   Superb food, probably the best cooked steak I have ever eaten. Staff were attentive without being intrusive and the setting was lovely. This is a fantastic place for dibber

   When we arrived on time for our reservation, we were bluntly informed that we had one hour, thirty-five minutes before we had to leave our table so they could prepare it for the next reservation. While the food and drink were good and the service reasonably friendly thereafter, the rudeness of the rush--especially considering what we were about to pay--cast a shadow over the meal and would keep us from ever recommending the place to anyone. Good food and drink are available in many of Edinburgh's restaurants where the service is friendly and won't start rushing you out the door as soon as you arrive. Skip this place (it's also very noisy) and go somewhere that understands that if they expect to be paid hundreds of pounds for a meal, they should allow diners time to enjoy themselves.

   Wonderful food, great service and we were sat in our own little room with a window overlooking the alley way where we could watch people walking beneath us.

   You couldn't get more central than this! Given the tourist location the overall standard and offering is excellent. I wouldn't call the menu cutting-edge but what they do, they do well. The team is keen and helpful, without getting 'in your face' and we had a great time. The background 'music', while not very loud, got rather on the nerves of this old grump.

    Great restaurant on the Royal Mile across from St. Gile’s Cathedral. Modern take on Scottish food like Haggis, crab salad and venison carpaccio. Lovely peaceful atmosphere and great service!
