I travel 200 nights a year and this was one of the best meals and experiences that I have had in a long time. Every course was beyond expectations and my wife and I ordered different items for each course! Great Food, Great Service, Great Atmosphere!!! I would highly recommend!
We visited here on a friend's recommendation - so pleased we did. We had the tasting menu with wines and just loved everything. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and attentive.
I’ve been to this restaurant quite a few times now and always had a great experience. Good service, friendly and knowledgeable. The food is lovely and the paired wines with the tasting menu is worth trying to experience foods you might not otherwise choose. Always book in advance for a Saturday night to make sure you get a decent time.
Such a unique name, right across the street from St. Giles, it has to be good. It was recommended by a friend and did not disappoint. The food was locally sourced as much as possible with a beautiful presentation. The server gave good recommendations. We would certainly go again.
Lovely food ambiance and friendly staff. A very nice place to eat
What a fantastic filet mignon with garlic butter. Amazing. My wife and I shared this. She had a sublime salad with olive oil and citrus, Our service was impeccable. You made our 26th anniversary very special.
Very nice food in a good spot, however not much to choose from.
We went for a birthday and we had a very friendly welcome. Service was great (except for one girl but our main waiter was top notch). And the food was delicious. The atmosphere is nice and calm, you should definitely go and check the restaurant out if you can.
The staff were able answer all the questions my dinner companions had about allergies and were most understanding and attentive. The food was, as always, excellent, the service smooth and unruffled and the staff polite and neatly turned out.
We had reservations at noon for lunch. However, the doors did not open until five or so after noon. Vape and cigarette smoke from outside drifted into the restaurant. I could smell it even though we were sitting in at the back. Food was excellent.
Lovely restaurant. Beautifully lay out . Need to remember to close the door in the corridor to the toilet not good view. Food lovely and good service thou need to improve your English had a little problem understanding some dishes. Good choice of wine. Lovely discovery it was the name that drew me to check you out thanks
Fabulous food service amazing staff and great value for money
Outstanding - fantastic value and consistently good.
The haggis and tatties starter is exceptional and I'd happily ask for a big bowl of that as a main !
The goats cheese panacotta ( yep you read that right ) is inspired, in fact every course irrespective of being on the lunch specials or A La Carte are all given the same level of presentation and quality.
It's obvious these chefs love what they do as everything on the plate even if it's just dressing is delicious and given the same level of care as the main parts of the dish - a rare occurrence in other places in my experience.
Now a favourite place and look forward to our next visit.
Our experience at Angels with Bagpipes complemented our most enjoyable morning spent exploring the Royal Mile. The service was excellent and each dish was a delicious work of art - well done!
This restaurant is located in a convenient spot right off the Royal Mile. The view from our table was to a nice courtyard and not the craziness of the street. Our service was just ok. Our waiter forgot our water order and then barely checked on us once the food was served. There were a few tasty morsels, but mostly, it is dependent on what you order and what your preferences are.
We celebrated our Anniversary. We were a glass of Prosecco which we enjoyed.
Excellent food, relaxed atmosphere with knowledgeable friendly staff.
Food was lovely and the service was brilliant. 5 stars.
Visited Saturday 1st June with 4 friends from USA who wanted to "try Scottish". Totally wonderful - food, staff, location, everything! Food was beyond what we expected (we are extremely fussy on quality with all food) and the staff couldn't do enough for us to make us and our friends feel welcome. Everybody shared everything so our friends could have a little of each and there was an endless supply of "little plates", all of which came with a smile and loads of tolerance for some excited tourists. We literally ate the whole menu and more! To satisfy 6 people, including many drinks and expensive wines and more than enough good malt whisky, just over £200 was a total steal considering we sat there having a great time for over 2.5 hours easting and drinking some seriously fine Scottish produce, cooked brilliantly!! We will make this our new haunt whenever we are in Edinburgh and we can't recommend this lovely restaurant highly enough!! Oh, and their deserts are to die for!! Fantastic place, cannot wait to go back!
