Angels with Bagpipes
Mixing an atmospheric Old Town setting with chic, contemporary looks, the restaurant reflects many of the city’s most defining features. With a humble facade nestled in the beautiful 17th century building, rich tones of bronze and marble cascade throughout the two tiers of Angels with Bagpipes.
Angels with Bagpipe’s kitchen has gained a glowing reputation in a city abundant with restaurants of the highest standards. Sourcing the best produce and ingredients, allowing the quality to shine through their elegant dishes. By blending innovative and traditional techniques, their menu is fresh and exciting throughout all seasons
Great food, great service overall a fantastic night. Would highly recommend.
To be honest, the restaurant was nothing special. The photographs available are clearly taken during a time when decoration is about. Considering what we expected, it all seemed rather bare and cramped.
Food was good and the staff were quick to serve however. I just wouldn't suggest the venue above most others I've been to in Edinburgh lately especially for the price.
Food cost is comparable to the Castle Terrace restaurant and that place really does feel like luxury even before you try their wonderful food. This is all for a similar cost to AwB.
Pre-theatre late lunch/early dinner. Great food and excellent service.
Excellent food fantastic attentive staff. Had the tasting menus which even though it was on the expensive side it was still a fantastic dining experience. This was our second visit to this restaurant and there will definitely a third.
We found the wine a little expensive (£34) but admittedly we all enjoyed it very much.
The steak we ordered was succulent and perfectly cooked in fact, we all enjoyed our food, also, the
staff and service were knowledgeable and attentive.
Very disappointing with meagre portions of food and unduly expensive.
A really nice restaurant in the city centre with an imaginative menu and really good service. The only disappointment is that wine is not available by the 125ml glass which is very unusual nowadays especially at lunchtime.
Very nice food and good service
Excellent meal in very pleasant surroundings. I would recommend the Neeps and Tatties followed by the Venison.
Nice menu, with quality products cooked fresh. First time we have eaten there and it will be interesting to see where the chef takes the menu.
The menu was good and the food was prepared well and tasted great
Delicious food well presented. Attentive waiting staff but not over intrusive. Relaxed atmosphere. Interesting wines. Definitely a place for a special occasion without over formality.
Absolutely amazing, best steak we have ever had! The steak tartare for starter was just superb too.
Lovely lunch with great service before our visit to the theatre.
Outstanding beef fillet, very well assorted menu, excellent quality. Service is highly professional and very friendly. Top!
Staff very attentive, food excellent as always although menu choice was limited especially if you don’t like fish. Fortunately we do so no problem. I chose brill for my main and my husband chose chicken. Both meals were delicious as were the sides of roasted root veg and mashed potatoes. Desserts were yummy and not overly sweet. I had a rhubarb dessert and my husband had a blood orange creation and we finished off our meal with a lovely winter warmer cocktail. This place never disappoints
Cost for 3 was £190ish and at main meal the potatoes were very very samll portion indead. The desert sounded good but the on ei had was a slive of an apple with 4 small toffee sweet cubes and small ice cream. After the meal the 3 off us felt we should go for more to eat outside and we are not huge eaters. think their should be a soup and felt oveall the choice of starter and main were liitle. Haggis and neeps , never seen any neeps just couldnt see it. Service was great nice staff
We found the entire experience exceotionally hood. From service to food to ambience. If I had one negative it was the location of the toilets, however, the toilet was clean and confortable. Overall would recommend and visit again. Xx
Very enjoyable dinner, although portions are quite small. Service was good, friendly staff.
Incredible food and great service. Great value for lunch and as good as the lunch available at the Michelin venues in town
Weekday lunchtime found the restaurant very quiet - in fact we were the only diners for about half an hour before another table of 2 arrived. Service excellent. Food very good - small portions perfectly cooked and beautifully presented - just right for lunchtime.
Third time I've been and it gets better and better.
Lovely food, excellent service, very attentive but not intrusive. Food quite overpriced but nice for a special occasion.
Just the right level if friendly service, innovative, seasonal food. Accommodated a change in booking a couple of days before. Wheelchair friendly.
Lovely meal and atmosphere, great location and staff, will be back!
Fantastic restaurant, great food, great ambience. Waiting staff were attentive and professional also
So often restaurants on the tourist trail are not good. This one was great! The Auld Alliance is alive here with a blend of Scottish and French food and service. The prix fix menu was great value and there was no hint of a lower standard. Fabulous food and great service. A must visit!
Really great service and food. Reasonably priced and great quality. Lovely staff. Basically everything you want.
Such a lovely restaurant, perfect for a romantic dinner. The staff here are brilliant and incredibly attentive.
Had lovely lunch here with my son. Food was lovely & well presented. Fantastic service, lovely ambient setting.
Service and ambience good. Would have preferred a better choice on the lunch menu
Overall a good meal although portions of veg and potato were small, we left feeling hungry.
My daughter and myself came through from Glasgow for the theatre and we went to Angels with Bagpipes for dinner beforehand. We were delighted with the quality of the food and the general ambience of the restaurant and even the lunchtime menu had plenty of variety and at a good price.
I would thoroughly reccomendbthis restaurant.
Another perfect evening in the company of Angels. The food is exquisite and packed full of flavour. The staff are brilliant. There’s a reason we visit so often - it’s heaven.
Good restaurant - well located. Lovely food. Good staff.
Excellent quality food and service. We had the burns night pairing menu which was spot on and great value for money
Visited this restaurant on several occasions and the food, and service is outstanding. It is a bit pricey but
lovely for a special occasion. I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to family and friends.
Very friendly & attentive staff. Answered all questions we asked. The potatoes arrive luke warm but we didn't complain
really good food and good value for money! the tasting menu was inventive and the wine pairing well worth the extra.
Overall a fantastic dinner experience, the only fault, is the person behind me seat kept on bumping me by him moving back which was not great, you could leave more space between tables, food and wine was fantastic..
Great service and food. The perfect location too. Will be back
