Dishes feature carefully-selected fine British produce and combine the staple ingredients of British cooking with innovative techniques. The restaurant is open all day offering breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The contemporary cosmopolitan interior has distinctly British touches; gin and tea, both with strong roots in this part of London, have inspired the design along with Liberty fabrics which appear in subtle touches throughout the restaurant, complementing the dark oak floor. From sunrise to sunset, guests can enjoy the ever-changing views of the London skyline whilst sampling British cuisine and stunning cocktails.

Food and ambiance very good, but table was small for 4 people. A couple of minor problems with service (sides arriving without serving implements) which were quickly rectified. Understand that the fabulous view affects the price so value hard to judge.
Great location and atmosphere. Great service. What is the kitchen doing? Over cooked meats. Lousy oysters. In fairness, the sea bass was perfect.
Great venue. Excellent service - very attentive staff. Food was excellent for weekend brunch.
Well worth a visit. Perfect for special occasion. Good value considering price to view from the top. Similar view with food bonus! Looking forward to returning.
A average drink is charged for around £20. It would be a little pricey for only one drink but the view is totally worth it.
It was terrible service and a terrible table. The evening was a disaster because of the table. Wedges between the kitchen, the bar and a deriving station. Knocked 20 or 30 times by waiters. Plates dropped by the table glasses smashed and like eating on the middle of Kings Cross Station. Will never go again. The only good thing was the view
One of the best restaurants to enjoy London skylines!! The views are simply breathtaking! You don’t need a window seat as all tables provide panoramic views of the city. The chateaubriand was delicious and our server paired with a wonderful Bordeaux wine from Chile! Exceptional service, ambiance and food!!!
We enjoyed our meal at Aqua Shard. The service was great and we even got a little cake for my husband's birthday.
The food and service was excellent, and using the special offer for three courses and a bellini for lunch made it very good value for money. We weren't initially sitting near a window to enjoy the view but the manager went to great pains to move us when another table became available. As we'd already finished eating by then, he made sure we were given a complimentary prosecco. What a lovely lunch and experience!
Went for birthday lunch. Had a nice time but waiter spilt the jus all over my brand new white trousers. Tried mopping me up with tonic water which also got spilt down my blouse. Wasn't offered any compensation for this. I did write in to complain and was asked for a copy of the bill for lunch and a copy of the bill for the dry cleaning neither of which I had kept. Was then offered a complimentary round of drinks for me and a companion which I declined as I'm not an alcohol drinker and it's too far for me to travel and use my precious time for a diet coke. Thought they may have waived the coffees off the bill but sadly no.
The views are, no surprise, absolutely stunning.
The service and the food? Stunning in a not good way ...
Service was well-intentioned, but poorly trained. On multiple occasions our conversation was interrupted and our meals served (but the wine poured?) while two of us were away from the table. The person who ordered fish was pretty happy - but those who ordered lamb or beef sorely disappointed as our medium rare orders arrived very well done.
Overall it felt like one of those “rip off tourist” dining experiences ... I was surprised a restaurant that borrows it’s name from this fabulous bit of architecture fell to such a disappointing level.
Would not go back myself, but if *you* go, know you’ll be overcharged for the food and service in exchange for the view. Consider a cocktail at the bar instead, and dine elsewhere ...
Never again - service was unacceptable
The food and meal were excellent the service fell flat.
When we arrived our table was not ready which was not a problem we were seated at a nice waiting table. However I had to ask 3 times if we could order a drink, lots of staff milling about but expecting someone else to complete the order. Once we were seated in the restaurant the experience got better and we had a lovely helpful waiter. We had to wait quite a while for our main course which our waiter apologised for and chased before we had said anything, this wasn’t a issue for us ad my friend and I were not in a rush and were enjoying our catch-up lunch. Views are amazing too.
I booked a table at Aqua Shard for my sisters birthday and we both had a great time. We had walked miles and dressed for comfort, so by the time we arrived at the restaurant we looked a bit disheveled in comparison to the rest of the diners. However we were treated like royalty and given a table by the window with a fantastic view. The head waiter organised a birthday sweet for my sister with happy birthday written on chocolate and went out of his way to make us feel special. I'm very grateful, we had a fantastic time and will be back again.
The service wasn’t great.
A friendly welcome , table with a lovely view delicious meal with very good but unobtrusive service and an opportunity to walk all round to take in different views
An excellent experience both in terms of ambience and cuisine. We were surprised and impressed by the amount of space, the chic ambience and the excellent level of service. Although we only had the set lunch the food was delicious and we left feeling satisfied. I thoroughly recommend this venue especially for a special occasion.
It was my second time there and it was another very good experience.
Service was good. However, heavily inflated prices.
