I'm only saying I would recommend this restaurant because I'm hoping it improves by the next time we return. It was a disappointment to learn, while we were waiting to order breakfast, on a sparse Sunday morning well before the brunch hour, that the chef was new and, apparently, had no idea how to coordinate order to finished plate.
Either it's a chronic problem or there was an issue that night they were seriously understaffed the server tried hard but she was covering the entire dining area. There was only one bartender on duty and response time for drink orders was very slow. Wait for food was longer than should be for fairly simple order. On the plus side they have a creative drink menu.
Visited for restaurant week and took sister in law out for birthday lunch. Service was great and food was very tasty. Would definitely go again.
The sever was warm and welcoming. She was managing a large area all on her own and doing a great job.
The truffle fries were amazing.
We got the steak frites and pan seared salmon both were okay nothing grand. I think it's a little over priced.
The food here was amazing. The only problem is you had to wait a half an hour for a waiter to show up. But will do again.
Worst service I have ever had in my entire life and I don’t say that lightly. Seated at 7:30, still no food at 9:30. Manager took 30 mins to come speak to us about it. We wound up leaving with no food and an offer of a drink to compensate.
It is very, very rare for me to leave a negative restaurant review. Amuse creates the exception. My wife and I went on a Friday night with a reservation. Very pleasant server greeted us and seated us immediately. But it all was downhill from there. We asked for tap water and then said we’d place a drink order. 20 minutes later she came back to take the drink order; we still didn’t have our water yet. The drinks took another 20 minutes with water being poured when we could flag down someone else on staff. Our server took our order when she delivered our drinks. We ordered a salad to share and two entrees. The salad came 20-30 minutes after we ordered it (all cold ingredients- no cooking involved). And the dinners arrived a full hour after we ordered. The place was only 50% - 60% full at any time so the kitchen should not have been too backed up. Although our server seemed to have an extraordinary number of tables to serve. By the time the dinners came we’d been there 1 hour and 40 minutes, had a half a salad each, and one drink. Since we were hungry we ate it. My wife ordered salmon which was clearly over cooked. And I ordered the stuffed pork loin. It was dry and also over cooked. I always though stuffing meat kept it moist. Not at Amore.
Server was pleasant, so one star.
Service was really slow (we suspect a staffing issue, not on the server).
Water was only poured with multiple requests.
Drinks were hard to come by.
And the food was poorly prepared. So no stars on the other four items.
Would not return. Would not recommend.
food took forever. luckily we were not in a rush. but waiting for 1 hour before appetizer to arrive is unacceptable.
"Quick lunch" sign outside lied -- it took 45 minutes to get food and there was just one table seated when we arrived.
I was looking for a place where we could have breakfast before visiting Christmas village and amuse came up in the search, however, all it really seemed to be was a place for the hotel folks to have a continental breakfast. It took a long time to find a server, and one who spoke English.
We went here 2 years ago, and the experience was AMAZING. We had a window seat with a beautiful view of City hall, complementary bread and tuna tar tar, and absolutely delicious entrees. We came back tonight hoping for a similar experience and to celebrate a special occasion. Though the service was excellent (very attentive waitress and accommodating manager), the food took a very, VERY long time to get to us (despite being one of 3 tables actually dining in be restaurant). When the food finally got to us, the steak was cold and not great. The ambiance was also very underwhelming. They’ve now moved the dining area to the back of the lobby, so there are no windows with nice views anymore. The room with the beautiful, romantic ambiance (what’s pictured in the photographs on OpenTable and on many websites) is now only used only for business events and meetings. To be honest, the food was not worth what we paid. That reason, plus what I listed above, will most likely keep us from returning. It’s a shame, because I honestly thought this would be our “place” after the amazing first experience. The waitress and the manager were both amazingly nice, attentive, and super accommodating. None of my complaints above were their fault, and they were the only super positive thing about the experience quite frankly.
Restaurant Was completely disorganized and under staffed
There were only a few patrons and we waited over 1 hour for our meal
When we complained to front desk we were told hotel management was not available to hear our concerns
It was the worst experience i have ever had in a restaurant i
The dinner was good, but the glass of wine price was ridiculous, it was almost the same price as the meal.
Food was terrible, I didn’t realize it was a bar. I feel like this was False advertising. It doesn’t look like it does in the picture.
It was Restaurant Week, a good time to scout new dining options.
The choices were scrimpy and as described by the waitress
“Not the same” as on regular menu.
So, what is the point of Restaurant Week ?
The salad was tiny and served in a too small bowl so the dressing,
in a tiny plastic container, could not be properly mixed .
The steak au frites was “ a different cut than what is ordinarily
served.”...not very good.
There were two dessert choices.
It was a disappointing dinning experience.
It is not very French as suggested ...in a French hotel.
It is not chic as advertised . The tables are bare,
The experience was disappointing.
It's not a place you go to during lunch cause the service is a little slow.
We visited during restaurant week. While menu was limited I did expect a decent meal for $35. Drinks were extra and disappointing as well. I’ve had better food out of my microwave.
I made a reservation, however we had to wait 40 min. After we were seated we had to wait additional 20 min to be served. The waiter was dressed up in extremely dirty white shirt and kept on missing the orders... menu was printed in a way that was unreadable. All together an unpleasant experience that made me look really bad In front of my business partners..
Would not recommend for a work meeting. Slow service.very disappointing omelette
If you want a quiet place to meet and speak or you are just staying in the hotel it is fine. Breakfast (both food and service) was adequate but not good.
