The attentiveness of the wait staff, the friendly neighborhood vibe and the quality of the food make you feel like you've been invited over a good friend's house for dinner. Very good pizza, pasta and seafood are served. The Stuffed Calamari usually served on special Friday nights (e.g., Good Friday) was the best I've ever eaten. The Fillet of Sole Francese style, which is a regular menu item, is absolutely delightful. The brick oven turns out wonderful pizza and calzone as well.
The flavor of the food here is the best amongst many Italian eateries in the area, or anywhere for that matter. The food alone will keep you coming back, don't worry about anything else.
Very fun restaurant! Friendly staff, good food and reasonably priced. 10 of us ate A LOT and had wine and beer for under $40/person (before tip).
Did not appreciate that my reservation couldn't be found when it was made a week in advance. So we got stuck with a table by the door. Unprofessional, they didnt have bruschetta or any vegetarian options and the dont make VIRGIN DRINKS!
Happened on this place from social media searches. Quaint neighborhood place.
We were seated right away. Service was great and the staff was very happy to serve us. Bartender made some great drinks.
All of us really enjoyed our meals. The pastas were very fresh and cooked perfectly. We ordered carbonara, the fusilli dish on menu and cavatelli with broccoli rabe and sausage. All were very good. I was somewhat surprised by the cavatelli dish being served in a red sauce. I enjoyed it as it was flavorful but I prefer it without tomato sauce. Dessert was very good as well.
We would like to come back from NJ and try more on the menu.
We were recommend to Aperture from an Italian man, born in Italy Italian. The cook is from Naples, the pizza was phenomenal! Everything we ordered was fabulous! I will definitely go back and already told a few friends about it.
Dated decoration and atmosphere. Back patio is designed/surrounded by doors and what is supposed to be the walls/inside of a regular house; claustrophobic. It is definitely not "rustic" here and more hotel lobby restaurant feel. Fresh oysters and seafood but wish the decor was more date-appropriate or romantic
We chose this restaurant for it's convenient location to an event we had attended and based on previous reviews. While the food was good, the ambience was sorely lacking. The front of the restaurant, which is very small, has a bar and a few tables and a nice ambience with white table cloths, candles, and exposed brick wall. However, if you are seated in the lower level, there is zero ambience. We actually compared it to eating in a garage. And, it was a chilly, rainy evening and it was quite cold. This was a big detractor from the overall experience.
The food was delicious and the service was very good.
Delicious food and wonderful staff
I love this place. It’s cozy the food is super yummy. Band everyone is extremely friendly
Great service, great food, good value! Will be returning!
It was my first time having Italian food there. Therefore, I was a little nervous because my spouse really wanted some really good Italian cusine. We were both very pleased. The food was tasty and hot out of the stove. I had penne vodka and my spouse had chicken parmesan with spaghetti. Our appetizer was fried calamari and it was fresh. I will definitely go back again.
Really great service! Would definitely recommend!
As I have come to expect, another great meal at Aperture. The house salad was fresh and the Italian dressing wasn't too zingy.
The shrimp parmigiana was cooked perfect and delicious.
Their house wine by glass 1/2 carafe or full carafe continues to be a bargain and is thoroughly enjoyable.
The service makes you feel welcomed and relaxed.
Food, drinks, service and the atmosphere was really great. We waited at the bar for my cousin to arrive and we really enjoyed ourselves. We all plan on going back really soon to try other dishes on the menu.
Service was good and food was spot on!
20% tip is crazy plus the waitress needs better training
As usual, they treat their customers as family. They're happy to see you, serve great food and make sure you are more than satisfied with everything.
When we arrived, the place was empty. Music was very loud as we were seated in the room down the steps. Nice waitress.
Appetizer was stuffed mushrooms. Very good. Bread was likewise very tasty.
I had veal Marsala. Lots of mushrooms. The sauce was not bad, but not great. The veal was not breaded and just average.
Had a nice cannoli for desert. Tasty and fresh.
Overall, a decent meal , fair price. Not the best Italian in NYC, but you get what you pay for.
