Just like its Old Town home, there are plenty of unexpected nooks, overlooking the Cockburn Street steps, the atmospheric Dining Room is at the heart. For more private occasions, the Halo room sits snug above Roxburgh’s Close. Tucked away from the Royal Mile, Chanters is ideal for that celebration.View Private Dining Details
Excellent food and attentive service. For the quality of the food, the price is not unreasonable but the wine is pretty pricey!
Excellent food and very good service. Set price lunch available through to 5.30pm, which is good value.
Food was incredible and was very welcoming. Would recommend to anyone!
Excellent food, service and comfort. would recommend if you are in Edinburgh
Fantastic food & service. Highly recommend. Will return soon
Yet again a lovely meal at this outstanding restaurant! It is our favourite place to eat in Edinburgh. Food is always wonderful. Portions are not huge which is perfect for us as we like to eat three courses.
My friends and I had an amazing afternoon here! Great food, staff friendly and cocktails devine! We’ll definitely be back.
Took my mum here for a mother’s day treat at lunch time. Service was excellent and food was very tasty. Got the 2/3 courses for £17/£21 which was a great deal. Portions were a bit on the small side but quality over quantity! They also do a lovely Rhubarb Gin Mojito I would highly recommend 😋. Needless to say I will be back!
As usual we thoroughly enjoyed the Angels with Bagpipes experience. The restaurant was full, although there was no sense of chaos. The food was delicious: there was no problem to meet intolerance requirements and the standard of food provided was not compromised because of this. Service was timely and very courteous.
We will definitely be back.
First visit to this cosy and relaxed restaurant. We all enjoyed our choices but the safron risotto was particularly tasty. The portion sizes were just right leaving you satisfied without being overfull. The waiting staff were very friendly and the service was quick and efficient. We had the set lunch menu which was very good value for money but I'm looking forward to my next visit and trying some new dishes.
Due to bad weather conditions only 5 of the 8 were able to attend for lunch and we ended up an hour late. It has to be said that the staff were so understanding about the whole issue and nothing was too much trouble.
The food was absolutely delicious and the service excellent and none of us would hesitate in recommending this restaurant.
Food, ambience, drinks and service were fantastic. Very enjoyable evening.
One of the best meals we have ever had. 100% recommended in all aspects. Superb is the only word that can describe it.
Had a great meal here - excellent service and food and a remarkable wine selection. I went a la carte but there is also a reasonably priced tasting menu with wine pairings. Heartily recommend and will be going back next time I'm in town.
We had a beautiful birthday lunch with complimentary champagne, lovely staff and stunning food.
Lovely experience from start to finish. Every course was amazing! Service was great, wine was fantastic and tried one of the cocktails which was also lovely. 10/10!
Enjoyed our dinner at this restaurant. Beautifully served food. Very fruendly staff. Wine a little pricey.
Had a super lunch here before the rugby. Would highly recommend
Overall a great night, I think the staff was a little disjointed because of the rugby fans in house.
Food was great but steak was to salty haggis and whisky terrific
Was very impressed with the helpful, friendly staff. The menu was excellent and there was more than enough choice for the member of the party who was a coeliac. I would not hesitate to recommend Angels With Bagpipes and cannot wait to return.
Lovely restaurant. Lighting and appearance very nice. Food was excellent. Service very good Staff very pleasant and attentive. Was a weekend away and would highly recommend a trip here.
Booked this restaurant based on a friend's recommendation for my husband's birthday. Food was simply outstanding, music was light, recognisable for our age group, and ambient! Always a bonus! Topped off with recognition of the occassion with complimentary prosecco and a very thoughtful, yet discrete, candle in my husband's dessert (not the usual CD playing congratulations, waiters singing, whole restaurant joining in debacle, although everything has its place, this wasn't it.. ;))
Beautiful romantic friendly place with the most amazing food. Will definitely be back. Loved it. Simple.
Excellent food with fresh seasonal ingredients. Really well presented. All 4 of us were very satisfied. Service also excellent. Wine list varied and reasonable. Would certainly recommend.
Lovely meal, I had venison, the waiter suggested how it should be Cooke so I took his advice and it was superb. Husband had a steak he declared was cooked perfectly, we shared a cheese and biscuit desert. From the complimentary prosecco to the end of the evening, the ere was excellent
Superb meal. Fantastic experience. Now been several times and will certainly be revisiting
We had a very enjoyable meal. I had the pate and the lamb which were delicious and my husband had the salmon and the cod which he liked very much. We finished off sharing the cheese and biscuits. This is my 3rd visit here , first time for dinner and thoroughly recommend this. We sat downstairs, a lovely ambience.
Absolutely delicious food in a gorgeous setting. The staff were friendly and attentive but not intrusive. Highly recommend!
The staff were extremely knowledgable about the menu& very accommodating. The food was delicious, well cooked fresh ingradients. Nice atmosphere, would highly recommend!
2nd time here. Chateaubriand was amazing, really enjoyed haggis starter both leaving no room for dessert. Service was very good although would have liked a bottle of water on table as had to keep asking for top ups. Definitely recommend.
Great food and service but we were tucked away down the stairs at the back with only one other table being occupied! And we were put right next to them, bit awkward when it’s quiet as we could hear each other’s conversations!
Very good food Very good value for money at lunchtime Excellent friendly service Will definitely return
Outstanding. First visit and really enjoyed the experience. Beautiful food and great service. What more can I say.
Very good food , service , atmosphere ! Good definitly go back !!!
Everything was perfect!
Absolutely brilliant food, lovely staff & relaxed but sophicated atmosphere. The only draw back was the lighting. It was so dark It was hard to read the menu. Other than that I would recommend Angels with bagpipes.
My wife and I had our 30th wedding anniversary dinner in the restaurant, we had an amazing dining experience, the staff were very attentive and extremely friendly, as for the food, absolutely delicious, definitely in our top three for quality, service, and a fantastic place to dine.
If you fine yourself in Edinburgh, Angels with Bagpipes is a must!!
Friendly environment and food was outstanding. We were pleasantly surprised with a glass of prosecco just because I mentioned a special occasion when booking a table. Overall, would definitely recommend!
Lovely birthday lunch - pleasant service. Fish and chips- lightest batter ever around beautifully cooked fish. Beef good too. Table d'hote great value. Nice wine list. Nothing to dislike
This was my second visit to angles with bagpipes.Even better than first visit .Excellent standard of food great service and dietry issues easily dealt with ...which to me me implies fresh cooked food .
If in Edinburgh well worth a visit.
Only drawback but just minior point nowhere to sit and have pre dinner drinks .
Keep up grt work .