We came to Aqua Shard for breakfast, it was peaceful, not rushed and staff were attentive. We enjoyed our experience.
This place is really all about the view. Noisy! Not for a romantic dinner, fine for a birthday, etc. Food was uneven, service was rushed. We had a great table for two at the west window. We ordered martinis which took forever to arrive. Before they arrived they began requesting our dinner order. We pushed back and told them we wanted to have our drinks first. Then another waiter came to request our dinner order. The drinks arrived and they are the typical European version - tiny - even though we had requested doubles. So before we finished those we ordered another round. Once those arrived we ordered dinner - the tasting menu paired with wine - and the first course arrived about 5 min later. Glad we waited a bit to order. We both had the venison tartare for the starter - delicious! I had the seared halibut over cauliflower mornay - wonderful! My partner had the beef short ribs which was a huge disappointment. More fat than meat. Dessert was apple and cinnamon crumble. Tasty but unremarkable. We enjoyed the experience but once was enough.
Excellent value, very nice food & good service.
Looking forward to our next visit.
Great setting, food average and overpriced.
The views can't be beat, but the service was not amazing - 30 minute wait for the wrong coffee. And for the money, the food wasn't top drawer.
Starter plate taken and waiter tried to replace immediately with main course.
Only 1 ladies toilet working for whole restaurant
Table not cleared properly, crumbs left in table
Great setting and decor
Bubble and squeak awful
Food was good, ambience pleasant. The lunch deal was good value but drinks were very dear. £5.50 for a bottle of water. £6.50 for half a lager. Worth it as a one off. Try and get a table facing north
Idéal pour un bon cocktail avec une vue imprenable sur Londres. A recommander
There wasn’t enough staff to keep an eye over every table. It took them literally 15 minutes to get the menu and even longer for getting our drinks. On complaining, the manager said he’ll make sure that we get quick service but then again the same happened with the deserts.
We requested to be seated by the window because we was celebrating our anniversary but said nothing. The place is very noisy. The wine glass was dirty. Food was good but very expensive. Overall is just OK
Our booking by Open Table could not be found on the evening and yet we were listed for entrance. The offer of a 3 course meal with a bellini was only for lunchtime we were told and yet I was able to book it on line for 6 pm. They offered a less than satisfactory alternative at £65 pp and with the wine we would drink at £48 per bottle we decided elsewhere was the best plan for the evening. The staff were very courteous.
The staff were great and helped us celebrate by providing a complimentary ‘congratulations’ dessert and Bellini
Service very slow and too expensive for the quality of the food.
We found all the staff very friendly and helpful providing excellent service . The set lunch menu was very nice and good value . The views are terrific and the placing of our table next to the window took full advantage of this . We were very efficiently served allowing us to get to our matinee theatre show on time .
Booked through this web site yet the offer advertised was not correct. Week ends and bank holidays they run the fixed price (GBP 44 per head) meal not the advertised 2/3 courses for GBP 34
That being said the eggs Florentine was excellent with vivid yellow yolk cascading down perfectly cooked muffin. I followed that by Lobster thermador. Flavoursome and delisious. Just the right quantity. For our I chose the treacle tart. Nice but too sweet for me.
A lovely meal nice attentive staff and wonderful views.
It was misleading from their website : 2 courses meal £28 ,3 courses meal £32 and 3 courses with a Bellini £34 but when I ordered such set menu, they got £44 for 3 course set lunch for me to choose only. I was quite disappointed.
Reading many negative reviews, I came to Aqua Shard with low expectations. However, I've been positively surprised! I arrived 15 minutes earlier, and I've been greeted straight away by the staff, who seated me in very nice table with a stunning view (even with the cloudy sky). The waiters who served us have been polite and professional throughout the lunch, always quick to take the orders and bring the food. The dishes are nice (nothing like a Michelin starred restaurant, but still enjoyable) and the cocktails are very well made. Is it a good restaurant? Yes, it definitely is, and the atmosphere is great with all the glass windows over London. Is it expensive? Yes, very much, but I guess it's what you pay for dining on such a landmark as the Shard. Overall, a very nice experience.
Would only recommend for drinks in the evening. I have been a few times at the Aqua and each time the food service has deteriorated. We visited for brunch which took a very long time between courses and to even get the starter it took 50 minutes from the time we ordered.
Staff where great the view amazing my beef was cooked to perfection.
My partners was a little cold for his liking but apart form that we had a wonderful lunch.
Poor service and food that was expensive and not very good. The views are lovely but it is all ruined when you feel that you have to fight to get any attention and that there is no point in raising any issues with either service or food. It feels like no one is concerned as it a feeling that you not expected to return so the experience you have is not relevant. I would try another restaurant but would not recommend Aqua.
