It is a must to try this restaurant. Amazing food, fine dining.
The food was great. The service was never bad, but seemed to change shift part way through and tailed off a bit. The decor (and loo's) need a bit more decoration to make the whole offer a bit more attractive, but the place was full and quite buzzing, and you can just enjoy the company of your table companions whist relishing the delicious food.
Completely unassuming and unpretentious restaurant with no frills but fantastic food and service.
Note that only the tasting menu is available at the weekend however, which is worth the experience but was more than we'd planned to spend on lunch. This means no choice, but they were very accomodating and provided an alternative to the meat course. It was very quiet at lunchtime, which was perfect for our group, but I imagine it is buzzier in the evening. Would definitely recommend.
Although the menu was slightly limited the food was excellent and the service and ambience were very good. The bread and butter was delicious and yes I will come back and eat here
Top quality cooking, 2nd visit and was even better than before!
We had the lunch time tasting menu with wine pairing. The manager explained each dish and wine pairing to us and was very friendly. As for the food, that was a complete wow and something we will be seeking to repeat in the future. A thoroughly brilliant experience all round
The value and quality of the food was good but the service and the decor was poor and please do something about the toilets! At a cost of £65 a head I would expect a better overall experience.
Five of us came to Anglo for a special occasion. We all greatly enjoyed the tasting menu and would recommend.
Terrific experience as usual. Great food and atmosphere. Had an old friend from out of town and it was the perfect setting to catch up. Anxious to see your new wine menu, as it was clearly under construction. First time tasting the red version AO’s SP68. Very nice little wine.
Food was delicious. Service was a bit slow at the beginning and we had to wait when we arrived for our bottle of wine. The Ladies toilets had an unpleasant smell and the seat was wobbly (a little DIY needed). However we could not fault the food and this place is a real little gem.
Absolutely brilliant quality. Always incredibly inventive, great service and for the price I think it is the best fine dining tasting restaurant around
A great evening food and service was spot on
If you are looking for some brilliant fine dining food and are happy with a modest ambience, Anglo is definitely a place for you! I have already been there twice in a few months time, the second time taking along a close friend (and the first being an anniversary celebration).
Astonishing value. September deal £35 for 5 course tasting menu with glass of fizz. Superb quality as always
We went for a day date as a treat while our baby was with a childminder. Such a lovely little gem in Clerkenwell. Food was really excellent. Both set menus were good value. The starter of a English pea was outstanding and husband loved the lamb. They were a bit short staffed at the beginning but our waitress was so professional and courteous that we didn’t mind at all. Highly recommend.
After lots of research for good value, Michilen recommended tasting menus I finally settled on Anglo. It was my mums 65th birthday so wanted something special. We had lunch, full tasting and full wine package.
The restaurant itself is very unassuming and you wouldn't really walk past it, you really do have know it's there. Really basic inside, not pretentious at all, which is what I think the owner was trying to achieve. Staff were fantastic, the sommelier was very knowledgeable about the wine and drinks which would match the food. We had an additional cider to accompany the 'cheese on toast' and jeeeezzz it was amazing (I dont even like cider). I think at this stage I understood why certain drinks match certain food!! We.were seated at 2.10pm after running a little late and left at 5pm. We were not rushed at all which was fantastic.
Ok, so now the food.... tasty, flavorful, well presented, and was left you wanting more each time. We left full and content! The fish with oyster sauce was fantastic. Every dish was different and transitioned so well to the next. Would recommend all the add ons (scallops and cheese on toast were extra). I was surprised about the supplements but I was in there for the experience so i didn't mind.
My mum received a signed menu and chocolates at the end. Overall extremely pleasing afternoon!
Superb tasting menu with very interesting creative dishes. The cheese on toast with the truffle is sublime as was the mussels in cauliflower soup as well. Wine pairing was also a treat with some interesting matches provided that added that extra bit of quality to the night
Second time we have been and even better this time. Loved the no choice menu and drink pairing which included a beer and a wine.
Absolutely loved our visit to Anglo! Food was amazing, loved the lamb in particular! Will definitely be returning with friends!
Three of our party of four had the standard tasting menu, the fourth had the vegetarian alternative. The food is exceptionally good and the service was excellent. We chose not to have the pairing wines but shared three bottles over a long, enjoyable evening. The cost was £125 per head. A restaurant with so much ambition serves better decor and a more salubrious location.
We had the three course menu for £24.50 which was perfectly cooked and delicious. However, portions are very small, even for someone as myself who is not a big eater.
There was limited choice but happily my husband and I enjoyed everything we chose.
Best meal I've had in London in a long time. Fantastic service and the food was simply incredible. 7 courses - I didn't want it to end! Will be back as soon as I can!
We had the tasting menu and liked 3 of 5 courses. I was not hungry when we left, however the portions were smaller than I would expect. Service was great!
Really amazing dinner! The food was beautiful in both look and taste, but the drink pairing was what really made this exceptional. Such interesting choices (white Sangiovese being a standout).
Little gem we found in London. Great tasting menu and the sommelier was outfuckingstanding. Happy Days. Anglo Restaurant highly recommended. Sonia is awesome
Delicious food, couldn't fault it. The wine paring is definitely worth it. Each wine perfectly complimented the dishes they were paired with. We will certainly be back!
Nice little place. Food was delicious and the service was fantastic.
The dishes were small but surprisingly filling!
The three course lunch was awesome, definitely have to go back and try the 5 course version one day!
This is a really great restaurant. The food is exquisite and the atmosphere is quite casual, which again is great. No pretensions just really amazing tastes.
Great food, good value, but terribly loud. Wouldnt recommend for special occasions.
Delicious meal and excellent service. Can’t wait to go back
Great value lunchtime tasting menu which tasted delicious! The drinks pairings were good and the waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly. Was able to sit for 3 hours and enjoy lunch without feeling like we were being rushed out which was amazing.
Really amazing food and wine in a non-pretentious setting.
Great food, engaging and very knowledgeable service - this a great value "tasting menu" and a lovely intimate setting.
Anglo restaurant was fantastic, we had an amazing experience, great food and service.
We were recommended Anglo as a 'place to go' as we like the kind of food they served.
The food was OK, it didn't blow us away, for the price which was £238 for the two of us. It seemed like it was trying to be a Michelin star restuarant but neither the food nor the service was u to scratch. We waited a long time between courses for our plates to be cleared. Felt a bit like they needed another member of staff on hand. The beer final beer paring was a Camden beer, which is made by global giant ABinBev. Very disappointing it wasn't something independent. We googled a few of the wines, and some you could pick up in the supermarket for £8 a pop.
Probably wouldn't reccommend to friends, given that price. Lamb and fish were nice, though!
Love everything about this restaurant, every new dish is amazing. Unpretentious, understated and delicious food. 5 stars for sure!!!
Tasting menu interesting and flavoursome. Restaurant ambience a little bland and basic for type of restaurant. Staff wonderfully helpful.
Excellent tasting menu, inventive tasty dishes that are just filling enough to not leave you stuffed but satisfied.
The food was amazing. Interesting yet still felt substantial. The lamb and tiramisu were stand out. Tasting menus can leave you feeling like you have grazed on a few veg and sauces...but not this one. Inventive. The tiramisu was amazing with each spoon revealing a new taste - rich rich chocolate sorbet, coffee, lime. Yum yum yum. A "proper dessert" in my book. The waiter was also very generous and enthusiastic in sharing his knowledge of wines. I'll be back!
Fantastic food, atmosphere and wine selection. Excellent value for the incredible quality of cuisine and raw materials.
