Just like its Old Town home, there are plenty of unexpected nooks, overlooking the Cockburn Street steps, the atmospheric Dining Room is at the heart. For more private occasions, the Halo room sits snug above Roxburgh’s Close. Tucked away from the Royal Mile, Chanters is ideal for that celebration.View Private Dining Details
Delicious food and wonderful service! We had a great time and really enjoyed our meals and over all experience. Will be back again, thank you guys!
Loved this restaurant from the minute we walked in, the staff were so friendly. Really interesting menu and the seasonal lunch was good value. Everything we ordered was perfect and well presented, we will be back!
Amazing food and amazing service all round top quality! Taster menu is the one to have 5 star rating!
Food prepared with good quality ingredients and well presented. Service totally impersonal albeit efficient. Cramped corner table with noisy neighbours squeezed in too close by. Overall ambience thus spoiled.
Tad expensive but well worth it! Greeted on arrival and taken to table very quick (definitely worth booking the table as people were asked to wait as they were full). Can see why as the food was amazing! Everything cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Service throughout was attentive with someone always around. Highly recommend.
This was my second time in this restaurant. I suggested to my boyfriend that he would enjoy the food because he's a chef and likes to see menu concepts and presentation in different restaurants and it didn't disappoint. I already knew I loved the food and had been dying to go back since my first meal and my boyfriend said it was one of the best meals he's had in awhile.
We had all 3 courses and a couple of drinks and it waiter was very nice.
Never lets us down! One of our faves!! Always a treat to be dining here, highly recommend 😊
Wonderful dinner to bring our honeymoon to a close. We loved everything we ordered, and the staff was great!
Once again Angels with bagpipes served us up a fantastic visit, with a great atmosphere, warm friendly staff and food that was perfect, full of flavour and won’t take your eyes out when the bill comes. Special thanks goes to Innis and Amy, our 2 waitress’s who topped our night off by being top class and showed they cared and really made us feel like we were the only 2 in the restaurant.
Excellent dinner with business visitors from Norway. First time they had tasted Haggis and Whisky! Attention to detail was great, wine excellent and food fresh, local and delicious.
Not a thing to complain about. Loved it.
Angels with Bagpipes has got to be the best name for a Scottish restaurant. The location on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile is prime people watching territory. The building is quirky to say the least, on different levels and with cosy nooks perfect for an intimate meal.
Service is attentive, friendly and helpful with little touches that set them above the norm.
And that’s all before we’ve eaten a bite! The food is beautifully presented, perfectly cooked and delivers on flavour. I admit to being concerned at the minuscule starters however my fears were unfounded as it was a taste sensation and following courses were generous. Really was excellent.
Our overall experience was great, however we were given a £100 gift voucher by my daughter and her family for our Christmas. The bill came to £85.00 and we were told we could not get the difference refunded. I found this upsetting, what I did say was they were to give the balance to the staff as a tip. I hope this happened.
First time here, we went here because we wanted to be in old town. Excellent food, staff kind and attentive,. Will certainly be back.
Me and my girlfriend had a dinner last Saturday. It was my girlfriend’s birthday. We arrived, the lady in the door was very kind and she showed us the table in a kind of private room with just our table. It was really nice position to have a romantic and quiet dinner. On the table we found a complimentary glass of prosecco to wish happy birthday. The food was outstanding, so delicate and nice portions and the staff were very attentive, professional and friendly.
Price was ok for the quality of service and food.
Lovely dinner out we really suggest.
Great place, really impressed, Would happily go back
Excellent food and good service, it's a pity there was not a better outlook.
Excellent food and service, would highly recommend for a special occasion or just a very nice meal out.
Wonderful dinner with family. Everything we tasted was delicious.
Amazing experience overall. Great menu, the service was exceptional and the food came promptly & was amazing!
Excellent meal all round - good menu, great steaks, good wine list and good service. Smart surroundings too.
Nous avons apprécié les petites attentions de la part du staff : apéritif et table pour 2 face à la fenêtre ... le restaurant est très bien situé dans Edimbourg , la cuisine raffinée et le personnel agréable. Nous avons passé une très bonne soirée .
