We ate outside on a very cool windy day. The staff were friendly and accommodating- adjusting the outside heater and even providing a large umbrella when it started to rain. The food was delicious and the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff made up for any physical adjustment required.
Post vaccination reunion
Beautifully prepared meals. Great wine list although they were out of our first choice which was a Chateau neuf du Pape.
First visit in 14 months.. Very disappointed with the changes in food, service and ambiance.
So good to finally be back.
We have eaten at Aquitaine on many occasions, but this time were extremely disappointed in the Veal Schnitzel. It was dry and over fried to a crisp. I was embarrassed for my guests who were first timers.
Restaurant was perfect as far as Covid was concerned. Nice spacing.
Service was terrible. Waitress got the checks all mixed up not once, but twice. Brought the wrong food. Restaurant needs to train their waitresses or waiters to LISTEN and get it right the first time. Aquitaine used to be the best of the best. Hoping they will get it back to that. Used to be one of our favs.
Special occasion was first restaurant meal in 13 months with a good friend who was also fully vaccinated! They have a nice outdoor patio. Food was good as usual. They were understaffed. But it was a greatly appreciated experience
Brunch was fabulous- highly recommend!
They were completely in the weeds. Not ready for a full dining room and doing take out. Waitress left us for 45 minutes last Saturday night. Food arrived both over cooked and cold. Normally a great place. Hope they figure it out.
The food was superb and I would have scored higher on service but our server was stretched very thin and seemed to have way too many tables to serve. I don’t blame our server. He did a good job. But there were gaps and longer than desirable wait times between courses and especially to pay our bill. Again, food was excellent but like many restaurants these days they are short staffed
Aquitaine is an outstanding restaurant in Chestnut Hill. We have been several times during COVID. They are sometimes understaffed, but the service is warm and efficient. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere is perfect for a night out.
We love Aquataine. Love the ambiance, food & overall a nice, romantic but casual and convenient evening out.
Food here is always top notch. Very good staff to boot. My fave place to meet friends for a real conversation. Truly a "neighborhood" gem.
Our dinner outside was fine. The food is very pricey and it's a mall restaurant really and didn't do anything to make us feel like we were eating someplace really nice. My son was brought the wrong meal and we just kept it because our service was a little inattentive, although friendly. What he did get wasn't cooked properly. My meal was small in portion and not super warm. But the flavors of everything were good. All in all fine but nothing special.
Always a great experience all around!
While I like the bistro decor inside, we are still eating outside... so were in the back. They have set up an enclosed patio space in the rear parking lot area, which you have to pretend is not in the parking lot ;) heat lamps and good service made it work. I only wish they had put a table cloth on the tables, it would have been so much nicer. Our salads were excellent, and the sole meuniere, while not really authentic, was decent.
We din d at Aquataine for Easter. Our waiter was excellent , he was attentive, personable and efficient. The food is always consistently delicious and the portions are substantial with a nice presentation.
The bistro is a great neighborhood restaurant, it’s friendly and cozy. Excellent wine list and awesome cocktails.
We had to wait 5 minutes to be greeted and seated while host took a take out order over the phone which is not that big a deal but very odd. Are waiter was unhappy and unfriendly probably because understaffed. We had to wait 55 minutes for our food to come out (people next to us over an hour and they ordered first.
I’m not a review writer or complainer but this was bad experience. Better off closing than that level of service.
It was lovely, great food, well prepared, good service
We took our friends from out of town out for dinner. We started with the tuna, mussels and beet salad. The tuna and mussels were very good. The beet salad was terrible. For dinner we ordered the filet, hamburger, salmon and sole. Everything was delicious! For dessert we ordered the chocolate mousse and the creme brûlée. They were excellent as well! Unfortunately, the service was poor. I think the restaurant was much busier than anticipated and they were short staffed. This is not a common experience.
Good COVID plans. I felt safe and really enjoyed a delicious dinner. One of our first restaurant outings in over a year. I. Really. Missed. Restaurants.
Food was ok.. service was a little uncomfortable. our server wasn’t the most pleasant, but did his job. He must’ve had a bad day.
