Angels with Bagpipes
Mixing an atmospheric Old Town setting with chic, contemporary looks, the restaurant reflects many of the city’s most defining features. With a humble facade nestled in the beautiful 17th century building, rich tones of bronze and marble cascade throughout the two tiers of Angels with Bagpipes.
Angels with Bagpipe’s kitchen has gained a glowing reputation in a city abundant with restaurants of the highest standards. Sourcing the best produce and ingredients, allowing the quality to shine through their elegant dishes. By blending innovative and traditional techniques, their menu is fresh and exciting throughout all seasons
Set up a great little space for us after requesting additional room to fit a small pram for our 5 month old when booking. Amazing food, and fantastic drinks (mulled wine best we've had in city). Will always recommend to friends and family if they visit Edinburgh.
As always, lovely food served by attentive and well trained staff. They were especially careful concerning my restricted diet and checked that what I ordered was safe for me to eat.
The set menu was competitively priced and the mince pie martini was superb.
We were disappointed. We were in a lower room. Waiter was nice but we had no view.
Lovely restaurant on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, service very good, pleasant atmosphere, food beautifully presented and very tasty.
The menu seemed great however, the value for money was definitely disappointing!
A very unassuming place from the outside we walked past in the day and worried that we had booked into a cafe for dinner, however inside is a very well decorated tardis of a restaurant with some of the nicest food I’ve had in a while, would highly recommend and would certainly return without hesitation.
We were so lucky to get a table at this restaurant, it's so popular, we've eaten here a few times & is always lovely, food is excellent , staff welcoming, polite & efficient. Great xmas cocktail
Second visit due to the great food which didn’t disappoint. Slightly disappointed in the service this time as the staff seemed very miserable!
A great lunch venue; centrally located and easy to access. We sat downstairs in a quiet area and enjoyed great service and wonderful food.
Excellent food & service. We ate from the special lunch menu which excellent value for money. Fantastic wine list. Really enjoyed the Malbec
The staff is really friendly, they can help you with the menu or wine choice. The lunch menu is good. Variety of dishes, the salmon as starter and the beef as main was a good choice! Good food for a nice price!
The staff were very pleasant, attentive and willing. The food was absolutely delicious with a great bottle of wine recommended by the waitress. We will definitely be making a return visit on our next trip to Edinburgh.
With such an evocative name, we expected a special atmosphere here. The ambience unfortunately, while smart, is more suited to executive lunches than romantic dinners. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food absolutely beautiful (we both had steak). It's pricey, but I would go back for the food and service. Just look elsewhere for a romantic atmosphere!
Very friendly staff service was professional and friendly the food was amazing
We dine in many fine restaurants around Europe and have been dining at Angels since it opened, and to be honest, it is probably our favourite.
Took pot luck by booking on line at a restaurant I had never tried before. Especially as I was trying to impress my friends. Having been in the catering industry for 50 years it was good to find somewhere that serves good honest food. Do not like having to pay extra for vegetables though.Friendly staff and spotlessly clean.
I have recommended to many people in the past but reluctant after my recent visit. Very limited menu I didn’t think it was good value as I have before. We would normally have 3 courses but only had a main. Wouldn’t recommend dining around 5.30pm as very young children and the lunch ladies who have had one glass too many ...... it wasn’t relaxing. Shame as this was always a ‘go to’ of mine!
The service and the food were excellent. I'll make another appointment next time I come to Edinburgh.
Although it was nice I was hoping for a little more of a romantic feel and traditional Scottish menu.
I am not sure the theme of the restaurant to the name of it.
The overall view for me was disappointing as I looked for this for the romance feel and recommendations of high value of Michelin possibility although the food was nice it didn’t give me the wow factor I was hoping for.
We had a lovely long girls lunch at Angels with Bagpipes. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had a small issue with one of the main courses but it was handled so smoothly and courteously that we were completely won over! Don’t be fooled by the location- this isn’t a tourist trap! Would highly recommend.
3rd time in less than 2 years and we live in Manchester. Still the best food we have ever eaten. Simply brilliant.
A lovely restaurant on the Royal Mile! Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere, the staff were very professional and friendly! Would recommend a visit!
Had a lovely 3 course lunch here on 19th November and it was faultless. Nice choice for the fixed lunch at £21.75 which was amazing value for lovely food. Brilliant service and a lovely restaurant. Will definitely be back.
This was a recommendation on a visit to Edinburgh and it was a great place to visit. We did the tasting menu with paired wines which was lovely. both the plates and the wine were described at each course and the staff always checked if we wanted to wait a moment between courses and were attentive throughout. I would certainly revisit and I would definitely recommend. Thanks!
Excellent food, very much enjoyed our evening at angels with bagpipes.
I love this restaurant and have visited on 3 occasions. This was the first time I sat down stairs. I have to say that the ambiance wasn't as good and the sense of occasion was lessened. Other than that the food was of its usual high standard and the service, was efficient, if a little cold. If I could offer a suggestion, it would be that the downstairs toilet area ,in particular the corridor leading to it is spruced up, as it is in not in keeping with the fine surroundings.
In summation an enjoyable night was had by all, all plates cleared with gusto including my 6 years olds and we look forward to returning soon.
Friendly staff, great food, and a great location - I would definitely recommend a visit.
This place is amazing, the staff are so friendly and helpful, it’s a very special place. The food is outstanding, it’s not cheap, but you only get what you pay for.
Lovely evening spent with friends. Food was delicious- compliments to the chef and staff
Very friendly and friendly staff, haggis starter was very tasty and the lamb was cooked perfectly pink.
The staff were very tentative to everyone's needs, lovely place to dine
Best value lunch in Edinburgh we have had for a while.
We were seated in the small booth on the right which was perfect as we were celebrating our anniversary of when we met ( 53 years ago)
We felt very well looked after by the friendly staff ( Monica) and were so impressed, we bought a gift voucher for our son and his wife to enjoy a similar dining experience.
Thank you and best wishes.
Gerry and Deanna McQue
Food was amazing! Very tasty and good sized portions. Lovely ambiance and staff. Toilets could do with a thorough clean though.
Fantastic food and great service. Can’t wait For next time
Will recommend this to friends. Would visit again. Set Lunt is menu was excellent value for money
An excellent choice to celebrate a birthday. The quality of the a la carte and the service excellent. In the evening suitable for young and older adults but not children.
Beautiful meal. Venison Salami, pork shoulder and carrot cake were all delicious. Two dined and two left satisfied raving about the quality and style of the food. Service was also really good and the location is excellent. This is a great place to dine in Edinburgh. We’ll return!!!
Second visit to this lovely wee gem on the Royal Mile. Excellent staff and amazing food. Husband requires gluten free food and they will adapt almost anything on the menu. Obviously well schooled chefs. Well done Angel's.
Staff are very well trained and friendly. The food is excellent. A little on the expensive side. £37 for a moderate bottle of sauvignon blanc is too excessive.
Delicious food and lunch set menu good value for money. Staff extremely friendly and service was excellent. Lovely decor with nice view onto courtyard.