This was a special occasion for my wife and I in Edinburgh. From the moment we were greeted at the door to when we left we had a lovely experience. It was recommended to me and I will certainly spread the word. Thanks everyone!
After seeing some good reviews and able to secure a reservation, my husband and I thought it would be a nice restaurant to try Scottish cuisine while in town. However, as enthusiastic foodies, the entire experience was just...average. The flavours weren't right on any of the courses we tried, from starters to dessert. It was too expensive for what it cost and even if the food did cost less, the food simply wasn't anything spectacular.
Because of this, I can't recommend Angels and Bagpipes.
The service was great, except for some inexplicable reason the front of house inconsistently offered some guests champagne upon sitting down at their table and only took some guests' coats to hang up.
Elegant yet cozy atmosphere and great service. The food was beautifully presented and my chicken was the most perfectly cooked I've ever had. Perfect for an anniversary date night.
Excellent service by Paolo and very good food. The atmosphere was outstanding.
Visited with family and friends for a late birthday lunch disappointing had the set menu a lot of batter hardly any fish inside others said the soup was very nice but meat dish although tender very dry needing a sauce deserts were okay.
On a positive note Waitresss we had was excellent.
Heating needs to be addressed as it is cold in the Restaurant.
The tasting menu was a very good choice with wine served to match each course. Excellent meal and service.
We had a wonderful experience here, specifically because of our waiter and the quality of the food. We sat downstairs and it was quiet and lovely. My mother was celebrating her birthday and we had just flown in after a long and terrible flight. Our waiter brought us champagne and it made our night. We traveled for two weeks through all of Scotland and it was by far our best meal.
Our second visit and it did not disappoint. Lovely food, good, reasonably priced wine and friendly service.
Thoroughly recommend. Excellent service and fabulous food. We had the chateaubriand which was cooked to perfection.
Booked after reading reviews, I wanted something that ticked all the boxes. Compliments to the chef, I had goats cheese starter, Chateaubriand then couldn’t resist Chocolate Rhubarb! All I can say, looking forward to staying in Edinburgh again, and wouldn’t hesitate to return!😍
Had an early reservation. The restaurant, which is small, is in a lovely space. There were two table of 2 and only one other group arrived while we were dining. On Open Table the place had only an early time slot available. Nevertheless, while lovely tables were completely empty ( the entire time) we were seated in the last table in the restaurant with one of us facing the back wall. Why’s that? Would we have fared better as walk-ins? The server was not knowledgeable nor terrible efficient. There was no warmth. Was it worth it? I’d say no. Even for foodies what makes a place special is the overall vibe. On our visit this restaurant missed the mark.
Nice place, a little bit noisy when room is full. Good food and warm service .
Took my partner for an anniversary. Food was out of this world, I had fish starter as they had ran out of the crab...not even slightly disappointed as it was magnificent. Main was lamb, far rarer than my usual chop and again it was perfect for the dish as a whole and if they have a wine recommendation, take it!! Panna cotta and a liquor coffee for pud, the panna cotta was the show stopper for me. The fruit accompaniment was perfectly suited, not to sharp that it soured the mouth!!. Staff fantastic, attentative but not overbearing. Never caught with food in my mouth which was refreshing 😂 cosy, romantic setting and even when in such close proximity to other tables, the noise level was perfect for private conversation. We will definitely be back and couldn't recommend this little gem highly enough. Thanks for a great night!
We loved this restaurant - definitely our favorite during our stay in Edinburgh. We had the chateaubriand, which was excellent. The banana cheesecake dessert was heavenly. Service was great.
Had a dinner for our wedding anniversary and it was really phantastic... The location, staff, food, drinks, everything. Thank you!
We were only in Edinburgh for 2 nights and chose this restaurant for a nice meal based on other reviews. We were seated downstairs in a a lovely small dining area that I’m sure would be even prettier if it was dark outside (we were only able to get a 6:30 reservation on a Tuesday). The food was delicious. We both had fish. They have a good wine list too. Our server did an excellent job, as she was the only server for the room. I would definitely recommend this restaurant .
Excellent restaurant and would not hesitate to recommend. Food perfectly cooked and presented and very food service. Great location in the old town. Very glad we booked as this place gets full at the weekend.
Amazing meal wonderful service definitely recommend to friends.can'the wait for our return
