtown Steakhouse & Tavern
Great as usual! First time in the winter so different clientele. Will be back for the summer.
EXCELLENT MEAL AND SERVICE! My favorite place
The steak melted in my mouth!!! I love taking out of town company there.
Great food, great staff. All polite and friendly. We had an amazing dinner!
Never a complaint. Service and food always above expectations.
First order choice was unavailable so second choice was Halibut and it was delicious! Waitress was friendly, water glasses never went empty, decorating is warm, interesting and inviting, and the reservation was easy to make. Love this place and its romantic charm. Have not had a bad experience here, yet! Wonderful place and happy to support local.
I did not make this reservation
The food was AMAZING!! Expensive but worth it! We will definitely be going back next time we are in town! The apple pie is the best i have ever had!! We brought some home! The steak is also the best!! Calamari was amazing too! Not chewy like most places. Beautiful setting and nice workers.
We drive to Homer annually to celebrate our wedding anniversary and often dine at AJ’s.
The atmosphere here is friendly and nice. The service is awesome and the food is excellent. Their beef entrees are PHENOMENAL!
Prices have jumped due to recent supply chain issues, but AJ's is offering options to help offset some of the expenses. The food and service is ALWAYS top quality. Glad to have this gem located in the heart of Homer!
Always great food and friendly staff!
Reservations recommended as this is a very busy place.
The food was really good! A little pricey but overall really good. Beer prices were good too. I will be coming back!
Aj's always has fantastic food. We thought their prime rib special was a bit high in price, even with the current prices going up but it was really good. The shrimp alfredo melted in your mouth and we love that they have wine from Bear Creek Winery.
Most of the food was wonderful. Steaks were overcooked and the ribeye was a bit bland but everything else was spot on. The service was friendly, prompt, and very helpful.
Top of my spending but worth it. Just visiting family and headed back to Delaware. Best steak coast to coast
A Homer treasure that shouldn’t be missed if visiting and locals already know.
Very welcoming staff. Food was delicious and our waiter was attentive and helpful.
Excellent as always
Very nice attentive staff
One of my favorites in Homer
The Alaskan Scallops were beyond delicious. In addition to amazing food the staff were attentive and very friendly. It was a overall wonderful dinning experience!
As usual our meal , service, and reservation was outstanding.
Good and service is exceptional. We had a reservation. We’re taken care of rapidly. Our other party was late the staff remained professional and courteous. Didn’t make us feel we were taking too much time. Next time I will ask not to be seated by the piano. Very hard to have a conversation. Was hoping staff would sing happy birthday as I had informed them early about my grandsons birthday. The card signed by all and free desert was a great touch. Food was great. Overall experience was very good.
Staff very helpful re: change of reservation. Server was so pleasant and helpful. Food was very tasty and cooked to our specifications.
Excellent food great service. Friendly attentive staff
Please! This place is 100% every time. We always get the onion rings appetizer- delish! The spicy mayo is great for dipping. Last night my husband had shrimp alfredo and I had the peppercorn sirloin with baby potatoes. We shared, of course. Their steaks melt in your mouth! My butter knife even sliced it. We are always too full for dessert but we see lots of them pass by and they look good.
So glad to have such a consistently delicious place to go!
Great restaurant with a wonderful family history. Food was awesome and wait staff was excellent. A gem this late in the tourist season.
A privacy wall was put up for our Anniversary. They were very accommodating and the staff was excellent!
We have eaten at AJ’s for years and have enjoyed it. This time we (6 people)waited for 1 1/2 hours (90 minutes) to get our food. The waitress, who was very nice, acknowledged a couple times that we had been waiting a long time. At one point she told us she had talked to her manager and she/he would be over to talk to us. That never happened. We paid almost $300.00 for our meals and drinks and all we got was an apology from the waitress. I’ll think again before I go back.
The steak was delicious, the potatoes and one stick of zucchini were lacking flavor. I haven't been in the restaurant and the prices have really increased - most everything is "market price". My ribeye was $49.
Great girl’s night! Thanks for being open and flexible!
Food was flavorless and quite greasy. Server was great, but food took over 30 minutes to come out. We have been here before and the food was fine. Im not sure what happened this time round, but it was a horrid experience.
We have ate in a few towns but this one place always beats them all with the delicious food the service is awesome, we are never forgotten. Hands down I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting or locals.
Perfectly cooked Tenderloins, Scallops, and Halibut! Their Creme Brulee` was some of the best I have had. All 4 of us enjoyed the entire experience! Relaxed, warm, professional; never had to wait for appropriate attention to any aspect of the service throughout our evening.
The food was really good, but nothing that made me want to make it my favorite spot to eat, maybe because it is so expensive. The waitresses were really attentive. It was not too loud, which was also good. It is popular though, so reservations are a must.
Attentive table service & delicious food. Love that they use locally grown veggies.
AJs made it on to my list of top five restaurants in Alaska. Service was thoughtful and gracious and every element of the meal was prepared with great care. We will be back often.
Reservations required. Excellent service. Prime rib well seasoned, not bland. Scallops and shrimp perfectly done, not overcooked. Pleasant old steakhouse vibe. All in all a great experience!!
The food is always delicious! One of the best on the Kenai! Our server was very nice but we waited forever for our food. Longer than I remember from past visits. Even so we will always come back for special occasions.
This is our “go to” place when in Homer from Seldovia. Excellent steaks, service and ambiance.
Excellent experience here! We were visiting Homer from Florida, and found this option through Trip Advisor. Booking through Open Table was so nice, because there was a line when we got there, but our table was already ready and waiting for us! The ambience was super cool here— somehow chill AND romantic/formal vibes at the same time. Our waitress was very friendly, and she kept apologizing for the wait (apparently they were doing takeout orders, which were backing up the kitchen), but we truly preferred having a longer experience here! Do be aware that some of their nicer options are set to “market price”, so be sure to ask just how much that is before ordering— I was a bit sticker shocked to find out after the fact that my carb was $100! Again, totally my fault (and also TOTALLY worth it, because it was the best king crab I’ve ever had)! I highly recommend stopping in here for some amazing food & great service.
Outstanding as usual. One of the best places to eat in Homer.
