We aim to give you an unforgettable feeling when you taste our food, taking you to the various regions of Puglia, have you been? If not, then its time to go there ... of course, through us! Or feel free to visit our main branch in Bari, where we have had years of experience creating wonderful dishes, which we now bring to you in London. The most important ingredients that we use in creating our dishes are actually imported directly from local producers and farmers from the Puglia region. We use very little yeast in our dough for both our homemade bread and pizzas and the proving process is a minimum of 72 hours. We, Sassa & Sons, are bringing Italian style cooking to you using our grandma’s recipes, unchanged in every way.
I had a pizza which was delicious although very large and with a lot of cheese on it.
I felt the drinks were expensive, especially when they had a further 12.5% service charge added on.
Lovely venue and ambience will come back again and recommend to friends
A very good bowl of pasta and very friendly service.
As authentic an Italian restaurant can be. Food and service excellent. If it wasn’t for the rain outside you could’ve easily imagined that you’d been in Italy !
Good selection of pizzas and desserts. Friendly staff who were accommodating for vegetarians.
Terrible value for money. Food was ok but portions were tiny. 11 pound for 3 calamari rings and one tiny tentacle. 15 pound for 10 ravioli. Would not recommend. I am from Puglia myself and there are much better restaurants serving apulian food in the city.
lovely authentic italian restaurant, friendly accommodating staff.
Food excellent. But as a starter the Focaccia, listed as a nibble was far too large. Just wanted something to nibble on whilst we waited for the main course. Sadly I think preparation of our main course was not started until later because we had given Focaccia. There was a long wait between our arrival and the serving of the main course. Noticed that tables who arrived after we had ordered, had their main course served way in advance of ours.
Lovely food, service a bit variable especially when getting the bill. Portions could be bigger for the price. Would return, pizza looked great.
Great food, some of my Puglian favourites. Good service and a short stroll from the Barbican.
Fabulous food, friendly and efficient service and lovely ambiance thank you
Great as usual. Liked the people and the atmosphere. food was really delicious and wasn't too noisy thank goodness!!!
Lovely independent restaurant. We enjoyed a delicious pre-theatre dinner. The Pumpkin Cream pasta was delicious! Good to see some more unusual pasta dishes on menu.
Tables were a little close together but the ambiance was good.
Always really enjoy the experience at Apulia - it is a restaurant I visit again and again.
One of my favourite London restaurants - reliable, delicious food!
We loved Puglia when we visited Italy so we’re excited about this restaurant. The food was great! The rosé was plain and definitely not value for money. It was quite noisy but that’s to be expected as a popular pre-theatre venue. Also found the service to be average. Plates were cleared while we were still chewing and olives just disappeared before we were done.
Very good traditional Italian food from the Puglia region. Good choice of wines and cocktails. A great place for casual dining and pre theatre. Efficient and friendly service. Good ambience. Would definitely recommend.
Yet another place I wouldn't have found, but for OpenTable....................
We were out for a birthday treat; art exhibition at the Barbican, then lunch.
This is a sweet place, with a warm welcome.
The quality of the burrata was amazing - always a good sign.
Pasta for mains; wild boar ragu for me and orcchiette with sausage for the husband - his favourite. Both were excellent.
Very good wine list.
The art was great, too..................
Found that the staff were not very attentative despite the fact that I counted out 6 members of staff just hanging around together chatting.
I eventually called out for service and it took some time before somebody came to our table to take our order.
I did inform the waitress that I had been calling out to her and her colleague but they were so engrossed in their chat that they were unaware that we were trying to get their attention.
The food tasted authentic but there was so little of it.
Dinner was served in bowels but there was so little food, we were very disappointed. The cost of the food did not match the portion size or the taste. £22 for a mains and not feeling full after eating is not good value for money.
I am currently suffering from Long COVID and only eat very small portions but even I did not find the serving sufficient.
My husband needed to get a sandwich later in the evening as he was still hungry (and he also had desert)
we certainly will not be returning to Apulia and not recommending it to friends.
Excellent menu for pasta & pizza that had variety & choices not seen in chain restaurants. Very good wine list
The food is deliciously authentic and satisfying.
Ideal pre theatre dining. Very enjoyable. Recommend 😀
What a happy place this is. The food is delicious, lovely staff and lots of buzz! We shall be back often!
Very very good restaurant, exceptional food and service 👍
Try to be rustic Italian food , but lack flavour. Decoration is charming, service attentive. Good if you’re hungry and want something simple
Excellent venue and service
We booked a table for a pre-show dinner. We arrived ahead of our reservation time and the staff made every effort to accommodate us. Lively atmosphere and a good choice of Italian dishes on the menu. Service was prompt and the food very good. Enjoyed the occasion and will certainly return.
Food was good but pretty over priced and small portions. Nothing out of the ordinary, and service was quite stretched but service charge mandatory for a table for 2. Nice place but nothing special!
Lovely freshly-prepared food. Particularly enjoyed the onion focaccia and home-made ravioli with garlic and herb sauce. Good options for vegetarians. Delicious pudding of chocolate and nut mousse. Decent regional wines. Just between Barts and Smithfield. Good location. Attentive and thoughtful service. Comfortable and informal.
Informal, genuine Italian. Lovely pasta and amazing pizza with a variety of specials and a lunch menu
Always really great food and atmosphere, and great value!
Attentive service, delicious food and engaging interesting maitre de
Greeted fair nicely by a man at the front. Shown to our table. Chairs felt cheap. Sat down and offered water each. We accepted. Then a lady came over to but didn’t look too happy. Gave us a low down on what they had. Ordered the special of lobster spaghetti. Came out as a whole lobster with some spaghetti dropped on top. There was more shell than fish on the lobster. Spaghetti was far too salty. My girlfriend has a spaghetti dish which was too salty as well.
Asked for the bill to find that the water was charged at £4 plus a mandatory tip of £6.50. Total bill of £58. Paid and walked away. Would never return. Had better meals at McDonald’s and better value for money.
Overall the restaurant is a nice place but the owners seem like they’ve lost faith in the place. Personally think it’s time for a new chef too.
This authentic PUGLIESE restaurant is really a good discovery!
They also have a very good variety of South Italian Wine.
I would recommend the Pasta, Orecchiette are amazing.
A great dining experience. The food was outstanding. Cozy place & attentive staff.
One of my favourite spots pre-COVID and super glad they are still around and everything is as kind and delicious as always.
No ambiance at all, chairs uncomfortable, sticky tile tables. Not a little flower or candle to be seen any where. No soft music in the background. Gentleman on front desk, not welcoming at all. Very disappointing experience. We had a delightful waiter though who was smiling and very pleasant.
Authentic Italian eatery - had a great pre theatre dinner. Close to Barbican centre only a 10 minute walk. Great choice of wine and food. Food was very fresh and tasty and good value for money. Staff were very friendly and we were seated and served quickly. I would definitely go back there again.
We enjoyed our evening. Thankfully able to sit outside on a nice evening. Food and service excellent. Staff were attentive despite being outside.
One of my favourite places - authentic Pugliese cuisine and wine, lovely staff, always a great experience
