Glaswegians are spoilt for choice when it comes to great places to eat & Alston aims to raise the bar for meat lovers even further by serving the best steak the city has to offer. Choose from a selection of 35 day dry-aged steaks, including the Chateaubriand to share or Glasgow’s favourite, the fillet. All our Scotch beef is carefully chosen from accredited farms each renowned for producing quality beef, full of flavour & tenderness.
A perfect dining experience. Food is exquisite and the service is top notch!
Experience dining here was brilliant. Fantastic food. Fantastic service. Booked through OpenTable, quick and easy. I booked this for my first anniversary with my girlfriend and we were given a complimentary glass of prosecco each. We both had the D-Rump Steak from the Set Menu and it was the best steak I've had so far in Glasgow. Will definitely be back!
Amazing atmosphere and even better food, cannot wait to go back to try the Sunday roast!!
Lovely atmosphere, lighting, and food was all amazing
First visit and will definitely be back. Great selection on set menu and amazing food, great value for money.
My boyfriend and I went here for his birthday meal- it was amazing! Great food, great service- only problem was finding the front door!! (Next to paper chase inside central station.) We’ll be back !
Would perhaps recommend but not totally sure. We were in for a quiet meal for a 60th and were next to a really rowdy bunch, inappropriate chat and smashed few glasses. Maybe should have been evicted quicker than they were. Staff very good food slow to arrive but we were in no hurry really.
Great food and drink. Staff were attentive and helpful. It has never let me down.
Very enjoyable lunch. Well worth a visit. Steak was one the best I have eaten out
Amazing as always, never fails to disappoint. Best steak in Glasgow.
Went along with family and friends. The restaurant was lovely and the food was excellent. However, we waited 30 minutes for drinks and over an hour for our first course. Just lacked a personal touch and attention to customers.
The food was excellent. The staff where very friendly x
a very enjoyable night will be happy to dine there again . would have liked too see the price of meals to include veg, fries etc and not have to pay supplements for them also surcharge for various sauces
Location excellent pre Hydro event - two minutes from platform. Flat iron steak off the fixed menu was chewy. Meal otherwise was OK but slightly over priced. Service good but bar which was in full view of seating was piled with dirty and clean glasses - not good housekeeping
Really good vibe and great service. Starters and desserts lovely, roast beef was delicious well done but not so nice rare.
Great service, food and drink. Cooked to perfection as always
The drinks and service were excellent.
BUT. Food was below average. Stale sour dough bread, dry chicken and soggy fish. Stick to the steak and you should be ok.
Great food and service in an evocative atmosphere. Well worth a visit to this tucked away gem of a restaurant
Best steak, best service, best ambience just the best
Amazing food and service cannot find fault with this place. Family meal including a 9 year old all loved it.
Went for the Sunday Roast which was fantastic and great value!
Just love this restaurant, gorgeous food, amazing cocktails and fantastic staff!
Wonderful service, cool ambiance/setting and delicious food and cocktails.
great service, more than accommodating coming early, portions bigger than expected.
Great steak, gorgeous cocktails & amazing staff
Service was fantastic and the food was so delicious. Highly recommend to all friends and family, especially for Sunday roast
Stopped for Sunday lunch before heading off to the airport and had been looking forward to it for a couple of days and it was well worth the wait the food was excellent as was the service I left pleasantly full and thus was able to avoid overpriced poor airport food
the venue was really lovely , our waiter was fantastic, really lovely young man , helpful and knowledgeable. Food was great, especially the puddings
Lovely value for money meal served by friendly efficient staff
Food as always is great but somewhat overpriced for what you actually get.
We went to Alstons after a show at the hydro as we wanted a Sunday roast and they had the 2 courses for £18 offer. We were not disappointed.
The staff are very efficient and friendly. Thrre was a customer complaining for no valid reason which was handled very well, however the poor girl was left in tears. We thought she was amazing so we decided to show her she was appreciated and got her some flowers which made her cry, oops but at least they were tears of joy.
No such issues for anyone else in the restaurant which was busy and had a great atmosphere. The food was outstanding. I had soup and the beef. My husband had the chilli feta and the roast chicken. Both starters were great but it was the main that confirmed our revisit next Sunday! Cooked perfectly our plate was brimming with creamy mash, crispy roast potatoes, baby carrots, broccoli and a large Yorkshire pudding with lashings of gravy accompanying perfect chicken and beef rump. It was a feast and everything was perfect. My mouth is watering as I recall how good it was.
I look forward to a long term relationship with this, out of the way, and out of this world restaurant.
Visited last week and we were seated at a table directly next to a work station my shoulder completely against the wooden side. At once point had staff putting knives and forks into boxes inches from my face. Brought the unacceptable positioning of this table to a staff member who it turned out to be a manager offered to move us as we were just about to start mains decided just to eat and leave. Food was good but portions very small and we are not particularly big eaters. That table needs to be removed profit(squeeze in as many tables as possible)over customer comfort most definitely a priority here
Very enjoyable Sunday roast dinner, roast rump and all the trimmings was delicious. Reasonable value for money and very good service.
I was pretty disappointed with the level of service, we were sat for over half an hour without a drinks when they took our drinks order there weren’t some of the ingredients left for the cocktails we had ordered which wasn’t very good but they gave us alternatives that were similar to what we had ordered. All night we had to ask for things like ask the waitress to take away empty plates that were taking up space on the table, we had to walk over to the other side of the restaurant to get the waitresses attention to inform her that she forgot to take our sauce order for our steaks, we ordered bread to have before our mains and our bread arrived approx two minutes before our main course, we asked for our steak medium rare and it was more medium on the middle and well done on the outer corners... when the waitress came over she tried to question me by telling me that it was medium rare when it certainly was not I have eaten in some of the best steak houses around the world and I always order it medium rare. she was attentive tho and took out cocktails off the over all bill for us as an apology. I was disappointed as I had heard good things about the restaurant but I feel like we probably just went on the wrong day, the food was good but got cold very quickly as our table was sat beside a fire exit with a cold draft in which the staff kept on entering, another thing I was pretty offended by was there was a footballer who came into the restaurant with his partner and the waitresses and waiters were constantly asking them if they need anything and if everything was alright with their meal, it was a bit of a kick in the teeth when we were sat beside them and had to ask for EVERYTHING especially at the end of our meal when all our food and drinks were finished and we sat for over half an hour waiting for our table to be cleared. I just had higher hopes for my experience but over all the food was good, just wish I left happier than I arrived!
One of my favourite places for steak, ambience and location. We will be back
Disappointing experience, gone downhill badly since last visit. Seemed to want to rush through service with plated removed as soon as last mouthful taken. Number of menu items unavailable
Yes, the food was excellent, The steak was much better than I would expect on a set menu. Only downside was there was no onion rings!
Although food and place amazing the fact that a member of cooking staff used toilet and left without washing hands ( unfortunately I had just finished eating or would have refused to eat anything ) and mix up over bill being wrong but nobody listened , I wouldn't go back or reccomend sorry
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and already plann6the next one!
Great cocktails in bar pre-dinner, excellent food, the steak was cooked superbly (again) will definitely be back.
