By blending innovative and traditional techniques, their menu is fresh and exciting throughout all seasons
Excellent, friendly and helpful service.
Interesting menu with a few surprises.
Food looks beautiful and tastes delicious.
Venison was moist and tender with great taste.
Sorrel sorbet was a wonderful surprise.
Delicious food and great friendly service. My gluten free needs were very well catered for and the whole evening was a real treat. I recommend the ribeye steak!
Wonderful lunch at this lovely place, so glad we found it’s discreet entrance in the royal mile. We had 3 course set lunch which was amazing quality for the price. Choice of three for each course but they do a la carte too if desired. I chose smoked salmon pate with crisp breads which was very light and flavoursome. Husband had beef carpaccio which was very tender and had super dabs of sauce and herbs. His chicken main was one of the best he’s ever had. My risotto with goats cheese and beetroot sounded odd but worked superbly, the beetroot cutting through the richness of the cheese. Usually never have pudding but we both did as the standard had been so high. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable but not overbearing. It was very quiet but ambiance was very restful with nice view over the courtyard. Only slight issue was I felt very cold but that may partly have been watching the squally weather outside influencing me. We ate at Kitchin the next day and although it was all v smart I much preferred the food at Angels. Recommend to anyone looking for clever unfussy cooking presented without pretension.
The food was wonderful, we had lamb loin and venison which were both cooked to perfection.
Atmosphere was just right so you could speak without feeling conscious other people could hear you but you didn't have to shout.
Service was excellent and the staff were attentive. I requested the dessert from the special wine flight menu instead of the a la carte menu which did not cause a problem as would do in some restaurants!
Excellent restaurant with attentive staff. Food was of good quality, lovely quiet ambiance.
Starter was far too salty, the rest of the food was outstanding, it was just a pity the side dishes came after the main which was pretty impractical..
Amazing food and great service.
After hearing so many things about this restaurant I decided to try it with my partner , the lady who took us to our table wasn’t looking very happy because we arrived earlier than our booking . We ordered two cocktails the coconut one was ok the one with the tequila and black currant I would recommend you take it off the menu as the price makes it a total rip off. My partners risotto was very salty same with the mash potato that we were not able to finish. The sprouts were not tasting any of the cream just boring flavor. The fish and chips was nice. Service from the two waitresses was good. Wouldn’t return .
Service was okay but not especially good considering it wants to be a fine dining experience. the food was frankly forgettable. My wife had the Ribeye, over cooked from medium rare and under seasoned. I had the sole witch was bland. We have eaten at over 30 Michelen starred restaurants but we are not food snobs and don't mind a good pub, grill or basket of wings so it's all about the food and the quality of it regardless of any ratings but this was really just a forgettable meal. Too bad because it was Valentines day.
Great lunch first class food and wine ! Th quality of the ingredients and overall ambience was great.
We had the most fantastic meal and service was impeccable.
We would highly recommend this restaurant it’s faultless
We will be returning x
Very chilled atmosphere but not too quiet, food was very nice and portions didn’t leave you hungry. Staff were very friendly and professional.
Fantastic meal and service for a Valentine’s Day treat with my wife. Lovely food, nice ambience. Would return and recommend.
Delicious, friendly & great value. I’ll be back!
Incredible - Highly recommend. This was my second time at Angles with Bagpipes and I can't wait to be back in Edinburgh to visit again.
As expected. A special restaurant with a very good menu. In the old part of the city and would happily return.
Got this as a Christmas gift, staff were very attentive and pleasant. Food was excellent ,portions just right.
Always choose tasting menu with matching wine. Pairing never fails with exceptional service.
What a find. Great value set meal or A la carte. We all something different and it was all delicious . Waiting staff were lovely, no rush to get us to leave our table , even on a busy rugby weekend.
Would definitely recommend and we will go there again next time we are in Edinburgh.
First time at this resturant and was very much impressed.
We had the set Lunch menu £17 2 courses - excellent vaulue and quality.
Great choice of wine we had a bottle of a very good Primativo £35.
We were waited on by Ellen who was fantastic, very professional.
We will be back thats for sure.
Again we enjoy a lovely lunch with a group prior to rugby international at murrayfield, which we all enjoyed , service very good indeed, happily recommended to anyone.
Great wine recommendation too😊
Excellent and very creative food. The staff very knowledgeable and polite. Definitely recommend it.
The food and the staff were excellent. Prices are relatively high but I always believe that you get what you pay for.
Great service, atmosphere and food.
I would recommend to anyone
Angels with Bagpipes was recommended to me and I will certainly be recommending to anyone visiting Edinburgh.
The staff were friendly, polite and efficient.
The food was amazing! Good value for money.
Lovely food, friendly staff, helpful, but could not get their attention when we wanted the bill though.
Myself and my partner dined here on Saturday evening.
First time we have been here and would highly recommend, we both had 3 courses from the Al a Carte menu. Service was exceptional and the food and drink delicious.
I have eaten in many Michelin starred restaurants and the starter and the pudding from the taster menu were as good as anything I have had. Not to say the other courses weren’t also exceptional but those two were outstanding. Service was on point and unobtrusive.
All round very happy indeed. An excellent evening.
Lovely gem on the High street. High quality, great value. A personal fave of mine
We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. The staff are friendly , knowledgeable and welcoming.
The menu has a good variety of dishes, every one we have tasted has been delicious.
My steak was cooked to perfection, veg was delicious and well presented.
Food outstanding, waitress needs to go on a customer service course like yesterday.
We always enjoy eating here. The windows overlooking Warriston Close enhance an attractive venue. The food was very tasty, all members of staff were friendly and efficient and I I think you would have difficulty finding another restaurant nearby that had the same quality of food. The set menu is excellent value. We had champagne and a bottle of wine which obviously costs more but that's what we enjoy.
Angel's with Bagpipes is an oasis of calm in the hectic Royal Mile.
Very good food and friendly staff. My wife missed the crab cake, which is no longer on the menu, she had when we came here two years ago. Will come again when in Edinburgh.
Delicious food, friendly well trained staff, lovely ambience . Seasonal lunch menu is great value. Excellent.
The food, the ambience, the service were all amazing.
We had a fantastic dinner on New Year's Day. We nearly didn't book here because they only had a table from 9pm, but very glad we did! Everything we ordered was delicious, which says a lot since we all ordered different main courses and pudding. Highly recommended.
Great staff and good food , can’t fault at all
The food and drinks were absolutely fabulous! The only little negative was that the food came very quickly after each other.
The food was amazing!! I would highly recommend anyone who appreciates fine dining to go there. We will definitely be back
Given its location we were concerned that this restaurant might be too geared for tourists, but we were pleasantly surprised. Nice atmosphere and we all enjoyed the food - need to specifically mention the venison which was fab.
Located in the High Street (Royal Mile), the prices are slightly on the high side circa £60 per head with wine, but it was a great way to start the New Year celebrations, and we could actually talk to one another often not the case in many restaurants given the décor.
Staff friendly and helpful, albeit towards the end of the meal this got slower, but perhaps this was because it was nearing midnight and I am sure that they had been working hard all evening.
