Buttermilk Fried Chicken
bacon mac and cheese, braised collard greens
caramelized fish sauce, toasted nori
couscous, sauted asparagus, mango salsa
We ended up ordering several different appetizers and sharing. We enjoyed the cheese plate; the mussels were amazing; the french fries were not great (too small & just not quite right). We will return.
Tony is the best server ever!!!
Quirky waitress, sexy and delicious food, confident balcony view.
Nice place. Solid drinks selection and great service. Would go again.
We had a great dinner at this neighborhood gem. My husband had the pork chop and he was very satisfied. He said it was probably one of the best he’s had, tender, juicy and full of flavor. I had the cranapple salad which was fresh and delicious. We shared a creme brûlée for desert and it was rich, creamy, crunchy and tasty. If we lived in SF, we would be regulars at this special restaurant.
Long wait at door. Bartender helped me get a cocktail after a server told me that customers waiting for a table can’t be served drinks. Very good cocktail BTW. Comfort food is good and tasty but barely worth the wait and the rote service.
We forgot that it was the Saturday after Valentine’s Day so it took about 15 mins for them to seat us with our reservation but that was the only downside. Our server was great, the food came out right away, it tasted great. Plenty of cocktails and wine to choose from as well. Price point and serving size was great!
We had reservations for my staff of 6 people total at 6PM on a Saturday, and thought that 1.5 hours was enough time to have a nice dinner prior to an event that we had scheduled. Felt kind of rushed when we were given the check immediately following our dinner being served, but decided to pay before we ate. Did not have time to order dessert, for the waiter said it is too busy. Came back after out event, around 9:15 to get desert and were told they were sold out of all food, and even the bar had no ice, said they were closed and would not allow us to sit for coffee or anything. Spent a fortune for what we got, it was good... but not "all that"
Amazing food. Good ambiance and excellent staff! Try the brussell spouts! Mmmm mmm good!
We were very happy with Aliment. The Staff really made the place. Best Brussel Sprouts I’ve ever had! My Husband ordered the Buttermilk Fried Cx. I didn’t know soft cx was a thing.... tasty! We were there on Valentines Day. Good mix of people. 90’s RnB on in the background. Good time. Good vibe.
We went on a Friday night, the place was not too crowded, we were sitting upstairs, but there was one table being extremely loud. Might have been acoustics, but could not hear the person next to each other. The food was great but this ruined the dining experience.
We went for a family Valentines dinner. We could not say enough about each dish. Everything came out hot and the seasonings were wonderful!! My best surprise of the night was the warm goat cheese tart. I wasn’t sure how they would pull it off but the puff pastry did the job- yummy!
We will return
The staff was very cordial and professional. The food was delicious and a good time was had by all
Best brussel sprouts ever and the short ribs great. A nice upstairs environment for easy conversation.
Great drinks and delicious food. Definitely worth trying. One of the best burgers I've ever had.
I went to Aliment for a dinner to take my uncle, who was visiting for work. Situated one block up a hill from Union Square, it generated an atmosphere that was energizing and modern. Something needed after a work day/travel day. The male host was awesome in accommodating us to the best seat in the house on the second level over looking the bar and first level. It was hard at time to hear our waitress, not even being able to remember her name. Food was great as we got the Salmon and Mushroom Fettuccine. I really enjoyed the space and would love to go back
Great for group events! It has a large first floor
The short rib was not up to par. Super salty, for both our portions, which means it was not a fluke. We were still feeling the effect of the super salty meal next day. The polenta was way diluted and mixed with the sauce. It was more like a soup of polenta and sauce with a chunk of short rib on top. The Brussels' sprouts were no big deal. Very poor and overpriced meal. Do not recommend.
This place is totally passable. Don't know how their aggregate ratings are so high. After our visit, "Ailment" is a better name for this restaurant. We made a reservation for our party of four, then waited 20 minutes for a table to open. Why take reservations??