Would highly recommend, great food, great service, great atmosphere. Price can be on the expensive side, but we'll worth it for a special occasion.
The food was creative and delicious. While I enjoyed my meal, I found the dining experience a bit peremptory ... alas, often the case when a woman dines alone.
The appetizer & drinks were fine but the ribeye was awful! Grossly overpriced beef.
Best dinner in years , I highly recommend , I was there for my husband s birthday and we had a fantastic time
Sorry for my english. A very nice place. Service really precise and quick but without anxiety. Traditional “tasting” in a modern approach, concrete nof “ smokky” not only estetic. Thanks for the very nice dinner.
Creative pairings and elegant setting. Extensive wine list. The perfect dinner to celebrate the end of our vacation!
Located in the busy area of the city, but the atmosphere of the restaurant itself is very calm and quiet. Food was very delicious, yet reasonably priced. Waiters and waitress are super friendly. Would visit again and recommend to others.
A really lovely lunch - beautiful table for two looking out to the sunlight. Exquisite food and attentive service.
Unusual drink preparations that were different and tasty. All food was a la carts which makes the evening quite expensive. We did not think the Hale was very tender - sort of rubber y and not much flavor.
Every dish was delicious and well presented. I can see the chef was paying lot of attention in creating and matching all the ingredients. He did a good job.
don't be put off by the exterior as it looks very small, once inside there are two dinning areas that are not over crowded. If you book an earlier table there is a 2 hour dining time. we had the tasting menu without wine and chose our own wine. The food was amazing each course was explained as it arrived. there was no rush to eat and you were offered a break between courses. The staff were very attentive and friendly. When visiting Edinburgh this restaurant is a must visit.
Thank you for a lovely evening
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Angels with Bagpipes in May. We selected the Tasting Menu with Wine Pairings and we were extremely pleased. All the food was superb and the wine pairing was perfect. Our server, "G" was very personable and well informed. We had reservations at 6:00 and the restaurant was not too busy yet, so we had undivided attention. The entire experience was fantastic! I would highly recommend Angels with Bagpipes, and would recommend their Tasting Menu with Wine Pairings. Everything was Perfect. Thank you.
Great service and great food!
Lovely atmosphere , late afternoon, midweek, ideal for a quiet meal. Lunch menu very good value. Very good food, unfortunately for me personally the chef used too much salt in the food.
Glass of Prosecco on arrival and birthday truffle to finish. Another amazing evening at this amazing restaurant. Thank you
I have been to Angels with bag pipes on several occasions when visiting Ediburgh and It has always been a lovely experience. The food is amazing and the staff always friendly and helpful. We will be back, thank you.
Overall we had a lovely dinner and a fantastic dining experience. From the minute you walk in off the street, the stylish decor and friendly staff are very welcoming.
The food was delicious on the whole; the vegetarian main course let the meal down, hence 4 stars and not 5.
We were recommended this restaurant while on a road trip in Scotland. Very happy with the recommendation as the food was excellent! We were brave enough to try their Haggis and it was very tasty. For main course we all ordered different types of meat dishes, and they all were cooked to perfection. We did not stay for dessert as our waitress was very unfriendly, almost hostile. She was so uninterested in us and did not offer any advice even when we asked things like "what do you recommend". Did not ask how other food was, if everything was to our liking etc.
This restaurant has great food, but service needs to upgraded.
Great place! Food 10/10 and service was also really good. Reasonably priced for fine dining, would be willing to pay more for the food we had as it was amazing. Will definitely be going here again when we return to Edinburgh!
Great food as always but found the new paired down explanation of the dishes confusing. Fabulous service will definitely return.
Fantastic restaurant in an excellent location. Fabulous menu with a set price lunch menu and an a la carte menu. Both menu's offer excellent choice and fantastic value for money. Staff are very attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend a visit and will definitely be back again.
