Tasting menu was awesome, very refined and tasty, mordern with a twist
This place is great. Should be getting more recognition than it currently is. Went to a "top" London restaurant a week earlier that is getting a lot of hype which does similar seasonal, modern, British food and Anglo blow them away. Every single dish.
A group of 5 of us had a superb meal on a Friday evening. We went for the full tasting menu with wine pairing. Food, wine and service were all superb! Highly recommended.
Outstanding food and brilliant drinks pairing. Great value too.
We had the tasting menu along with the paired drinks. The food was fantastic, every course was delicious and the drinks paired wonderfully. We also really enjoyed the mix of drinks that were served including wine, beers and a cocktail!
Grea night out and the service was great. Would definitely recommend
Outstanding service, food, and price. Fabulous dinner!
I have been to many Michelin-star restaurants and Anglo is up there, beating them all. It’s all about the food and it’s presentation. No fuss decor, polite and relaxed service, but ever so efficient, reliable and fast. Had the table for the night with no rush to push us out to allow for more customers. We felt important and we loved every minute of it! Do yourself a favour and try this!
Whilst the staff were attentive, the restaurant had no ambience and offered poor value for money.
Notwithstanding that the location is in Farringdon and you can expect relatively high prices, it was hard to justify paying £13.50 for a main course vegetarian risotto that amounted to less than two tablespoons in quantity....
Great food close to Hatton Garden in a minimalist surrounding.-which still has its own style and ambience.
Absolutely sublime. Constantly surprised by the inventiveness, simplicity and bursting with flavour of all the dishes on the fabulous tasting menu. The drinks pairing is inspired.
Mark Jarvis is such a wonderful chef and has a great team working with him in Anglo, in the kitchen and front of house. Can't wait to go back.
Incredible meal with attentive service. Did not disappoint.
Last night I had the most incredible meal at Anglo.
The food and service was amazing, but a particular mention to the sommelier and the drinks pairing which consisted of 3 wines, 1 cider, 1 cocktail & 1 beer. I wouldn’t normally choose a cider for a tasting menu, but it was the best cider i’ve ever tasted ....and i’m from Somerset.
You can really tell the chef and sommelier are so passionate about what they do.
I was also impressed that although i didn't mention it was my bday, they noticed we were exchanging gifts, and then took it upon themselves to bring over a candle and wish me happy birthday.
I would highly recommend
Fantastic food in a small but lively venue. The tasting menu was excellent, well explained and good value.
Not sure I would go with the wine pairing.
Absolutely fabulous evening at Anglo - my third trip, always with different people; all of whom have LOVED it. We had the wine pairings too which were all fabulous - and Tom sent us the listing afterwards which was great as we both wanted to try some of them again they were so delicious. The food is better than many Michelin star (or even 2!) restaurants we've been to and incredible value: £142 each including both extra courses and a glass of fizz to start, along with 6 wines and about 8 courses. Unbelievable. We went to Greenhouse last year and spent about 4 times this per person, and the food was NOWEHERE near as good as here.
Excellent service, brilliant food, charming chef. The taster menu was an absolute delight with terrific flavours. Perfect for foodies, but not for those wanting a huge steak and chips.
Latterly Anglo has found a fine balance to the food and menu. Flavours that are less punchy, less intense combinations, but greater harmony. Consequently there's a confidence to the cooking that feels new found. Great food, superb wine service, very friendly team.
Nice atmosphere, very good tasting menu.
Wines a little overpriced, 12£ for a small glass of Californian white is a lot.. Would go for the wine pairing next time.
Overall, definitely recommended!
Wedding anniversary- a superb experience
Food is outstanding. The restaurant is very informal (Café like) but you’re in for a delight when the food arrives
Food as good as you will find in London, with a fun relaxed atmosphere perfect for a birthday.
Shout out for the salted cod - unbelievable.
My girlfriend is gluten free which caused no problems at all.
Can't wait to try the new restaurant Stem!
Anniversary meal. Food was outstanding as was the service. We liked the fact the staff are quite casual and very friendly but you still get top class service. A great meal all round!
Fantastic food and service. The pea and mint ice cream was incredible. Very impressed by the drinks pairing also, a classic range of wines with innovative takes on cider and mead. Top drawer
Excellent food, we had the drinks pairing and loved having chocolate stout with the chocolate desert! I was struggling to eat everything towards the end, next time I will have to skip the extra courses.
My second visit to Anglo and I was once again so pleased with the evening. Small restaurant, great service and a unique tasting menu using only fresh and in season ingredients that is worthy on michelin stars. Highly recommended, the chef is a rising star.
