We aim to give you an unforgettable feeling when you taste our food, taking you to the various regions of Puglia, have you been? If not, then its time to go there ... of course, through us! Or feel free to visit our main branch in Bari, where we have had years of experience creating wonderful dishes, which we now bring to you in London. The most important ingredients that we use in creating our dishes are actually imported directly from local producers and farmers from the Puglia region. We use very little yeast in our dough for both our homemade bread and pizzas and the proving process is a minimum of 72 hours. We, Sassa & Sons, are bringing Italian style cooking to you using our grandma’s recipes, unchanged in every way.
A lovely space in a great location just round the corner from the Barbican Estate, authentic Italian food cooked from scratch and served with a smile. Would definitely recommend
Great spot. We go often and always have a great meal, great value, terrific seafood.
We overall enjoyed the evening as the restaurant looks nice and welcoming but not completely satisfied with the food. One of the mains was lacking completely of salt and the starters were a bit poor for the price. Being an Italian family run restaurant and not too cheap I would have expected something more.
The staff were really friendly and all the food was of excellent quality and delicious thank you
My seven year old daughter thought the ice cream was the best she has ever had!
Dinner with my 19 year old daughter after an event at The Barbican. The menu has a very authentic range of puglian food as well as dishes from other regions. Generally good quality though wouldn’t impress my puglian friends as not quite the same degree of care about the dishes. Possibly because they were packed out - even at 10pm. I’d certainly give them another try.
Absolutely love this neighborhood gem. Food is always fantastic with a wide selection of seafood. You won't find better pasta anywhere.
We used to really like this place, but it is feeling a bit tired.
Service was good but the food was only so-so. This was on a Sunday afternoon and there wasn't a huge clientele on hand so it might be that they weren't on their A game.
We started with bread and olives. The bread was good but neither of us were too impressed with the tomato based sauce it was served with. The olives were large green things with almost no flavour. It might be personal taste, but I prefer my olives to taste a bit like olives.
On to the mains. My Ravioli dish (chosen from the three course set meal) Ravioli ai Funghi Porcini con Burro Alle Erbe Aromatiche e Noci* was good. Unfortunately my wife's spaghetti dish, Chitarra al Pesto di Pistacchio, Gamberi e Limone*was a real let down because the spaghetti was massively over cooked. I didn't taste it but it just looked like a stodgy mess on the plate. She left three quarters of it on her plate - a fact that wasn't queried by the waiter - so I'm guessing this wasn't an unusual event.
Lovely personal service, and amazing food. Not cheep - but very good value for the quality and taste. Would recommend to anyone looking for good Italian food.
I had the set lunch menu of the focaccia and lasagna. Both were very generous serving sizes, delicious and only £15. I tried visiting a few days before but didn’t have a booking, so I would definitely recommend booking first! See you again Antonio!
We came in early for a pre-theatre meal and went for the set menu. We’re really glad we did! The staff were attentive (at just the right level), the food was lovely and we will definitely be coming back. Such a good find!
Great Italian food, varied seasonal menu, fresh ingredients and great value!
We were eating pre-concert so a bit too early to start in a really convivial atmosphere but by the end of our meal we were sorry to be leaving. Staff always delightful and the anniversary liqueur was a lovely touch.
We loved the food! Definitely will be back for more.
This restaurant was recommended by my daughter. Lovely food and friendly staff but unfortunately they seemed to have little knowledge of the menu. Started with a delicious salt cod tempura and followed with an octopus main which was nice. Dessert was apple and cinnamon cake which in reality was a little dry. All in all, I'd go back but it's not the best I've been to.
Good - a bit slow for business lunch
Great fresh Italian food. Some original dishes and great seafood options. Would highly recommend.
Seafood pasta was dreamlike. Everything was perfect.
The food was very good. We ordered the bruschetta and calamari as starters and a pasta and pizza as mains. The Baba was a delicious end to our meal. The service, by Shehan, was excellent. Good value and a must repeat.
Small restaurant opposite market. Smallish menu, mainly pasta or sous vide meat/fish. Generous helpings of delicious pasta. Pistachio prawn and lemon fettuccine was excellent.
We took our son and his partner there for the first time. We have been many times. It’s always really good, food is always delicious
Very friendly and helpful service, especially as some of our party arrived very late - we were not made to feel we were causing trouble, and food was brought very swiftly when the time came. Delicious seafood, home-made pasta and pizza.
Lovely meal, excellent staff. Extremely attentive. Great atmosphere.
Welcoming staff, great food and drink. I met with a vegetarian friend here and we were both able to find something. I actually liked all three courses which is saying something for me. Well done chef & staff in general.
Really enjoyed our evening. We reserved last minute on OpenTable for a large number on a Tuesday. The restaurant ended up filling. Food was really nice and service was attentive. A warm experience.
A range of interesting Italian dishes that are less common. Beautifully presented, and served.
Price is a little high, but it's an experience dining, rather than cheap pasta.
I can’t fault this place or the people for an easy going lunch lunch. very satisfied.
The service was a bit slow. Took more than one hour to get our mains and we had to then rush off and skipped dessert .
The food was nice and the restaurant is very nice too
Amazing experience as always, fantastic food and friendly service. We had a birthday and they went out of their way to make it special.
Our usual time for dining at Apulia is for a pre-Barbican meal and this was also the case this time but we booked early enough to have a relaxed meal and had time for dessert. The food and service were excellent as usual and we enjoyed some nice wine by the glass. It's one of our very favourite Italian restaurants with interesting menu and special choices.
Nice restaurant - all good - quiet when we arrived at 5pm on a saturday but was packed within an hour - good service, good food and we had a nice table - i would recommend.
Very enjoyable as always , excellent value set lunch menu
Lovely food as always.
Great atmosphere, good service
The food was nice. Traditional Puglia dishes. Quite at 6.15pm, busy by 7.15pm when we left on a Thursday night. Tables are very close together so it's hard to get in and out during your meal. Nice meal for two + a bottle of wine and dessert was c.£80. Unlimited filtered water refills for £1 pp which is good for the environment
We were seated next to a large party of 10 people which made it very noisy in a small restaurant. Pleasant service and good pizzas but prices on the high side, suppose this is because of the location.
Nice little Italian - food did not blow me away but it was decent enough for a weeknight meal near the city.
Extensive menu of food and wine. Lots of helpful staff
I've dined here many times and always enjoy it. I'll be back!