Noting a member of our party had an allergy to high fructose corn syrup and a cocktail we were interested in ordering had ginger beer, we asked about the ingredients in the ginger beer the server replied, "It only has a shot of ginger beer in it." Do you also have a "shot" to stop an allergic reaction? When ordering, we noted another member in our party had an onion allergy. She ordered the salmon. Not only did it come nearly raw inside but with an onion chutney, and the dish was sent back. The replacement dish didn't have onion chutney, but the fish was still raw inside and was sent back a THIRD TIME. When it was, the server argued with our friend who ordered it about the cook. What's the point in arguing with the customer? What's to be gained?
A burger that was ordered medium came nearly raw inside. The burger came back still raw inside. Further, it was the same burger patty. Did that get put back on the grill after a bite had been taken out of it? Is that safe? The burger was sent back a second time and my friend decided he just didn't want anything at all and told the server. Instead, another burger returned, this time cooked medium and was (after complaining) a new burger even though my friend specifically said he didn't want it after all that.
Someone, at the end of our meal, randomly brought a chocolate mousse as a comp to apologize for our experience...but some of the party are low carb so we didn't eWhen our check came NOTHING was comped. We told our server we specifically said we didn't want the burger and it was served anyway and they did take it off, but at that point we were exasperated and done with this place.
You can't take advantage of their HH drink specials if you're a dine in guest which was kind of a bummer because the drinks but overall the food and cocktails were all delish!
The meal and service at Aliment was very good. Second visit to Aliment and no complaints.
The five of us enjoyed our meal, particularly the lamb, fish and meat dishes. Starters were a bit small. More like bites. Cocktails were interesting.
We had a decent dinner. The menu was fairly limited. Drinks were OK and food was OK. Not quite as nice as we expected.
The goat cheese tart, fried chicken, and short ribs were delicious. We also had the doughnuts and the pana cotta. It was all so tasty.
Amazing food! Just the right kind of comfort food for my wife and I and our two teenagers.
Short ribs were AMAZING
Pretty overpriced for the quality of the food. Had to pay extra for 2 pieces of bread.
Okay. Over priced.
Great for families and groups. Kind of loud if you’re looking for an intimate conversation. The food and cocktails are pretty good, with a few standouts like the Brussels sprouts which are awesome. The service is what makes this a good bet though- the staff is friendly and totally on top of things. We had a great night.
The cocktails were watery, and the food was mediocre: the wings, truffle fries, and burgers were good; the goat cheese tart was bland and the salmon was overcooked and dry.
They also have a draconian cancelation policy of $25 per person within 48 hours.
This was better than we thought! Very tasty and the truffle fries were over the top. We sat upstairs which was very noisy! So next time would request downstairs.
Food was really great. Would go back!!!
there was a piece of hair in my food. the waitress took it back and brought a “new” plate out for me. halfway through, realized that it was the original plate, just re-plated and reheated. gross.
we decided to go elsewhere for dessert
Great service, accommodating to our large group, just very loud upstairs.
Short rib was delicious. We ate on the upper level very nice, had nearly a private dining experience. Butternut squash soup was delicious. Chocolate chip bread pudding dessert was outstanding. I would highly recommend this restaurant to people based on food and service.
Love this adorable little restaurant; our go-to before ACT.
The food here is fantastic. The Brussels Sprouts and Salmon did not disappoint. The service was even better than the food. This restaurant is truly a gem.
Wonderful food and surprisingly large portions. Even the small plates were fairly hearty and great for sharing. A great space for dinner with friends or a drink at the bar. Warning, though, that it is incredibly loud with lively conversations, a television, and a very boisterous clientele. You have to yell your conversations to be heard.
The food was SO good and I thought the wine list was priced well. The ambiance is a little bland but overall my BF and I very much enjoyed the experience. The fried chicken will blow your mind.
Just love element. I don’t live in San Francisco I visit frequently and I love to stop there and have dinner.
This restaurant is exactly as advertised. Tasty food in a neighborhood café setting that is very comfortable. The soup was exceptional, as was the fried chicken with bacon mac-n-cheese. Great comfort food, great service, nice people. We will go again the next time we were in San Francisco.