Beautiful food, great staff, will definitely come again.
I’d heard a lot of good things about Anglo. Well, let me tell you - it delivers on the hype.
Wonderful meal, the 8 course menu (plus 3 intros) was excellent value and we really enjoyed the drinks pairing, which is a mixture of wines, beers and ciders - we had 4 wines, 1 cider, a porter and a sour beer, all really lovely and perfectly matched.
The food was fantastic. Most important the flavours and cooking were second to none. Presentation was excellent too.
The food is very modern british. The portion sizes are however very retro. Took me straight back to the early 80s. For this reason I would recommend the very reasonably priced tasting menu (which we didn’t have)
A meal we will always remember. We had huge admiration for the superbly crafted dishes! (all of the very many of them on the set degustation menu). In addition the extra quail dish we ordered was simply fabulous. The cooking combined flair & professionalism extraordinarily well. We thought it all showed an excellent balance between inventiveness and style with no hint of forcing or affect. Tiny quibble, & quite possibly our problem, but we found the ketchup element of the lamb neck dish didn't work for us. Advise going with the wine pairing option not the drinks one. It was an interesting premise but having relished the multiple wines (often interesting & outside the usual parameters)when these were followed by mead, cider, & sourbread beer with the desserts it just made for too much liquid at the end of the meal. Service is brilliant - really friendly, attentive without being invasive. Slick simple interior. The passion & attention to detail is evident in all. A big thank you. Birthday treat for my wife who is a professional food taster. She was very very happy!
Four of us went for partner's birthday. Two arrived earlier then booking but were seated immediately. Each and every dish of the tasting menu was absolutely gorgeous, both in taste and look. The dishes were spaced out according to us - not too fast us we were having a great time. At some point our companions realised we need to hurry up otherwise they'll miss their train, so the staff accommodated and dishes came more quickly. At the end we got an extra pudding with a Happy Birthday written on it in chocolate sauce and a candle, as well as the menu signed by all staff - my partner was really chaffed! Overall great experience.
You never quite get what you think you are going to from reading the menu. In a good way. Whoever thought you could re-invent cheese on toast
Wonderful and reasonably-priced eight course tasting menu. The staff were very attentive yet the restaurant was not at all stuffy. The food spoke for itself - the pea ice cream was a marvel.
Such a great spot. The ambience is chilled out and easy going, the food is spectacular. Really thought the service was excellent, we had a late table, we were the only people left, but the staff looked after us really well.
Also, don't be fooled by the small plates, you leave full!
Very much recommended, the highlight of my trip back.
My 2nd visit to Anglo, this time with my daughter. If possible it was even better than the first time and my daughter was thoroughly impressed. Your food is wonderful, your service amazing without being intrusive. Not pretentious but fab food. I liked the fact we were told there was a new pea and mint dish on the menu and we were asked for our feedback. Emma is a great asset and told us she is going to their new restaurant which I cannot wait to try. Don’t become pretentious or unaffordable because that is your attraction. Can’t wait to come back when the menu changes again (or even before).
I love Anglo. The food is wonderful and the service friendly. I only wish I had the time and money to go more often.
Had a great meal for my birthday at Anglo. We did the regular Intros & 7-course tasting menu on a Thursday evening with the premium wine pairing. The food was really good and well explained, with a variety of different and interesting flavours and textures.
The chicken was my favourite course (which was moist and flavoursome), but the desserts were particularly standout too. We didn’t have any extra courses (such as the scallops) that we could have added on, but I was comfortably full at the end.
We were talked through the wine in detail and they really were some fantastic pairings. Several wines were also ones we wouldn’t try by ourselves: a Moroccan wine was an interesting choice that actually worked!
The service was excellent and I got a special surprise for my birthday, which I was really touched by and really made the difference. I’d really recommend this restaurant as my new favourite in London.
Fantastic dinner. Brilliant service. Would recommend any time.
I booked our anniversary dinner at Anglo many months ago and the evening was well worth it. We added the cheese course to the tasting menu and had one drinks pairing (including beers) and one wine pairing. The food was exemplary and the service was wonderful. It’s not cheap but for a special occasion, highly highly highly recommended!
Lovely staff, great, refined food on the tasting menu. Unique choices with the drinks pairings too. All made for a great couple of hours eating and drinking.
Fine dining in a more relaxed setting. Very good standard of cooking. Subtle flavours and well presented
Not more than average. Not a good value for money. Bad service.
