My wife and I eat at Amazon last week - the two meals were fine but towards the end of my Lamb I felt something odd and metallic in my mouth - when extricated, it resembled a large staple!!!! The manager was called and he investigated - to his credit, he returned after his investigation and explained (with profuse apologies) that it had come from a wire brush that they use to clean down the grill. He handled the situation very well.
Goodness knows what harm would have been caused to my digestion system if I had swallowed the thing - I very nearly did.
They didn't charge for the meal which was the least to be done and we were promised that their Head Office would be in touch with further compensation for the incident and the genuine anxiety that it caused us.
We were distinctly unimpressed when a voucher for a bottle or Prosecco arrived in the post - hardly appropriate recompense for such a serious lapse in health and safety. The gravity of the incident was not lost on the Manager but their Head Office clearly haven't a clue about customer service.
If they had treated us with an apt level of respect, I would not be posting this review.
Disgruntled of Stamford
We were left rather bemused by our initial introduction. Having introduced ourselves we were led to a table whereby the man sat two menus on a table and continued walking away, we weren't asked if the table suited us, we weren't offered a drink and we didn't initially get informed of any specials, we felt unwelcome. After 5 minutes a girl appeared and after explaining my annoyance at the former she did her best to look after us. However having said this the specials were rattled of the top of her head and we were left to try and remember the selection and compare with the menu.
Going back to the food I had the clams and they were delicious. I had the duck but it was as tough as an old boot but again overall very tasty.
Booked Amarone prior to going to the theatre on Saturday. The meal and service was excellent as usual and the restaurant is in a great place - close to centre and Playhouse theatre.
amaarone serves good food and has pleasant service.
the toilets are a long way down in the basement---should be a notice to warn ladies of a certain age---lucky had been before so knew to go to disabled so didn't get caught out . !!!!
Great food and service, Amarone has an excellent central location in Edinburgh
Highly recommend this restaurant, I have been many times now , try the scallop dishes or the pasta dish made with balsamic, mushrooms and pine nuts followed by the best cheesecake in town! The service here is second to none, all the staff are attentive and very helpful - if you book ask to be seated at Maria's station !
We enjoyed our meal at Amarone. The service was good and the waiters friendly. We had a nice booth with plenty room for 4 people. The only complaint was there was only one bottle of rose wine on the menu. Would have liked more of a choice.
Really enjoyed everthing about Amarone. Will definitely return. Our teenage children loved it too.
I took my parents to Amarone in Edinburgh for dinner on a busy festival weekend. We had an excellent booth table in the corner of a buzzing atmosphere. The food and service were excellent and my parents enjoyed it very much. Would definitely recommend, and will definitely be back!
I booked this restaurant for a pre Tattoo meal for myself and my autistic son not knowing what it would be like. I could not have chosen a better place. The atmosphere was very relaxed, the staff friendly and very efficient, they treated my son with respect and charm and made the whole experience a pleasure for both of us. The food was superb and arrived promptly and there was no feeling of being rushed. Important for us was a very clean disabled toilet. Thank you to everyone at Amarone, I will definitely recommend you to friends and family.
Although I have rated the service as good there was nothing wrong only a little slow. Perhaps due to a busy Saturday evening crowd. This however did not detract from the excellent food.
This was my second time dining in Amarone and i was not disappointed. The foccacia with ricotta, spinach and caramelised onion is a must try - very good. I had the tiger prawn and crab meat risotto and it was also delicious. The others had pizzas and gave them good reviews too. Overall food, service and ambience were great but i thought it was a tad on the pricey side. I know there is a set lunch and dinner menu but this is only up to 6.30pm. If there were more special offers available through Toptable i would eat here much more often.
we had a great night here - food was good - great service and good food options
Service was good and would have rated food higher but the starters arrived luke warm.
Food was fantastic at Amarone in Edinburgh
Pleasant enough for a birthday dinner. But no wow factor.
a lovely 2 course lunch special at amarone, edinburgh
the only problem is the time it takes to get to the toilets, down a spral staircase, then still through 2 more doors !!!! no warning of this------having vertigo and a weak knee i would have asked where the disabled toilet was----had to ask for next time
We visited on a very busy Easter Saturday and expected to have to wait a little longer, but were very pleasantly surprised to find the service was very good.
Staff were attentive but without being over zealous. The food was execellent and very good value for money. The wine was priced in a reasonable zone.
