We used to love this place before the pandemic. This was the first time we had the dinner at Ambrosia since 2020. The manus has changes and food have changed quite a bit. Korean pork chop is hard and dry without flavor. We used to love their flatbread, now it was terrible.

Never eat here. Japanesian Brussel Sprouts $15.00 worth $6.00 as a side dish. Fried Rice $ 18.00 small bowel. You can't a whole Chinese dinner for less at any restaurant. Ordered another appetizer was suppose to cost $11.00. COST $28.00. Added $10.00 to reopen Kitchen because happy hour was over. Why could't they just say happy hour is over. AGAIN NEVER GO TO AMBROSIA The place is dark. I could not see my check. Only had little candle. The Entry foyer is really dirty. The inside is dirty, but cannot see how bad it is because it is dark. There where only (6) people in there plus us. You do not need a reservation.

This was our first visit to Ambrosia and we had high expectations. The place is very dimly lit, which is kind a cool, except that I had to break out a flashlight to read the menu. The food was mediocre. Nothing too bad, just not great. Prices were reasonable and staff was very nice and accomodating.

We love Ambrosia! The drinks are imaginative and fun, and you can always count on the staff to offer helpful thoughts on which wine to pair with which meal. And the meals! Tasty, good-sized, and reasonably priced. This is a neighborhood gem.

the food was good- beautifully presented but the restaurant was in a bit of disrepair-the cushions on the seating areas were coming apart and the whole place needed a paint job the front patio entrance looked like a storage area- old outdoor furniture etc our waitress was very nice , personable and knew her menu she said they had been opened 6 years--hmmmm- dont think it has been updated since it opened

I went here for the first time with a small group of friends for Houston Restaurant Week. The menu was Asian-inspired but they really missed the mark on a lot of things. For example, their papaya salad consisted primarily of lettuce and was bland. The Szechuan ribeye and dessert were the few good dishes but they didn’t make up for the experience we had. I also mentioned that the salmon had a spoiled taste but they blamed it on the tamarind...

It was our first time eating at Ambrosia. Our group ordered different items on the menu for HRW and, frankly, we were not impressed. The papaya and ginger salads were okay, not much flavor to them. Same with the samosas. The calamari was flavorful. The fish in the ceviche tasted … fishy. I’ve had better ceviche at wholefoods. The brussel sprouts were the best thing on the menu. It was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The salmon was still raw in the middle and tasted like it was a week old. The ribeye was delicious. It was also flavorful. The desserts were decent. Again, I’ve had better at other restaurants. Overall, I’d give my experience a 4/10.

Very loud in the restaurant. Hard to hear. Some sound absorbing panels would really help. Service was really slow, but may have just been an off night as only 2 servers were trying to cover the whole restaurant. Food was pretty good, drinks were great.

So, the gallery pictures of the food is what sold me on this place, the food looked fabulous. They had scallops, steak, fish, wings...all sorts! Unfortunately, it fell very short of what was expected. There is no self parking option, it's valet or street parking. The outside seating area was quite disheveled, the fountain had propane tanks in it, and other junk. The seating was old and cushions were flat. The entrance door is really nice and rustic, but not super obvious on how to open it...just grab anything and pull, ha! Small dining area, maybe 20 tables. This has the appearance of a nice, quiet, romantic dinner. It was not. It gets very loud, very quickly. At one point, we couldn't hear eachother from across the table. Seating again, is basic, and the booth style seats are old and some spots held together with tape. If you're wearing shorts, or a skirt, the back of your legs will feel it. The staff is very nice, only two people taking orders, but they kept the water topped up, answered questions, made recommendations etc. Food comes out quickly, and the table is cleared just as quick. Now, the food...disappointing. The menu, images you see online and from diners, is very different. Plating and portions seem inconsistent, it seems there is now standards in the kitchen for this. The salmon starter was not worth the price, you get so little for what you pay. The wings were dry, and the dry rubbed version was tasteless. Szechuan steak..belongs in a cheddars. The quality of the meat was dire, and the sauce seemed like a basic BBQ sauce with some added spices. The crab fried rice, was very tasty, and the only thing that was worth the cost. Drinks though...very refreshing and tasty. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place, nor would I return. It needs some leadership in the kitchen to take itself as seriously as it thinks it is.

I'll definitely try them again, most of the food we got was outstanding. Only gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the samosas were bland and tasteless, no worth the money (or the calories). At times the room got quite loud, as sound tends to echo around in there. But overall it was a good experience and I look forward to trying them again.

Around 7 it is less crowded than later. Service was friendly. Food is delicious I tried the masala lamb lollipops, salmon crudo, pork wasabi dumplings, Brussels sprouts and Thai chicken flatbread. Drinks were good. Definitely a nice place to eat with good people.

Arrival: We had 7:30 PM reservations for Saturday night. Memorial Day weekend. Drive up and we are the only ppl here. I was third to arrive. One friend texted me and wrote, “it looks closed.” Hostess Greeting: Friendly. Prompt. She gave all she had. Ambiance: IDK when the website pics were taken, BUT when I tell you it is NOT an accurate representation of what we saw. If you’re expecting what you see on the website I terms of look, invite, appeal- you will be let down. Even the candles in the main dining area were battery operated. Food: The website describes this as a tapas style, it was- point there for accurate descriptive word. HOWEVER, and this a BIG HOWEVER, the best thing I tried was the Brussel sprouts. Paid $50 & sadly didn’t eat anything. Naan bread was actually pita bread or Matzah bread. Samosas- were heavy on curry and short on flavor. Final Thoughts: We stayed bc the wait staff were friendly & we weren’t sure we could secure another table elsewhere post pandemic & on a holiday weekend. After that tab we went and had pizza slices down the street.

Service and food at Ambrosia was excellent and very enjoyable. We like the fact that they wasn't crowded and was practicing social distancing. Ambrosia really is a hidden gem in the sea of restaurants in Houston.
