Ametsa’s approach is rooted in the traditions of ‘New Basque Cuisine’, pairing the earthy flavours and techniques of Spain’s Basque region with modern, surprising twists featuring locally-sourced and organic produce from land and sea.

Under the direction of Executive Chef Sergio Sanz Blanco, Ametsa was awarded its first Michelin star in September 2013.

The restaurant’s interior was designed by London-based Ab Rogers Design, who took inspiration from the raw aesthetic of the original Arzak restaurant in San Sebastian, Spain, which holds three Michelin-stars.

The focal point of Ametsa is a wave-like ceiling, created from 7,000 glass receptacles filled with spices. Other highlights include an oak floor laid at a 30-degree angle and lacquered walls that create a calm, light-filled interior.

Ametsa also has a Private Dining Room that can be reserved separately for dinner, meetings or drinks reception.

Disappointed with the food - expected more from a Michelin starred restaurant.

Inventively presented, delicious Spanish food. Had the five course set tasting menu including fish cakes , morcilla, cod, meltingly soft pork cheek with squid ink sauce and wonderful chocolate dessert.
Dining room is quite small and spartan, but service is warm and friendly. Overall an excellent experience.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable. They go all out to cater to our needs. We even had our set lunch dessert changed as we ate there before and they wanted to give us something different. The food was good and the staffs are excellent!

From first taste to last, Ametza impressed with a range of dishes that were very reminiscent of Arzak itself.

The staff were friendly, the wine was well matched to the food, and the 2 hour lunch passed incredibly quickly as we ate our way through some very nice courses ... stand out for me being the scallops, it’s been a long time since I’ve had scallops quite so tasty.

Would happily return in a heartbeat.

Great lunch tasting menu - lots of really innovative and tasty dishes to try. We have also eaten in Arzak this year and the menu here definitely gives you the chance to try their excellent take on Basque food in the UK.

Modern, clean decor with a relaxed vibe. Superb ingredients beautifully cooked and presented. Wine list could be improved by the addition of some less expensive bottles. The Opentable offer represented great value for money.

Second time round just as good as the first. Tried the tasting menu this time and every course was fantastic. Truly enjoyable experience.

The food is interesting but the service is simply not good enough. Water glasses left empty, wine glasses not filled, drinks orders not brought.
I would expect better service in a chain restaurant never mind a Michelin starred establishment. It didn’t ruin the evening but it certainly took the shine off the evening.

The food was outstanding - creative mix of flavours that worked very well and tasted great. Service began a bit off - I was seated and unattended to for quite some time while the server just continued conversing with another staff. When I called their attention to it, the service improved. It’s a restaurant I would keep going back to just because I’m keen to see what else they’re cooking up next.

My boyfriend and I were quite disappointed by the whole experience. The restaurant is in a hotel in a very nice area of London, Belgravia, however, the dining room is very minimalistic with no ambience at all. The food was not bad, but not worth the money you are paying for a full tasting menu with wine. The main dishes we had, were not balanced, with lots of sweet elements.

This is a restaurant that works with Arzak, the world reknown restaurant in Sen Sebastian. I went with a friend and had high hopes for the dishes. The service and friendliness of the staff is impeccable, it's professional and caring. However, the food does not live up to Arzak standards, and the wine list is over priced. We were very well taken care of so for a business account it's superb! Food was good, no doubt.

Didn't think the food deserved the accolade of Michelin star. It looked pretty but have had far tastier food elsewhere. Interesting wine list and enjoyed that immensely. Wouldn't go back though.

Very unusual dishes that made for an interesting experience rather than a good meal. Staff were very courteous. The place is rather self-aware of it's pedigree and Michelin-star background. More form over substance.

Riding on the tails of one of the very best restaurants, Arzak, creates expectations which were not met. By London standards it was in the upper quartile, but at the prices charged the competition is ahead. Competent, no doubt, but we expected 'great'.
Btw., having to wait 1 hour for starters was stretching it...

From arrival to Ametza we knew we were in for a treat. The service was impeccable, guiding us through the menu without being too pushy, the food was to very high standard. We decided to go for the taster menu with the matching drinks and it was a great success accommodating for ingredients you couldn't eat or didn't like. At the end of the meal they greeted us with a little extra desert to celebrate our anniversary which we thought it was a very nice touch.

Overall, Ametsa balances Basque cuisine with modern twists beautifully, will come again!