We had dinner inside the restaurant and enjoyed the experience; however, there was only one other table occupied since it was a Monday night during the pandemic. The food was excellent and menu choices were perfect for us. The Steak Frites Aquitaine was delicious as was the Sole Meuniere. The salad greens could have been better quality and is one reason I did not give the restaurant a higher rating. The waiter was quite nice, although not fully trained to answer our questions, another reason I did not give the restaurant a higher rating.
We have found Aquitaine Bis to be respectful of our concerns during COVID and always attentive to our needs. This was our second in-restaurant experience there since the pandemic started. The food, as always, was outstanding, as is the wine list.
It was nice to dine out in a pleasant, refined atmosphere for the first time in over a year! The restaurant seems to be taking Covid precautions seriously, which helped us feel relaxed and comfortable. The food was well-executed French bistro standards, but nothing outstanding or unique. I had a very nice cocktail. The main problem was very slow service. It looked like they were understaffed that evening for the number of occupied tables. The wait-staff did a good job when they did come to our table.
Its great to have Aquitaine back! Clearly their staff has been reduced, so service was quite slow, but I expect service will improve as the business comes back with time. One waiter was wearing jeans and a sweater and was noticeable in that he did not wear a uniform.
Food was EXCELLENT, just as good as before the Virus shut everything down. The good food will bring us back, and we look forward to more staff coming back, too.
Always love the peaceful and relaxing vibe at Aquitaine with the softest music. The burger is incredible along with the French onion soup and escargot. Nothing like it. Wonderful ambience plus the combination of great food is a crazy combo!
Service was absolutely terrible. We sat for 30 min+ before anyone came over to take our order (beverages and food), and then when it came one of the plates was completely wrong and had to be remade. Likely won't be going back.
I went here for a date night on Saturday night. We were greeted by the host who was very friendly and sat us right after we arrived. We then sat there for at least 15 minutes before anyone came over to take a drink order. We both ordered appetizers, I had the belgian endive salad and my date ordered the escargot. My salad was overloaded with dressing and the escargot was too salty. For entrees we ordered the moules frites and the steak frites aquitaine. They were both alright, but nothing special. We were unimpressed and will most likely not come back again for dinner which is unfortunate because we were both big fans of the Aquitaine Dedham location that has recently closed.
Aquitaine food never disappoints. Excellent meal. Service was slow but overall meal was really enjoyable. Tables are spaced out and it felt so good to eat inside a restaurant again.
The food is delicious! And, it’s consistent. The server is outstanding, attentive, efficient and professional. Made us feel comfortable and relaxed. The cocktails were excellent.
maybe it was the day, not sure. seemed to have no mgt. we were seated immediately but waiting at least 20 minutes or more for service and then more to order. waitress didn't know question we had about menu.
food was given out cold.
maybe someone was having a bad day.
We arrived on time for our reservation, no host/hostess at the desk to greet us. We waited for several minutes and, eventually, a server came to the stand and took my information. He did NOT check us in via my Open Table reservation, which, I then, had to clarify later with Open Table (as they had no record of me having honored this reservation). We were seated near the bar area. Beautiful French bistro decor. Very noisy, as the phone was ringing repeatedly (and loudly), presumably for take out orders. Bread service was delicious, as were salad and escargot starters. Duck entree was delicious. Sole was nicely prepared although small portion. Burger had nice flavor but was a little dry. Upgraded fries to truffle fries, very good! Nice varied wine list, with good by the glass selections. Will definitely return but will request a table away from the phone.
Excellent service and wait staff. Food was delicious and price was reasonable.
Everything was well organized. Service was great. Food was delicious. I had the sole and my guest had the lamb special which was excellent. She remarked that it was not "gamey" at all. Will definitely go back.
It was cold in there. Waiter noticed we were a bit uncomfortable and cranked the thermostat for us! How nice! That’s the kind of stuff you can expect. Oh and don’t miss out on the truffle aioli, so good. Warm fresh bread etc what a night
The food is good and service is good too. The only things is the alcohols in the cocktail is less on the second and third glass.
Service was a pretty slow. We had empty drinks on the table for about 10-15 minutes. The lobster ravioli with mushrooms and shaved black truffles was served without the truffles. I had to ask for them and they were brought out on a small plate for me to put on. The food and drinks were good though. I’ll go back. I’m hopeful this was just an off night due to covid.
