Had been looking to go here for some time and it did not disappoint in any way. Super service and a cracking little menu with food well up to standard in terms of presentation and taste. No hesitation in recommending.
I have to say it's the second time we've met at this fantastic gem of a restaurant. I had been online looking for a central location enabling all my family members to meet up as each family member was coming from a different location, South East London, Kent and East Sussex.
We all found this place very warm, friendly and inviting and such great food together with a brilliant service for a realistic price. I would also add that It's not one of those restaurants where it takes you hours to read the menu either, they have a small but tastefully varied menu that suits everyone's taste buds, together with an excellent selection of quality wines.
I would certainly recommend this restaurant for any occasion; the parking is also a great plus as it's just at the rear of the restaurant. So easy for such a centrally located position.
Expert and imaginative cooking, truly special dishes with immaculate presentation. Attentive and discreet staff. Pleasant quiet ambience. Excellent.
Excellent food, lovely atmosphere - high end without seeming pretentious.
Great quality, we'll presented delicious food with good service.
Alberts Table is by far the best restaurant in the area. I only treat myself twice a year but experience is always exceptional from food to outstanding service.
This is my third visit to Albert's Table with friends who had not previously visited, they enjoyed the food and restaurant ambience. My meal was good but not a WOW! for the main but the banana ice cream was excellent.
Brought two friends for their first visit. They were bowled over by the food and service. They appreciated the lack of pressure to finish courses and the meal itself.
Regular wine dinner. Albert's Table does a wine dinner every two months. Last night's featured a range of Italian wines which we thought showed well - especially a chardonnay from Sicily which had plenty of body. The food however we felt disappointed. The canapes were tasty, and the creme caramel souffle to finish was light. For the rest we thought they lacked distinctive flavours. Some nice green vegetables would have added colour to the dishes, and fresh fruit at the end would have added some sharpness to otherwise rather bland food. The chef proprietor can do much better than this.
3rd visit to Albert's table ... although it's not cheap - it's like nothing else in Croydon and a real treat.
Food was good but not outstanding, main course was the best
All 3 of us were disappointed with our dessert
Staff we're excellent and very helpful
A lovely dining experience.
The food is always amazing.
The Dorset crab tart is a winner every time.
Good find in unlikely setting in Croydon- would definitely go again
Ate with friends Friday nuight. Food great service great
This was my first time dining at Albert's Table - although I'd heard about it several years ago, and I've been meaning to find out if it was as good as I'd heard for ages. My wife and I were both very impressed by the quality of the food and the excellent service. It was a wedding anniversary dinner, so I wanted to book somewhere with a good reputation but which we'd not been to before. We both chose the Hereford beef as out main course, and chose the wine using the recommendations on the comprehensive wine list. I would definitely eat there again and would certainly recommend the restaurant.
Had a v nice dinner with my wife. Service was top notch and the food was excellent. You have to pay the price for that, but it's worth it!
Great service, perfect ambience and great food. It was a pleasure to dine at Alberts table for my girlfriends birthday ad we will be coming back soon!
I booked the table one day in advance for the day after Valentine for lunch because we have a son to look after and we did not manage to do anything for us two on Feb 14.
The restaurant located in a busy high street where there are other different kind of restaurants as well, called South Croydon Food Square.
We were impressed with the waiter as the first sight, he was dressed very professionally and neatly and was cleaning the front door when we entered. The first thing he mentioned to us was our No diary request when I put it there at the booking. He explained to us what the options were. My husband was particularly happy about it, because we have experienced many times when we ordered something with special request and the food still came out with diary product in it, which really let my husband down and stressed. But this waiter made us feel so assured and everything turned out to be perfect. We love the food, you can taste the effort there and they were all very fresh and delicate.
For the value of the money, we ordered two glasses of sparkling to start with, then three starters and one main. I had two starters as a meal. We paid over 65 for two of us, but we left a tenner for the waiter since he was definitely a selling point of the restaurant. I even said to my husband if I ran a restaurant, this waiter is the right kind staff I would look for.
BTW, we like the warm rolls at the start, we recommend the game dish there, like the chicken broth and duck breast starter. They only used the wide ones and you can taste the difference. The lamb is highly recommended too. We are sure the others are equally finest.