Only downside of the visit was lack of toilet paper in the ladies.
Overall a very pleasant experience.
My 3rd visit - but first at a lunch time. The set menu is perhaps slightly dearer than the eateries close by but the difference in the quality and taste is worth every extra penny. House wine is good and reasonable and therefore overall a good venue at a fair price. Despite always being busy - even outwith normal lunch hours the service is good and at the same time you do not feel you are being hussled out.
At the Amerone in Edinburgh on Friday 31st March for a family renunion we thoroughly enjoyred the food and the service, however we were absolutely frozen and had to keep our coats on.
Food good especially enjoyed the pasta dish reasonable priced. Found it all a bit impersonable and noisy. Nothing special to make a second visit
Amarone Edinburgh. Food was very good. Service not great and managed to get two out of four orders wrong.
This is a very bright and cheerful Italian Restaurant. The food was delicious and very competitively priced for central Edinburgh.
The staff were helpful and accommodating.
The food was yummy. There was a very adventurous selection of cocktails! The food was pretty good value. It was quite loud in there, but we would go again!
A busy Saturday night and my second visit to the restaurant. Enjoyed it far more than the first time. Service once again excellent. Food better than first visit though once again the bread selection (on the menu with olives) could be fresher and more exciting. Once again we had to ask for oil & vinegar which should either be offered or served as a matter of course in an Italian restaurant. However, the staff are excellent and given our reservation had not gone through, dealt with it very well.
Amarone in Edinburgh is a great place to eat - very central, great food and excellent service. The menu is extensive and the wines reasonable priced.
Visited once before as part of large group of 30 and was impressed with service and quality of food. This time we were a party of 4. We had the same waitress and she remembered us from 3 months ago!!! Great atmosphere. Food still really good. Staff attentative and informed.
Amarone Edinburgh - Bustling vibrant restaurant in a great central location, but a bit cold for my liking, however I have had better meals, the scallop starter had too much sunblushed tomato paste, the scallops were very small and the pancetta overpowered their flavour. The Halibut main was pretty bland too but the pinenut and mushroom was delicious.
Amarone, Edinburgh - Nice modern restaurant, good food at affordable prices. Definitely worth a return visit.
Have been to Amarone before but wanted to take my husband - plus he was keen to taste for himself the best pizza ever! Requested a booth - got a booth. Very friendly, enthusiastic and genuinely interested staff. Delicious pizzas (have I mentioned this already?!) Great night - can definitely recommend!
Amarone Edinburgh - premium New Town site - probably a converted bank. Excellent service - choice from reasonable pizza to more expensive dishes. Attentive, competent staff - will return
Amarone Edinburgh. Service was very good for a busy Saturday evening and staff pleasant. Starters of bread & olives would benefit from more interesting selection of bread but olives good. Main course was okay, pasta slightly over-cooked & sauce a bit salty. Dessert very nice. Would go again & try something different.
My girlfriend and I had gone on a weekend trip to Edinburgh and went out to Amarone, as I had been to the Glasgow restaurant several times and have yet to be disappointed. The Edinburgh branch is gorgeous, with its large open kitchen and immensely high ceilings. Although the place was jam packed the service was superb. My steak was cooked to perfection and the sauce was superb. My girlfriends pasta was full of flavour although just a tad too much for her. I will definitely visit a again.
As visitors to Edinburgh we used Toptable.com to choose a restaurant by referring to previous testimonials on this website. True to the previous reviews, we had a fabulous meal at Amarine.
The service was attentive yet not over the top. The menu had great variety and our food was delicious. I would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
This is the second time we have had lunch here was good then but better second time food fab again service great thanks
Amarone, Edinburgh. Smart, good service and food.Prices reasonable. Will go again.
Amarone restaurant in Edinburgh is in a great location, right on St Andrew's square. The service is very quick and the staff friendly. Their menu is also very extensive and the food tastes fresh. We would definitely go back.
Amorone was very good, interior lovely, service quick and menu had excellent choice
Great venue for a night out with friends with good food and friendly service
Food pretty good, if the pasta dish was a little salty for our tastes. Pizza dishes,Caprese and Cheesecake were all well above average. Service excellent and despite me making a mistake ordering wine (house red 3 large glasses, instead of white) they then served us both without any additional charges. Will certainly return as miles above a lot of the "tourist trap" Italian restaurants in central Edinburgh.
