Apulia welcomes You in for a taste and experience of southern Italy !
We aim to give you an unforgettable feeling when you taste our food, taking you to the various regions of Puglia, have you been? If not, then its time to go there ... of course, through us! Or feel free to visit our main branch in Bari, where we have had years of experience creating wonderful dishes, which we now bring to you in London. The most important ingredients that we use in creating our dishes are actually imported directly from local producers and farmers from the Puglia region. We use very little yeast in our dough for both our homemade bread and pizzas and the proving process is a minimum of 72 hours. We, Sassa & Sons, are bringing Italian style cooking to you using our grandma’s recipes, unchanged in every way.

Ordered Pasta dishes which were extremely small portions and not very tasty.
Shame, we have eaten here before and really enjoyed it

Always a great place to eat with authentic food and a great wine list. So glad that they are not pandemic casualties!

Great to see this little genuine Italian restaurant being so successful - it was packed on a Tuesday lunchtime in a quiet corner of Smithfield. Despite being so busy the service remained pretty good and dishes were excellent.

We had an early evening meal here as soon as they opened (5.30pm) ahead of going to the Barbican Centre (very convenient for that), so it was quiet; don’t know what it would be like later on. The food is Southern Italian, so good on seafood: I had a very good risotto di mare, and special of the day was spaghetti with langoustines. They also appear to do a good range of pizzas which were being enjoyed at the next table, as well as various pastas. Service was friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our meal, and would recommend this place for anyone looking for a friendly unassuming place serving good Italian food and wine.

A great wine list, delicious choices of susbtantial dishes (beef cheeks), to pasta and pizza for all tastes, yet maintaining unique flavours of Apulia. Must become a regular customer!

We had a table of 9 which was a bit of a challenge perhaps but the service was a bit slow to take our drinks orders and food(arrived after 45mins)
But it’s still a good restaurant having eaten there a number of times .Significant price rises post COVID.?

A lovely, what felt like traditional, family run Italian restaurant. Service was impeccable! Very friendly, helpful and personable. Food was hot and delicious. And so many options. The environment was intimate but it was big and lively enough to feel like a fun night out. Going to recommend to anyone!

Good atmosphere, friendly quick service, food was a bit disappointing for the price-my pasta was too ‘al dente’ for my taste. Would try the place again though.

Nice food, Not greeted at the door as they were very busy, my friend had already arrived so found him.
Noise level too loud for me you need so soft furnishing to absorb the ambient noise.
We only had a pizza and it was very nice, not rushing back

We were eating pre- theatre and we were served very quickly. We had booked here because it was the only restaurant with availability in walking distance or the Barbican & we can understand why. The food was very poor - the ravioli bland and tasteless & my husband was also very disappointed with the wild boar ragu pasta. Felt completely ripped off. Almost £80 for 2 pasta dishes, two glasses of wine, two bottles of beer and a shared dessert. I could have made considerably better food at home and I’m no chef!

Very good simple Italian food with a regional twist served by knowledgeable and friendly staff. It's got a good "old school" feel to it without being stuffy, though the tiled surfaces make it quite a loud place if you are hoping for a quiet conversation.

We had 2 very good dishes - cheese with pears and a pizza. The other 2 dishes were poor - a bruschetta which didn’t taste of much and a ravioli which was unpleasant.

The service was very poor. Our food was nearly an hour late and we were going to the theatre. Had to rush it and one dish was actually cold. No opportunity for a further course. The manager was surly and unapologetic. No discount was offered. I’ve seen similar reviews from other customers. Get the impression that they value profit over customer care. Would not recommend the place to anyone.

We visited this restaurant based on reviews we had read and weren't disappointed. Friendly attentive staff and really nice Italian food. The start of cooked cheese with apple and raisins was absolutely divine. Really convenient for our visit to the Barbican afterwards. Would recommend this restaurant.