Lovely neighbourhood place, the best the locale offers but they've got to keep ahead of the game to stay a destination place.
Decor was a bit tired and 90s and the menu wasn't incredibly exciting, but the food WAS DELICIOUS and the beef, cooked to perfection. Top marks for the wine list, just wished there was more variety by the glass available.
Very poor service . Manager acknowledged and sorted free drinks and free pudding but almost entirely offset by " discretionary service charge left on the bill" . Don't disrespect your customers ... leaves a bad taste in the mouth ... not what you expect from a restaurant with pretentions of grandeur !
I have frequented Alberts Table many times and have always thoroughly enjoyed each and every visit. The food is the best on offer in Croydon in my opinion and never ceases to amaze my palate , the restaurant has a fantastic ambiance and the smells escaping from the kitchen tantalise, even before your chosen dishes arrive at the table and commence war; attacking your tastebuds!
On this occasion I did notice however that table service from the waiting staff was a tad slow which is not something that I have been used to on my previous visits, maybe this was due to the restaurant being fully booked for Valentines day .
Would I recommend this restaurant ; without hesitation !!!
Excellent night out with great food and service we will most definately book here again
Well, the food was very nice. But the service was so, so slow. We were in there for nearly three hours. To be honest I was a bit bored by the end and itching to leave, but even getting someone to bring us the bill took forever. But I must repeat that the food was lovely.
We are here roughly once per month and this time for Sunday lunch. We wanted to return hospitality from friends, and decided to invite them to lunch with us at Albert's Table. It has a certain style, and the restaurant was new to them.
The restaurant has a special menu on Sundays, though it has regular favourites. Our starters included the crab tart (which I have each time!) and the chicken broth. For mains two of us chose the gardeners' pie : a sort of shepherds pie with mixed vegetables instead of meat. I thought it delicious and ideal for vegetarians. Apple crumble followed for three of us, and it was not too sweet. The disappointments were the broth and the fish course, both of which were too salty. Fish is not a strong point at Albert's Table which majors on meat.
Food was lovely. However the service was not great, we arrived at the same time as 2 other groups and they were more attentive to them and served them much quicker than us and often we had to ask twice for the samev thing.
Another excellent meal in a great restaurant. We often eat here and have never been disappointed.
An excellent "Wellington" evening. The beef was superb.
Fine dining in Croydon. Great food, service and drinks. Well worth pushing the boat out for!
To be honest we were disappointed, we we're made to wait for our table despite there being empty tables & people coming in after us being seated before us.
The manager was very apologetic & did her best to rectify with complimentary drinks.
Although the food was delicious & well presented the portions were extremely small for the prices charged.
This was our second visit & I doubt we will return, good food but not enough of it!!!!
We had read many very good reviews of Albert's Table and this was our first visit. Everything about the restaurant lived up to expectations. The food was fantastic and the wine very good and reasonably priced. We intend to go again very soon.
It was nice to return to Albert's Table for dinner. The place was very buzzing. The dorset crab starter was excellent, as was the pork entrée. An excellent place for a special evening.
The food and the overall experience was a little underwhelming to be truly honest. Our waitress and waiter were absolutely lovely. The overall manager was quite stiff. We came to celebrate a birthday (which I made the restaurant aware of beforehand). The dessert she ordered had been decorated with a chocolate Happy Birthday message, but this was plonked on the table without any real acknowledgment from the person who served us. Whilst the fine dining and the interior made me forget I was in Croydon- there was definitely something missing.
Nothing seemed too much trouble, very attentive staff and helpful with dietary quirements.
Food wonderful. Definitely going back!
The food as always was really good. Pity the restaurant was so quiet. Also a pity the wines are now quite expensive if you are going out for a lunch, as is the coffee!
The Red wine was not at room temp and therefore lacked the full flavour one would have expected. The food was up to the normal but the fig and nut lacked taste.
Great food great service fantastic restaurant
Very nice food and the service was impeccable. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Great food, good value, attentive service, definitely a hidden germ in Croydon!
Great menu on New Year's Eve. Fabulous service and environment. We will repeat for sure!
As always an amazing meal at the most fantastic restaurant in South Croydon
