Place is great, not over keen on the menu but was ok, crab starter would have been nice with out the crab shell. Did mention at the time to our server but didnt seem to faze him which given the rest of the experience seemed out of context. Will go back again, loved the Argentina Malbec.
We chose the taster menu, definately recommended for fish lover and wine lovers.
The food was delicious but I think the whole menu is worth a try so check out the three course standard express menu avaliable at 6pm. The service was also excellent and I will be popping by again another time.
Sublime food, lovely staff, a wonderful evening.
The food at the Angler is nicely presented and very tasty - and excellent value on the Evening Standard offer! The extras are overpriced though so best avoided. The service was the most memorable part of the evening, exceptional!!
Each of us had had a different tasting menu. They were very good quality indeed. They were also very good value - which is surprising and very welcome of a Michelin star restaurant in the heart of the city. I eat out a lot in London - i entertain a lot of clients. This is my first time here and its the real deal.
Excellent food in lovely surroundings. Service was attentive and informed yet unobtrusive. A lovely experience.
The food and service are great and it’s a very comfortable and modern restaurant.
Great food. Lovely ambiance. Great service. Tables quite close. Opportunity to eat outside on terrace.
I took my son to the Angler to have a special mother son lunch the week before his wedding. I have eaten here before in the evening and really had great service. How disappointing today was. The restaurant was not busy so little ambience, which I appreciate the restaurant can’t help. However perhaps others received such poor service and that’s what’s keeping people away. There was no one to greet us when we arrived eventually I went and got a waiter who took us to a table. With no menus or mention of getting us a drink. I had to ask for menus after a 10 min wait. We eventually got our glasses of champagne. Again I had to ask for wine list. The wine did not arrive till we got the main course! The food was excellent but at these prices you need much better service. Overall very disappointing. I will not be returning.
Food was subtle, staff attention excellent and the Sommelier helpful. Great location for Liverpool St district business meetings. External tables really pleasant. Well worth a visit for fish lovers.
My friend and I chose Angler because we wanted to catch up for dinner but in this heatwave, wanted something light to eat. This was our first visit and I was impressed - cool temp and decor with lovely windows and an outdoor terrace that looked like it had a nice relaxed vibe going on. My friend had the fixed menu and I chose from the A La Carte. Great ingredients, really well balanced and presented with loads of cheffy nibbles in and around the courses. This is something that I like anyway but on a menu that is dominated by seafood, adds a few more oppurtunities for texture and flavour. I could eat the little garlic prawn crackers with aioli for hours. There was dessert envy when my friend got the raspberry souffle - it was incredible and put my citrus tart (which was v nice) completely in the shade. Excellent cocktails and champers, great service, no rushing which was particulalry nice and the bill wasn't appalling - I've had the same in a gastropub (note: we didnt have wine and champers was by the glass). Didn't leave feeling stuffed but that is what we were aiming for. I am happy to recommend Angler and will definitely go again.
Great meal and definitely worth a Michelin star. The food was great and the cooking was executed to perfection. The tasting menu is superb. The service was also top notch - extremely professional and friendly at the same time. Highly recommended
The service is excellent but the bread，coffee，tea，pork is normal
My client was very impressed.
To watch the RAF fly past commemorating 100 years was an additional bonus
The dining experience at Angler was first rate, and the flavour of the food was to die for.
Had Lunch with friend and business associate at Anglers Roof Top outside table.
Lovely ambience, great food and service. Thank You.
Outstanding service; good food but portions are quite small and a bit overpriced. Although I guess, the price is also about the place which is very high standard. Perfect for a business meal.
Very attentive service. Restaurant itself was quiet and Michelin Star expected well arranged. Now, the lunch menu was fantastic, simply fantastic in both ways: quality of food and creative presentation as well as in term of price/value. I’ll definitely come back again.
Fabulous meal, the lobster and octopus was outstanding. Service and wine list also excellent. Highly recommend.
I had one of the most wonderful dinner with my friends. The food was delicious and spectacular.
The service was perfect with a really friendly and knowlegable team of waiters and the sommelier did an amazing job with the wine pairing. We really enjoyed our time at that beautiful restaurant and I can just recommend everybody to try the Angler.
Thanks again :)
Great cooking, good service, pleasant but rather beige room.
Overall very good and reasonable value for money
The food was incredible, the service was impeccable and the atmosphere was calm and relaxed. It was the perfect place to celebrate my partners birthday.