Food and service were fabulous. Unfortunately there was a private party in the rear dining room, so we were seated in the bar area. It's not the staff's fault, but the patrons at the bar were quite loud, making it difficult for us to carry on a conversation. I would like to try it again.
The staffs was Very accommodating. My man and I enjoyed our dinner. Nice portions to full your bellies. Good Italian food.
The food was pretty good, service was quick. The day was extremely hot and this restaurant is small. It had to be 90 degrees inside. I don't think I'll be back, other Italian restaurants that are quieter, cooler and better food. It was an ok dining experience but not exceptional.
The sweet BBQ chicken pizza didn't had any BBQ sauce but some cheap tasting sweet and sour sauce. The margarita pizza was tasty. The calamari salad was very blend.
Thanks to OpenTable for exposing Aperture. I was not aware of it and both my wife and I are very glad we now are. We got there at reservation time and had our pick of tables inside or out. We chose the outdoor back area which we had to ourselves. Everyone there, especially our waitress genuinely seemed glad to have us as patrons. All of the food was fresh, in generous portions and what you would expect from a good Italian restaurant. This place should be entering heavy rotation with some of our favorite spots.
Not too much to take home and rave about, but it was ok. Perhaps the entrees are better than just ok, but it is a friendly atmosphere. A little odd that the workers/ owners or family members were drinking and dining at the bar during a Saturday dinner service.
We had a family birthday dinner at Aperture. The food was excellent, our waitress was very attentive, accommodating, and generally very pleasant. The atmosphere was nice. Overall we were very happy and will definitely be coming back soon.
Great food with a large menu, prices are low but offerings and presentation are high! Will come back, especially to try the brunch.
While looking for a Christmas Eve Italian bite to eat we came upon the site for this restaurant and the reviews were so genuine we gave it a try. We are so glad we did. Unseasonable warmth allowed us to sit out back. Our waiter Rob was a gem. Apps, esp baked clams, were perfect. Our mains and deserts were great. All in all a perfect Xmas eve bite prior to the full family onslaught. WE WILL BE RETURNING SOON.
Really enjoyed the restaurant the food was fresh and prepared to Perfection. The Waitstaff was attentive and very pleasant. I will definitely be visiting again
Great nearby home dinner spot. Good service, old fashion, great sauce.
I've been a huge fan of Aperture since I moved to the neighborhood, but had only ever had dinner food. Everything I'd tasted had been amazing, so when I found out they served brunch I came with my family for my birthday. Not only was the food outstanding, but our server was incredibly friendly and attentive. He kept us laughing the whole time, and when he overheard that it was my birthday, brought out a slice of cake with a candle at the end of the meal. I love this restaurant!
I had a group of ten or so friends at Aperture for a birthday brunch this weekend, and it was exactly what I was looking for -- low key with friendly service and great food (especially the Aperture brunch special and the apple bourbon pancakes). I would definitely recommend it!
If you want to relive the look and taste of the food that your mother used to make (assuming your mother was the best Italian cook ever!), go eat at Aperture! It is a casual, neighborhood joint that just happens to serve incredible pastas, meats, fish, and... Do not forget to save room for the Italian cheesecake!
Fairly new hole in the wall. The size of this place does not take away from the beautiful architecture. Our waitress was very friendly and pleasant. The food along with the serving dishes were very appealing. Your food have to look good to taste to enjoy! We enjoy it! We shall return maybe on a Friday night for a different type of dining experience.
Our waitress always checked up on us to see if we needed something. The food was also very good. My sister enjoyed her pizza while my boyfriend and I loved our pasta. Their Vesuvias chocolate cake was sooooo good.
The food in this restaurant was truly delicious and fresh. It was nice to find authentic italian food in this neighborhood because it seems to be turning all french american food wherever I look. I will definitely return to this place when I'm back in the area.
My party of 11 people had brunch at Aperture this past Mother's Day and it was one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was friendly and the ambience was gorgeous. Highly recommend Aperture for brunch.
top notch new restaurant with great service and even better food. would recommend to anyone
Excellent service, so delicious. Loved everything about it. Can't wait to go again.
