Don’t get the crab cake. Deep fried, almost greasy. The tomato jam condiment was a joke. My husband thought it was the Marinara sauce that goes with the fried cheese at Sonic. I thought it tasted like ketchup.
We have eaten here often and really like the restaurant and location and service and food. We just made a bad choice this time. We will be back soon
Great experience felt special on mt birthday! Everyone from the host to waiter made a point to wish me happy birthday.
Amazing food. Great service.
My family of 4 enjoyed our dinner. Staff was really gracious and friendly and the atmosphere was nice
The escargot and tortellini NEVER disappoints, and neither does the Spinalis (that sauce...) amazing service from the valet, hostess, bar, mgmt, and server! Following and maintaining all anti- COVID rules standards and made us feel safe the entire time.
Felt comfortable eating there. Food was great and service was great.
I’m a repeat customer. It’s always a great experience. This visit however was different. Our server was indifferent snd inattentive. There was no offer or visit to the table we hee E n the food arrived to refill our beverages (wine by the glass). We are our entire meal before he checked on us. We then ordered our second round of drinks. Not a typical experience for this place.
I'm generally not one to be negative, but Al Biernat's has such a good reputation that the quality of the food magnified my sense of disappointment in the experience I had. The service and ambience were pleasant. But the food was a strike out on all counts. I had the 1) wild boar appetizer and the 2) chicken piccata with 3) wild mushrooms as a side for dinner. I was disappointed by all three. The wild boar appetizer was tuff and had has lots of fat, to the point that I had a hard time even chewing it. The chicken piccata tasted more like blue cheese chicken fettuccini than chicken piccata. Very little to no lemon flavor. Blue cheese as the dominant flavor in piccata? The mushroom side was the least of my issues, but they were just bland and I found myself wishing for salt or something to make them more flavorful. A disappointment all around. I would have expected much more from a restaurant with such a great reputation.
Antonio was great. We loved the Tomahawk, au gratin potatoes, and mac and cheese. The temperature was perfect inside the restaurant.
First time here in a while and everything was great. We’ll be back!
Not at all impressed. Seated at the time of our reservation and folks who seated us were friendly. That's a plus. Downhill from there. Staff was way slow in taking our drink order. (6 p.m. and definitely not full, so no excuse!) Never asked if we wanted to order an appetizer. Waiter was unusually hyper. Not "I'm glad you're here" over-the-top. Weird hyper. Cursed twice while telling a story to us. Keep in mind I was with my 14 yo daughter. She's heard the words before, of course, but stupid for a waiter to curse in front of a child. Food was average...at best. $249 (pre-tip) for two steaks, mac n cheese (no lobster), another side, two orders of shrimp cocktail (3 per order, and they weren't even cleaned properly), one beer and two half salads. No dessert, no other alcohol. Daughter had a Shirley Temple. I don't mind paying for a nice dinner, but the steaks were overcooked, the mac n cheese was tasteless and daughter's "salad" was one tomato wedge, one slice each of fresh mozzarella and one slice of avocodo. Seriously? Ambiance was terrible! Mismatch of tables, crappy sports memorabilia, and terrible art. Floors looked like concrete that once had tile over it, but the tile was removed and contractor didn't know what to do with it after that. For my money, Neighborhood Services beats this place IN EVERY WAY. We won't be back!
