The menu is modern British with an eclectic mix of Albert’s favourites and dishes from around the globe, all using only fresh local ingredients. The restaurant is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.
Really nice atmousphere and food- as always the staff are polite and friendly. The new look to Alberts since the re-opening is great!
Good food as always. Menu not changed much despite new opening. Bar service still a bit slow so order many drinks in one go.
We went to Alberts last night to celebrate my birthday. We ordered drinks which took 35 mins to arrive, this was due 2 big orders being done at the bar. I had emailed the reservations address that morning to let them know that there were 6 instead of 7 coming but had no reply that it had been received or confirmed.
When we ordered our food we made them aware that one of our party was Gluten free and was highly sensitive to it. When the Starters came he had ordered the mussels which came with a piece of bread
which we thought was gluten free which it wasn't. The Lamb and Halloumi salad wasn't the best the mint yogurt was buried under a lot of salad leaves and looked like it had been put together in a hurry. When the mains arrived my order had been missed completely so had to wait while everyone else ate. When mine arrived, the potato dauphinoise that came with my steak were near burnt on top and the sea bass which one my parents ordered was cooked near enough to a crisp. Also 2 out of the 3 pizzas we ordered had burnt bases.
Seemed to be very under staffed. Only seemed to be half the staff compared to the old Alberts and most of the staff we hadn't seen before. On a positive note the waitress who was serving us was very attentive and apologetic about the service we had received.
When the bill arrived it was over £240. We felt it was not worth the value. Left the night very disappointed as we have been coming to Alberts for many years and never had a problem. The old Alberts was far better. unfortunately we wont be visiting Alberts again the future, it is such a shame.
Nice new decor and good menu very vast and food quality was good. Service could have been a bit better on drinks. Our waiter did his best to chase up the bar staff though.
Family birthday meal. Waitress took at least 10 mins to welcome us and take our drink orders. We were just sat waiting. Kids getting bored. Waitress seemed disinterested, no rapport or effort. Couldn’t find the non alcoholic wine. Coffee arrived after desert and kids just wanted to go. Food was good and delivered promptly but evening never recovered from poor first impression and luke warm table service. Wouldn’t rush back.
We were looking so forward to going to one of our favourite restaurants after it’s recent refurbishment, however we soon realised the refurb was to fits more people in and we were seated on a table that I could barley get into and I’m slim. We couldn’t talk as we could hear the
Conversation of the other diners either side of us and it was not a pleasant experience, we would go back but I would have to request not to be seated in these bench rows of tiny tables, what a shame, it just wasn’t the same experience.
Was seated next to the kitchen, the noise and heat was unacceptable. Leather seats added to the issues. Mentioned it to 2 people. 1 didn’t even acknowledge it and the manageress laughted it off. Food is normally nice but was put off due to the heat. Was in for a surprise romantic meal before heading to the airport for my partners 40th. Shame it wasn’t what it was meant to be.
I would because previous visit were excellent
Unfortunately this time our Oder was wrong and very slow so it was not a good experience
Excellent customer service great food lot's of good choice. Generous portions. Always have a wonderful dinning experience.
First visit since it has been renovated and have to say I was impressed. I liked the old style but the new one is very slick. The food was as good as ever and the prices haven't gone up to pay for the renovations which is impressive. Staffwere obviously new and under training but overall up to its usual high standards.
We went as they had just re opened after refurbishment. There was a little delay on service but i guess just teething problems due to new staff so understandable. Overall an amazing place with amazing food would definitely go back
Disappointed. Had to wait 40 minutes for my booked table . Service was very slow. Sat at table 15 minutes and had to go and find someone to serve us. Long delay between starters and mains. Serving staff very polite.
I thought the decor was lovely and like the booth seating in the bar and restaurant however we waited a long time to be served and then a long wait for the drinks to arrive and then had to ask three times to pay the bill.
Great food and great service. Sunday set lunch menu is great value & the roast dinner was superb. Made us all feel v welcome and it was buzzy and noisy enough that we felt comfortable having our chatty 2 year old with us for lunch!
I had a lovely time for my birthday but there was a bit of a mess up with my vegans friends order. We were compensated for it. But over all it was a good day. I will return.
The started came out at different times
One meal was over cooked
The staff were very friendly
I have been at this restaurant many times as i live in walking distance. Usually very happy but last sunday we were greeted very nicely as usual and seated, order taken but the wait for the food was intolorable. We did have a Sirloin steak Well Done which we are aware takes a bit longer but this was at least 35 mins. We have this at other restaurants but do not wait this long and we have had this at Alberts in the past - no problem.
The food also was only luke warm but we were fed up waiting so just had it and went.
We eat out every weekend, sat & sunday, so we just want our food ( hot) and our drinks cold and go.
Excellent food, great service just got a little too noisy for us- but it was St Patrick’s Day!
Although it lived up to the wonderful setting that it is. The service was extremely slow and therefore let the place down.
Eggs Benedict missing the eggs, Two eggs then brought over on a separate plate rather than the whole dish being replaced. One potion of toast missing from a full English breakfast. The muffins the the Eggs Benedict were served on were rock hard on both of the dishes we ordered. Reported to the Supervisor.Over charged for drinks we didn't have.
The refurbished Alberts is more plush than before, and the new menu is superb, there's something for everyone. It costs a little more than some other places, but the quality is really worth it.