Our waitress spill bar b cue sauce in my friends purse and should could have cared less... and it took an hour to get our food but it was only 6 of us and 2 other people... the food was great when we go it but our waitress needs some extra training
The lobster bisque was good. The ratatouille was terribly bland. It had no flavor at all. The crime brûlée was all runny and oily. Terrible choice. Stay away.
Good dinner with fish inspired dishes. Creamy lobster bisque with lobster in it. Halibut served in tomato soup.
Lighting too dim and seats too uncomfortable unfortunately.
Sat at the bar with a delightful bartender. Had mushroom pate, swordfish steak with roasted vegetables and finished with blood orange crime brûlée- wonderful!
The food was not anywhere close to what you would expect for the cost and at a 4-star hotel. The menu was very small and several items were not available, for the first seating on a Friday night. The steak was not worth the cost. Breakfast was just ok quality-wise but they messed up our order, twice. I ordered an omelet with ham, tomato and cheese....not complicated. I did not have time to wait for them to make a 3rd attempt so I ate the incorrectly made food. The meal was not comp'ed, as you would expect, but we were given a fruit platter as compensation, which we did not want not had time to eat, by that point as we had another commitment and were running late due to the wait for the 2nd try on our order. Will not be going here again and will not recommend to ANYONE, ever.
Disappointing.the restaurant used to be At the front of the very pretty building with light and windows facing the Clocktower of City Hall. It has now been moved to the dark back and we were the only people there. The food was not good. We were the only people in the place and it was the flower show so you know things are bad
Service was very good. Our meal was delicious. Gin martini was not as expected.
Everything was tasty ! We recommend the mussels 😊
Pommes frites perfectly fried , fresh, crisp. Mussels had nice flavor, but over cooked, some dried out. My husband loved the burger.
There was no one to greet us upon arrival. After a couple of minutes assuming we were in the hotel lobby someone came over. All of our courses were room temperature. We received salad without dressing and the bread felt like it came out of a refrigerator. We paid our tab, tipped, and left. We will not return and were extremely displeased.
The meal was very good. Ther place was not what I expected but it was very nice and waitress assisted in our selection of both food and cocktails. And a great selection it was.
I was excited to sample the Restaurant Week menu. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. The server did not bring bread to the table, even though I could see other tables enjoying their own dinner rolls. The French onion soup had almost no onion, and absolutely no sherry; clearly not house-made. The flat-iron steak with pommes-frites and cipollini onions was overcooked, and the onions were not even on the plate (I had to request them from the server, who brought out three tiny onions in a steel ramekin). The supposed demi-glace that was served with the steak was flavorless; it may as well have not been on the plate. The cheesecake was similarly bland, with none of the light richness that is promised by "cheesecake". Overall, an overwhelmingly disappointing experience. The sole positive note of the evening was the excellent service and personability of the hostess.
We were really on the fence about writing a review for this restaurant, until we got home and realized we were charged twice for our overly priced dinner after they specifically told us that would not happen. My husband and I both work in the service industry, and wanted to treat my father to dinner on his birthday during restaurant week.
Online their listed menu was different for restaurant week than what we were presented when we walked in. Two of the items that we originally came in for were no longer available for the promotion. We took a look at the regular dinner menu, but quickly found out almost every item that we would have ordered they were out of, about 4 items in total. On a limited menu with maybe 15-20 items, that is significant.
As far as the actual food goes, we were all left very underwhelmed, nothing was “bad” but for the price we were expecting much more. One of the items we did send back but it was still left on the check.
In addition, we called the restaurant multiple times beforehand to warn them that we would have an extra guest, but no one answered the phone. We called as soon as we noticed the double billing, and faced the same issue.
The service itself was slow, our server was nice, but seemed inexperienced.
We mentioned specifically that we were there for a birthday and didn’t even get a candle in his dessert.
When paying for the check, the server ran our credit card but did not provide us with an itemized receipt and had to ask for it. Come to find out we were charged for an item that we didn’t receive, and that they didn’t even have in house.
My husband and I have 30 years in the service industry combined, and we understand things happen. Neither one of us are very picky, and we were willing to give the benefit of the doubt even up until the point we signed the bill, but coming home to find out we charged twice and couldn’t even call to talk to someone was the cherry on top of a very disappointing evening.
While the food was great, it was hard to even figure where the restaurant was. Seating was delayed and the wait for food was a bit too long for how many people were actually dining
My boyfriend and I wanted to try out as many different cuisines as possible during Restaurant Week, and Amuse was our French pick for the 11th night.
After some confusion, we were seated just a bit after our 8:15 reservation. Rosie was our server and she's absolutely lovely! I ordered the Caesar salad, steak frites, and cheesecake. My boyfriend chose the salad, salmon, and cheesecake. We also both ordered the special peach cocktail on offer for Restaurant Week.
The cocktails were just okay- we ordered the same drink, but one came in a very large glass, and the other came in a highball glass...? The salad was very good, with really fresh greens. The salmon was tasty, but my steak was awful. It was cold, while the fries were hot. They re-heated the steak and it came back out rubbery and gross. I ate one bite, and just ate the fries. The cheesecake is fabulous and very rich without being overly sweet.
We will never come back, but it was an interesting experience!
Birthday everything was wonderful 👍🏻♥️😀 Took very good care of us. always amazing
Our waiter was very attentive and the food was delicious! Our group of women like to try new restaurants and aMuse did not disappoint! Thank you for a wonderful lunch.
