Alston's Beef Jerky
Absolutely over joyed at finding this restaurant. A jewel in the Crown. Could not fault it,from the meeting staff bar staff waiting staff.food excellent best roast beef Sunday lunch in Glasgow. Amazing price ,would have payed double .Will definitely be back and recommending to family and friends,10/10
Great place serving good food, would definitely recommend and would go again. Service was top notch.
Fantastic meal and drinks, would highly recommend!
5th visit and it has never disappointed. Atmosphere is good, service good and the Chateau Briand is a must.
Very impressed with restaurant would definitely return.
Amazing food and great service. Best steak I've ever had, definitely be back.
Service was great, swift and always at hand. All thru the meal there was an annoying drip from pipe work above my head which kept dripping on my clothes. Food was amazing and as long as I wasn’t seated at the same table I’d definitely go back!
We have ate here a few times and the food has always been lovely. This time however the steaks were not great quality for the price you are paying. Staff were lovely but felt a bit rushed. Didn’t like the service charge added for a table of 3…not sure if we will return which is disappointing :-(
Great food, great location. We will definitely go back.
You know exactly what you are going to get at Alstons, great food, great service with a friendly and informal atmosphere. We go every time we dine out in Glasgow - special and well worth a visit.
We've been before and found the food okay but on this occasion the steaks were disappointing - poor quality and almost impossible to cut with the steak knives provided! For such a limited menu we had expected exceptional quality.
Enjoyed an excellent meal at this restaurant; food beautifully cooked with service excellent. Highly recommeded.
excellent steak cooked to perfection. Good portion sizes, great drinks selection. Will be back.
Booked for Saturday night at 8pm.
All was going well ordered our dinner it arrived and the chateaubriand for 2 was so tough it was a struggle to cut with a knife. We are what we could because we waited over 40 minutes, which was fine as we were told this because of cooking times. The chips were under cooked and greasy so we couldn’t eat this. We did complain at the time. The server then said she would get a manager over. He came over I told him the same thing he took the plates away and we never saw him again until we were leaving and he was sitting having a beer near the bar! No wanting to spoil other people’s night my wife said just pay the bill and she would email about our disappointment. So we asked for the bill and when it arrived there was things on it that we hadn’t even ordered, so we sorted that paid the bill and left very unhappily. We got on the train home and my wife emailed right away. Still no reply to her email! Very let down as we have ate here numerous times before and have always enjoyed it!
Steak was amazing and the chipotle Mac and cheese! The service was superb and I really appreciate the waitress taking the time to suggest a white wine for us! A fabulous night for my boyfriend’s birthday, we will be back for sure!
Food doesn't live up to expectations. We were really looking forward to our meal but the food was a let down.
Was such a lovely place. Only thing to mental was that a lady of your staff was cleaning tables next to us. She sprayed the cleaning product very free hand and I did end up with it on my arms. However I understand you were busy just a little but more care could have been taken. Thankyou for a lovely night:)
Good food, shame about the service. 15 minutes seated before being asked to order drinks. Not asked again if we wanted another drink. Not offered desert menu after meal. Receipt thrown on table after payment as requested the 10% service charge was removed from bill. No one even asked why we weren’t happy with the service.
Shame as the food was good. Service staff letting the kitchen down a bit here.
Food was top notch, service was quick but not rushed. Cracking meal in a great setting! You don't need to leave Glasgow Central for a good night in Glasgow!
Beer choices very limited. Food was amazing and beef cooked to perfection
Epic! Amazing drinks, food spot on, great staff, perfect location!
Food very good, though I do feel overpriced. If you don't order sides then really it's not enough. We ordered 2 fillet steaks and at that price I would expect side included. A few bits of broccoli for 4.50 seems ridiculous.
Staff friendly, though feel their dress code could do with brushing up, far too studenty! Service charged added to bill will no comment, and I feel we paid too much as we moved to bar area and had drinks there, not knowing it would be added to bill so paid way too much, instead of charging the fee to bill when at dining table.
Excellent steaks, service was good. Would recommend.
Wow what an absolute gem of a place!! Actually the finest Sunday roast ever and (tucked away) but right in the station which was perfect for our journey back to Wales 🏴
If we’re ever back we will definitely visit again xxx
Absolutely superb Sunday roast! It was delicious and the service was lovely :)
We have dined at Alston Bar & Beef before however this time we left very disappointed. The general standard of service has dropped dramatically.
Our aperitif took a long time to arrive, firstly they were served to the wrong table. When our wine was poured our server spilled some on the table and my glass (red wine) and instead of wiping this he simply put the wine bottle on top of the spill to 'hide it'.
Our chateaubriand went cold within 5 minutes of it being on the table as the serving dish it came in was cold. The food is served in copper dishes which could easily be warmed to keep the food from going cold. The mac & cheese was cold also.
We finished our meal with a cocktail at 'the bar', however there was no bar space to sit at as it was covered in used, unwashed glasses. The bar is the first thing you see as you walk into the restaurant and it was a sight for sore eyes. It was unpleasant to sit at so we quickly finished our drinks and went elsewhere.
When booking we were asked if it was for a special occasion and I noted we were on our Honeymoon and there was no mention of this; not even a congratulations from our server which is normally a hospitable touch from other restaurants.
The food, service and drinks where all outstanding. Best steak I have ever had without a doubt. We will definetly be back. Thanks again
Food was outstanding. Service first class. Team couldn’t have been any nicer or done more for us.
We always have a lovely time at Alstons. Only thing missing was the good staff they used to have.
The food was excellent as usual.
The atmosphere still good.
We will definitely be back with all our family.
Poor atmosphere, poor service, good food though, steak cooked good
Steak is phenomenal! So they definitely live up to the best steak in Glasgow. We were there for our anniversary. Just found the staff really odd. Obviously they were wearing masks, but the approach to customers was really unwelcoming. Staff didn’t know the menu, didn’t know what drinks were being served, when our dinner came it was just abruptly put on the table, really strange and the plates looked so bare. No little side to the steak (like salad or a small extra) … there was no bubbly service or happy staff.
We overheard 2 tables next to us saying the same thing. Food excellent, service not so much. Also a “tip/service charge” was added on which we thought was quite presumptuous? There’s no way we would of left a tip! We love to tip great service and certainly would of had it been deserved. If they service matched the food, it would be a winner all round! :-)
Steak was nice but the restaurant was cold so the food went cool very quickly. That was a shame because it is a really smart setting under central station. There is a limited menu but if you are looking for steak you will be fine.
Didn’t like that they added a service charge on for a table of 2. I like to leave my own tip for the service but over all had a nice meal and pleasant service
Love this restaurant been many times and will keep coming back, Steak is the best you will get anywhere, only criticism was the chips, not how they use to be when it was the chunky chips this time it was thinner not as tasty, not sure if freshly cooked or from frozen, other then that everything else was first class, from the service to the top quality steak and lovely wine
Fantastic food and atmosphere. Service was top notch!!
Absolutely delicious meal and great service and value for money. Will definitely be back
Meal for two after not being in town for quite a few years. We liked that the restaurant was in the train station as it saved walking very far. We liked the small menu, and that the food was of a very good quality: rib eye (medium) and sirloin (well done) were both cooked as requested, and the accompaniments were also tasty. The restaurant was very quiet, which suited us, the staff were friendly and efficient, and the surroundings were clean and inviting. We intend to return in the future.
Had a beautiful Anniversary meal. Both service and quality of food were first class and we will definitely be back.
food was amazing especially for the price and the service was great!
Lovely Sunday roast, perfectly cooked and very tasty.
Will definitely be back for another one
Outstanding service and the food was fabulous