Food and service excellent. We were very hot in front of the kitchen area.
I had mentioned it was a celebration for my daughters birthday in an emai- it would have been nice to have some kind of acknowledgement - ie on desert plate or something-didn’t feel quite special enough.
Food, lamb was very cold and very pink which we were not informed of when ordering food. My risotto was spot on. The manager did not charge for the lamb dish which did help somewhat. We have come numerous times and had dishes come out cold. A real shame as when the food is hot its a great place and venue as it is very local.
Exceptional service from a waiter called Daniel. Really polite young man. I had 3 courses and the prices were good value but I felt my chicken could of been bigger. I had the chicken and thyme.
Food was fantastic, Louis the server couldn’t have been more helpful if he tried, he was lovely! Really nice decor since being re-done, will definitely be returning!
big shame, we haven't been for ages as had got disillusioned with the service but after the re-vamp thought we'd give it another chance! It took a long while for them to take our order and then when the starters arrived they had missed my scallops off ! I had to sit and watch my husband and kids eat their starters and then when they came to clear plates, (not to check all was fine with the starters) I asked where mine was and they confessed they hadn't heard me say it or ordered it. They did offer to make but we would have had to wait and i would have then been dining alone. The waiter should have read our order back to ensure nothing was missed. My husband had steak that was meant to be medium well ,more medium rare to be honest. He then had an upset stomach when we got home. We wont be coming back anytime soon! Shame as it used to be great food and great service a couple of years back but has gone downhill.
The new alterations are fine for the extended seating area in the bar but to the expense of the room available in the full dining area. The 4 tables for 2 adjacent to the kitchen are far too close and would spoil a intimate evening or a private conversation etc. Would be better suited to reducing this area to just 3 tables
As a regular customer at Alberts,
today’s experience did not go too well. One of the party had a drink spilt all over them. The steak came out smothered in a sauce that wasn’t advertised on the menu, the wrong fish and chips arrived too. Then to top it off when correct meals came out the chips were cold. Table service was excellent and management gave us a discount on the food. I am sure this experience was down to it being their first Saturday open and hopeful it won’t happen again.
Visited with a friend following the refurbishment. Ambience was great, service brilliant. Food was good but not great, in hindsight I’d ordered the wrong meal for me. Was still lovely though. I would recommend
We all enjoyed Alberts Didsbury. The décor is beautiful. The food is really good and the lunch menu very good value at £12.50. It was very noisy when we were there on Saturday afternoon and difficult to chat. We were there to celebrate a Ruby Wedding anniversary and thought we might be offered complimentary prosecco or some other treat to make the occasion special but this was not to be. Our main waiter was very good. There was some confusion with one meal having the wrong potatoes which had to be returned to the kitchen and also drinks added to the bill that were not available that day.
We visited Alberts (Didsbury) on Saturday [16/03/19] for the first time since the refurbishment. We loved the decor and the new colour scheme and the bar looks great, everything else was much the same. However, we were rather disappointed that the seating arrangements have now changed so that the smaller tables for two people are away from the windows and the seating for larger parties are now situated by the window.
We found it difficult to have a conversation today as the music was very loud and obviously the chefs serving area is also quite noisy, something we had never noticed on our previous visits prior to the refurb.
We are frequent visitors to both this restaurant and to Alberts Shed in Castlefield as we enjoy both the food and the service at these establishments and have got to know the staff quite well but the new seating arrangements in the Didsbury restaurant may now mean that our choice of venue is no longer an option until perhaps the warmer weather when we can opt to eat outside.
We hope this review is received as constructive criticism and that some consideration may be given to offering diners a choice to be seated away from speakers or noisy areas within the restaurant.
Fantastic food, fantastic service! Albert’s is back with a vengeance!
We had been waiting for the reopening of Alberts and were really pleased to get in on Friday.
The place wasn't as busy as I expected but I suspect this was due to the new staff. They appeared to be quite young and relatively inexperienced. Although they did really well.
The changes in the menu were welcome (I think a seasonal change would be good too). Our server, Michael, was excellent, very attentive, helpful and pleasant.
Already booked for Sunday morning breakfast.
Welcome back Albert!!!
We dined on the opening night of the newly refurbished restaurant... The service was great, food delicious and the refurb looks fabulous!!! Great night out! Will definitely be back very soon
Food amazing as usual credit to the chefs will be coming back very soon , done a great job with the refurb
We had a lovely time for our friends 65th, excellent service from waiter Louis!
Adore Alberts. It’s my absolute favourite “Go-To”’eatery in Didsbury.
Nothing in the area come close.
So when they reopened; after nearly three months closure; I was disappointed with the result.
I was expecting ‘fantastic’ from ‘amazing’
Instead; it was ‘fantastic’ but just not so amazing.
Food is excellent as ever; table service very good to.
Bar staff required a lot more training; after mixing incorrect drinks; but hey-ho; nobody’s perfect.
The icing on the cake; was having another tables bill; added to mine. It was resolved; and with me having a soft spot for the place; I put it down to glitches after the reopening.
Alberts; so good; I said it “twice”
Have missed whilst closed but was very disappointed with the food on the re-opening hopefully this was just a blip.
Our waiter was very attentive. Food great . Love the new decor
Great to be back all the staff really friendly and attentive Food was excellent and new decor very pleasing
Air conditioning a little chilly but for a first day opening it was most enjoyable
Looking forward to next visit .
