Alquimia never fails to deliver great food, great service and a buzzing atmosphere.
Service very slow throughout. Waiting staff were lovely but just didn't seem to be chasing up our order... even the bread took forever. And to finish it all off the bill had several mistakes.
Excellent service and food as always. There is something special about Alqumia.
Could not fault any part of our experience! Fantastic!
Great food, friendly staff and excellent value for money! Will definitely be back!
This is undoubtedly the WORST restaurant that I've ever dined at in London.
I was seated and waited 15 minutes before a menu was placed in front of me. I waited a further 10 minutes before a drinks order was taken. Most of the beers had run out/finished (by 7:30pm!) and the glass of red wine had been spilt all the down the stem of the glass.
Food was fine.
We then waited a further 30 minutes for a second drinks order, but one of the drinks was not brought to our table and I had to ask the waiter to bring over the ordered drink. Once the food was finished, the plates remained on our table when we decided enough was enough.
We politely pointed out the poor service to the owner, when we went to the front desk to pay. The owner rudely decided to tell us 'NEVER come back to this restaurant again!'. Not the best customer service ever...
Unless this restaurant drastically improves, I would highly recommend that you DO NOT go here.
Great food and service, good drinks and desserts. Can become expensive with the small plates, but is worth it once in a while
We had dinner with a couple of friends. Decor is cold and place is loud, no soundproofing. I did not receive a menu when seated and we generally had to attract attention to get service. That said, we had a nice evening and the food was very good. The wine matched the food really well.
Fantastic and authentic Spanish food. You really can't get better Spanish food in the U.K..
The food was very good but the service felt a little rushed
good afternoon, it was way to expensive for what it was
Good food with average service, that was overpriced. Lack of atmosphere and ambience. Overall, an ok experience.
We visited Alquimia as a group of friends and felt welcome. The food was good (we had tapas) and the staff were friendly. Quite a relaxed atmosphere but lively as well. We stayed at our table ages after we'd finished dinner and were almost the last to leave but nobody hurried us. A decent place for a night out as a group - plenty of choice and an easy place to be. Would go again
The service was very friendly and personal which made it a great experience
Food always good - especially the garlic prawns - however service is very slow.
This is a lovely restaurant with great staff and the food was really good. They
Slow and abrupt service. Dishes were left empty in the table for about 20 minutes despite the restaurant not being busy or understaffed. Food was very average with a mediocre mixed paella and a very dry tasteless and not well executed roasted cod. Only the croquetas and the crema Catalana were fine. Expensive for that food and service standards
Very enjoyable atmosphere, friendly, not the cheapest restaurant
Food was excellent although let down slightly by the small menu. Website states there should be a specials board but we weren't made aware of one. Ambience could be better as it seemed very bright inside... almost cafeteria-like. Plus the room off to the right of the entrance is a bit echoey and noisy even when only a few tables occupied. Could be excellent and maybe better as a lunch venue perhaps.
Like many river-side restaurants, gorgeous view, mediocre food, great service.
Food was great.
Amazing restaurant specially their paellas. We went to celebrate a birthday and service an food were amazing. Jose the owner took care of us really well.
Authentic , good quality tapas.
Staff were very friendly. The ham croquettes were yum!
Good was distinctly average. Served fairly Luke-warm.
Service was relatively slow and the wine by glass menu needs a look at.
we have been here a few times and it is always excellent in all areas and the food is really
as good as it gets outside of Spain
I am Spanish. I went to Alquimia (not for the first time) with my wife to celebrate our anniversary. We pre-ordered the Paella with Lobster with a starter of "gambones". It was simply amazing. The service was also very good. And the value is quite reasonable for London. I will be back.
A little noisy (an office outing was well lubricated) but otherwise a superb meal. Great service, some of the freshest King prawns we've ever eaten, Jamon Iberico that melts in the mouth and a wonderful salad. A great place for a date, or just a fun night out.
A steady go-to option. Menu maybe needs refreshing. Helpful friendly staff. Decent wine choice requires you to pay up, the cheaper wines are a bit poor
wasn't as great as we've experienced before. Paella was nice but the rest of the starters didnt impress as much as usual. Day's special king prawns were mushy and rather average.
We were slightly disappointed having tried Alquimia for the first time, as we are Tapas lovers.
The atmosphere inside the restaurant is very bare and cold, and feels distinctly like a chain restaurant. The staff are friendly but once it gets busy the place has too many tables and not enough staff to provide attentive service, so you have to try and catch the waiters' attention most of the time. The food is very disappointing, there is nothing authentic about their tapas unfortunately, the dishes are plain and luke warm interpretations of the classics, and although perfectly edible, this is not the place to go if you want to experience a true taste of Spain.
The wine list however is impressive and we had a great reasonably priced bottle of Spanish red, so if you want a nice glass of red with a perfectly acceptable snack by the river on a sunny day Alquimia will do.
High quality food, efficient but a bit brusque service, boxy room makes for a loud environment
Service was prompt, though it's nice to be given a menu even if you're still waiting for fellow diners to arrive - that didn't happen. The food arrived pretty quickly, and was good (especially the tuna tartare) but portions even by tapas standards at the price were a bit measly. I'm used to paying around £4 - £6 and this was mainly £7 upwards. £14 for 4 large garlic prawns! Wine was also pricey (though the one we had was excellent) - nothing around the £20 mark or less. It's not a restaurant with a luxury vibe and it lacked atmosphere (though it was early evening). I'd recommend for the quality of food and wine to someone with deep pockets - per head it worked out at £29 each with 3 sharing a bottle of wine and just 5 dishes
Our second visit here 6 months apart. Service was great, food gorgeous, delicious wine! A lovely evening!
Frankly we were disappointed. The ambience was flat, with no candles on the table even though it was Valentine's Day. The service was lacklustre, the waitresses not friendly or welcoming enough. The tapas were decent but nothing special. I wouldn't recommend it and I wouldn't go back there. They need to work a lot harder.
Visited with a friend and must say food is of a very high quality, the best paella I have eaten in London! We ordered a selection of tapas and Red King Prawn Paella and must say it was just outstanding. The ambience of the restaurant is just fantastic and would recommend it to everyone. I am spanish and love good food and must say you have all the brands and products you would expect t have in a good restaurant in Spain. Jose was the perfect host, could not be happier and will return shortly!
Really outstanding Spanish food. Would come back here repeatedly (and have!)
First time visiting and had a wonderful experience. Food and wine selection was set up to meet a wide variety of tastes and price points.
Standard tapas offering with some twists (aubergine with rosemary honey was a new one for me) plus some house creations like tuna tartare with guacamole. All very good.
Staff was attentive. It did get a bit loud at times but not to the detriment of the evening.
Would recommend and visit again, especially when things warm up to sit outside along the Thames.
Being half Spanish I'm quite fussy about my tapas and when my favourite Tapas restaurant closed I couldn't find anywhere that I liked. But after discovering this lovely restaurant, I am happy to report you cannot get a more authentic flavour of Spain than here. Food is delicious and although a little more expensive than I'm use to paying, its an ideal place for special occasions or for Spanish Foodies. I definitely recommend this place.
Visited Alquimia for Sunday lunch with a friend. I had been wanting to try it for some time, based on published reviews from some demanding food critics. It lived up its reputation. The food was very good and the service was welcoming and efficient. It would have been nice to see a chicken dish or one more vegetarian option, but overall, it was a terrific dining experience. The starters, in particular, were amazing. I can't wait to return in the warmer weather to grab a seat with a view of the river and sip some Sangria! Ole!