As a group of three friends we had a lovely evening - great food with discreet service. Good wine and cocktails list and the tables are spread out so you don't feel that you are sitting with the table next to you! Surrounded by windows so it was lovely and bright. We will definitely return.
Had a really good evening at the Angler, the tasting menu was superb and lets you experience 3 starters, 2 mains and 3 deserts from the a'la carte menu. The resturant is in a great location on the top floor of the hotel with views over the City of London financial centre. The staff were attentive and polite. Although mainly a seafood menu the Lamb was out of this world.
Lovely food and ambiance. We had the short tasting menu which delivered on every course. Wine pairings were good too.
Check out their long or short tasting menu to sample some of the finest bites you've ever had. This place is pricey, but the food is absolutely divine.
Enjoyed the Taste of Spring menu - lovely little small plates before the starter which were probably the highlight. Starter of lobster cocktail, main of sea bream and dessert of a white chocolate mousse. Food quality really very high but quite small portions - not left hungry but definitely felt a little underwhelmed. £45 for the meal including a glass of champagne not bad all things considered but when the competition is so high in the area, slightly disappointed....would certainly have given full marks if the portions had been more generous
service was pretty much immaculate.
cooking was very good, although the combination of crab with hot orange sauce jarred slightly.
and the terrace bar appeared to be mostly populated by noisy big groups who weren't dining in the restaurant anyway, so don't rely on that for a quiet pre-dinner drink.
Fabulous menu and delicious cooking - the fish in mushroom broth is worth its own visit. Impressed that the kitchen were able to adapt and rustle up a gluten and dairy free dessert.
I booked originally for a business lunch but had to change to evening dinner due to circumstance the restaurant was very accommodating.
The food as excellent although we only had the spring taster menu . Everything was fresh well presented and although at times difficult to understand presented by the staff impeccably.
My only minor gripe was the amount of attention we were given was a little overpowering but not unpleasant.
Although a little on the pricey side I will return to experience the excellent food tastes.
Wow amazing food from start to finish richly deserved Michelin star
Awesome service, staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgable.
Amazing food. We had a really amazing experience and will be returning with friends.
Excellent food and service. The John Dory was particularly good
Menu was very limited ... half a dozen starters and the same for mains. Only one starter and one main was not fish. The food was excellent although it was the usual French Haut Cuisine ... a.k.a. Tiny portions. You do receive lots of little things from the chef ... pre-dessert nibbles... pre starters, post starters ... it was more of a degustation. Lots of little portions of food but equisitely done. I’d go back as it really is a pleasurable dining experience but don’t starve yourself beforehand. We had 2 starters, 2 mains (there are no sides), bottle of wine, glass of wine, glass of dessert wine, 1 dessert and 1 cheese board. £280. The wine was £75.
Excellent food. Service really friendly and the restaurant was stunning
A fantastic evening. Top class food and service from what is expected Michellin starred restaurant.
Everything was excellent.
Thanks to administrator: I came 25 late, but they wait for me and save my place (I called before).
I had been so looking forward to this meal as it had been some time since my last visit and I had built it to my client up as somewhere quite special. Which for the food it undoubtedly is.
Sadly, we were not received with a warm and welcoming smile, more like a School mistresses dressing down for being a 10mins late and were told that our booking had been cancelled.
Luckily it’s the restaurant and terrace we’re half empty so that managed to find us a table on the terrace.
We were then rushed to order the food by a rather impatient waiter who again had the unsmiling, charmless demeanour of the receptionist.
This continued throughout the meal - no sooner had we closed our cutlery our plates whisked away and the next course delivered. Then the dessert menu. Rush, rush, rush - a reason given this time though ‘you are the last table in the restaurant and the pastry chef is waiting only for you’
The champagne unfortunately was served at a much slower pace and we sat with empty glasses on several occasions whilst they decided which waiter should be pouring it for us. Other terrace guests were simply helping themselves!
The food however was exquisite - and certainly did not deserved to be rushed!
And after a change of shift we did eventually get a waiter who seemed happy and was able to engage in a suitably friendly service - smiling and pouring drinks!
Excellent food and service. The sommelier was particularly helpful without pushing his knowledge over one’s taste. I will return
Amazing meal at the Angler - highly recommend for special occasions. We had to 6 course tasting menu which was wowow! Sat in the roof terrace. Truly five star service.
