Just like its Old Town home, there are plenty of unexpected nooks, overlooking the Cockburn Street steps, the atmospheric Dining Room is at the heart. For more private occasions, the Halo room sits snug above Roxburgh’s Close. Tucked away from the Royal Mile, is Chanters ideal for that celebration.
Angels with Bagpipes Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner at Angels with Bagpipes. He ordered venison steak and I ordered salmon. Both meals were delicious and beautifully presented. The chef really knows how to blend unique flavors together! We ended the meal by sharing a pressed apple for dessert. Yummy!
Visited this restaurant 6 years ago which we really enjoyed So as we were visiting Edinburgh for the new year with friends we thought we’d go again on New Year’s Day to finish our celebration of Hogmanay It did not disappoint!! The food was as good as we remembered and everyone loved it would recommend the haggis or steak tartare ( best my husband has ever had) well worth a visit
We are 4 friends who always meet for lunch on New Years Eve. We chose Angels with Bagpipes this year as we had all eaten here previously. I chose the set lunch menu whilst the others all chose from the a la carte mainly due to the haggis Bon Bon starter.
All our choices were delicious and we had no complaints. Service was also excellent with our water glasses being regularly refilled without asking.
I would highly recommend Angela with Bagpipes.
This was ideal. Right next to the start of the torch lit procession during Hogmanay. The lunch menu was still being served at 5 - perfect portions and perfectly cooked food. The staff even let the person in our party not walking in the procession stay under the heater in the front and enjoy mulled wine while we walked. Excellent service and good people!!
This really was a superb meal. The food was cooked to perfection and the wine list was very well thought out, with small vineyards obviously carefully chosen. We had a 2 year old and the stroller was accommodated without a problem. Star dished were the goats cheese for started and venison for the main. But altogether just excellent. 5 stars all round.
My visit to ‘Angels ‘ lived up to expectation and some. I have been a regular diner for a number of years now and have always had a fabulous meal. My son and daughter in law chose here for their wedding meal and had a lovely experience. This visit, I introduced a friend to the restaurant and she certainly was not disappointed. Will be returning very soon, thanks.
Absolutely perfect food, ambience and service. I ordered a table for my husbands birthday and requested a romantic spot in the restaurant. We were seated in a gorgeous private alcove with twinkly lights in the ceiling above us. It was just perfect. The food was absolutely delicious - the best we had whilst in Edinburgh. Thank you.
Absolutely excellent restaurant. I would unreservedly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a dining experience second to none: delicious and imaginative food; wine at the right temperature; served by polite, friendly staff.
Is it expensive? Quite.
Is it value for money? I thought so. I was pleasantly surprised by the bill.
We enjoyed it so much, we are considering going back in early January. I think that says it all.
My friend and I went here for our Christmas Day out and we were not disappointed. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and shown to our table. Decor is not fussy and the whole atmosphere is very relaxing. Staff were very attentive but not in your face. Food was beautiful, well presented and tasty. Never felt pressured at any time, able to sit and enjoy our coffee. Would recommend this place to friends and family and will definitely go back.
Tremendous dining experience. We had the tasting menu (one of us also had wine pairings) and were extremely pleased with the creativity, selection, and preparation. Food was very well prepared and the service was outstanding. Intimate atmosphere in the restaurant and the location was ideal. We will be back again.
Amazing restaurant with an outstanding menu. We went for the 4-course tasting menu (plus additional cheese) with wine pairing. The value for money was excellent, the staff knowledge perfect, the quality of food sublime, location ideal and overall experience just what we were looking for. Highly recommended
The restaurant itself is stylish and conveniently located right on the Royal Mile. The service is excellent - friendly without being obtrusive. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed the food. Would recommend having more than one course, three courses was just right. This was our second visit and I am sure we'll be back.
