Angels with Bagpipes
Mixing an atmospheric Old Town setting with chic, contemporary looks, the restaurant reflects many of the city’s most defining features. With a humble facade nestled in the beautiful 17th century building, rich tones of bronze and marble cascade throughout the two tiers of Angels with Bagpipes.
Angels with Bagpipe’s kitchen has gained a glowing reputation in a city abundant with restaurants of the highest standards. Sourcing the best produce and ingredients, allowing the quality to shine through their elegant dishes. By blending innovative and traditional techniques, their menu is fresh and exciting throughout all seasons
We have been going to Angels for years. Anytime we are in Edinburgh we would book a table at Angels. This last visit...we were kind of disappointed. Maybe we had been to Angels too many times. We found the pre-theatre menu cost was going up and up and then the main course lacking a potato - which were available to buy as ‘sides’ . What put us off was the ‘are you here as part of the Groupon deal?’ If you have to go down the Groupon route there is something going wrong! We’ve decided to try somewhere different next time. We’ve enjoyed it - good food and service - it’s just lost its mojo for us.
The food, service and ambience of Angels with Bagpipes was outstanding on all levels, the waitress had handled herself very patiently with some unruly guests and ensured we enjoyed our evening. The food and wine pairing was expertly executed, and I would absolutely come back in the future.
solo diner— attentive, warm service with incredibly tasty Scottish food.
Excellent service, we had the tasting menu and it was fantastic. The choice of wine for each meal was superb. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was excellent although portions are a little on the small side, especially the main course. Desserts were absolutely fantastic. Have eaten there twice now and would definitely recommend.
Lovely food, excellent service will definitely recommend.
Delicious food and good range offered. Generous portions for a lunchtime menu and good value too. We would definitely go back.
Appeared small from the outside but pleasantly suprised with lovely interior.
Atmosphere relaxed and informal .
Food was excellent . Overall a little hidden jem.
Had a really lovely meal here with my daughter. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and they had some nice wine available by the glass too, which is always a plus. Staff are very friendly. I would definitely recommend to others and would return when I next go to Edinburgh.
Have been several times when visiting Ediburgh. I will be returning again in May for my friends 60th. We have never been disappointed. The food is absolutely delicious, the resteraunt very cosy and the staff very friendly. It feels like a real treat and I keep returning, we enjoy the whole experience. Thank you.
Great food with a great atmosphere! All staff were outstanding!
Good atmosphere and attentive waiting staff. The food was delicious - everyone ate every morsel of their starters, mains and desserts. The desserts were delicious!
Superb food, attentive friendly staff and reasonably priced - will definitely return
First time to Eginburgh and found this little gem of a restaurant. Stunningly beautiful, food outstanding and the service on top form. Will visit again if I’m ever in Edinburgh
This is really a very good restaurant and will please the inner foodie in us all. The food is well presented and of good quality. The tasting menu was well balanced and not over facing - the matched wines were indeed complementary . Well done .
Very nice restaurant, ideally situated, very helpful staff and delicious food. We had a blast !
The ambience was nice. The food was very tasty. The staff was really friendly but the service quality could be a bit better.
I loved Angels with Bagpipes for lunch last year: great ambiance and great food. This year when we were in Edinburgh we booked for dinner. The ambiance was still great, the service still great but the food certainly let it down both in terms of portion size and quality. Wan't expecting that!
I had a nice evening at your place. The food was delicious and the waitresses were kind, friendly and helpful. It's just that the dining room at the back of the restaurant was not as comfortable and as big as I had expected. The ceiling is low which creates a feeling of uneasiness. It would feel better if we dined in a high ceiling spacious room with less tables. Thank you.
I had the best steak I have ever eaten tonight, cooked medium rare it was spectacular, myself and my partner agreed (that had same main course).
Only downside was the wine, it is really overpriced. Overall, an excellent t experience.
Polite and attentive service. The food was very well cooked and presented . Scottish classics with a modern twist
Excellent food, wine, ambiance and service. We had a very pleasant dinner. Prices are about at London levels...
Had the most amazing meal here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food was 12/10, service was great, wine was lovely and prices were reasonable.
Will definitely be back.
Great food, amazing service ....overall a great dining experience
As always a fantastic meal here. Food wine and service all superb. Eat in fine dining establishments most weeks and this restaurant one of the best. Superb staff
Delicious food, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, i would defintely go again if visiting Edinburgh!
First night in Edinburgh and Angels was the perfect introduction. Great food, nice folks !
We have a nice meal for four at Angels With Bagpipes. Even though it was a busy Friday evening our table was quite quiet (downstairs). The waitress was excellent. Great food with a Scottish flavour, my picanha steak was terrific and good value. Good winelist including some decent bottles around £30. Recommended to locals and visitors alike.
Lovely food. Lovely setting. Perfect portion sizes. Will be back for sure!
Angels with Bagpipes, Edinburgh. My husband and I recently visited Angels with Bagpipes for Sunday lunch. The restaurant has both an ground floor and basement seating area.
We were fortunate enough to get a lovely table at the back of the ground floor where there is a view into a raised 'courtyard' area (just a small point - I found it slightly drafty in this area)
The service from the outset was very good. Our coats and overnight bags efficiently dispatched before being seated.
There was a choice of either a 2 or 3 course set menu or options from the a la carte menu. The team where flexible and allowed us to order a mix from both. All ingredients sourced from local producers.
My husband had the yellow split pea, smoked ham a soup which was absolutely delicious and I had the haggis and neeps as starters. Again very lovely. I chose the Picanha Steak for my main. I'd not eaten this cut of Brazilian steak before. I have to say that I wouldn't choose it again. Not because it wasn't cooked well - it was, but it was very fibrous and therefore tough to cut and eat. This is no reflection on the chef, purely that I wouldn't choose that cut again. My husband had the fillet steak and it was melt in the mouth.
The food was very well presented and delicious. A good wine and drinks list where available.
All together a very nice lunch and we would't hesitate in returning.
Exceptional food - and felt cosy considering the high profile location.
Didn’t realise that the voucher I had wasn’t applicable after 5pm on a Friday but the staff honoured it and took the value off our final bill.
Food was VERY tasty but didn’t realise the portions would be so small and didn’t feel satisfied when we left.
The menu was difficult to read and didn’t describe the dishes every well. We asked a member of staff to explain the desserts and she didn’t do a very good job.
Overall a lovely meal but far too expensive to rush back.
Great meal! Tastes were so well combined for the goat cheese starter and the venison main dish was so tender and perfectly cooked (med-rare). Service was attentive and friendly. It was a wonderful experience for my wife and I in Edinburgh.
Everything was lovely. Perfect food served quickly and also they offered us a pair of glasses of champagne. We will repeat for sure.
Poor, restricted menu selection and small portions; a taster menu size.
This restaurant was outstanding from the food to service and even decor. We were made to feel very special on our anniversary with complimentary Prosecco on arrival. We were seated in a private area which was so tastefully decorated with mood lights and high quality furnishings. This really added to the whole experience. Myself and my partner enjoyed a full fillet steak accompanied with delicious cocktails which we agreed that everything servers was faultless, the meal was exquisite and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Angles with Bagpipes.
amazing delicious food, great service and attention to detail, cant wait to go back!
Birthday meal. Good choice of food on menu. Nicely presented and delicious. Service was lovely.
Was a very nice meal. My gurnard was tasty but slightly over cooked
We would return
Location accessible. Service and ambience average. Food excellent.
