We look forward to serving you.
Lovely evening - very pleasant, knowledgeable staff and fabulous food.
Overall amazing food and service. Highly recommend.
Everything was great the food and the staff were great.
food is delicious and beautifully present, service very friendly, attentive and efficient.
Amazing food! Had the halibut and the hamachi. Both amazing
Probably the best meal I’ve ever had in Connecticut. Congratulations.
Meal from apps to dessert was fabulous. The chicken liver dumplings were absolutely delicious. I also had the halibut entree which also was so so good. So many other dishes we want to try.
We have always had the best service you could ask for here, but on Wednesday night, our waitress was just ok. We waited over 35 min for dessert and during that time she never came to our table to explain why. Very disappointing!! Acted like it was our problem.
Wonderful food and service! Can’t wait to go again and try something different. Food was excellently prepared and absolutely delicious.
Went on a Sunday night. From the moment we walked in we were treated well. Staff were great in explaining the drink and food options. Given the great reviews, I expected a mis step. There were none. All the apps and mains were perfect. Scallops and salmon were cooked to perfection. Each item had its own flavor profile and didn’t take away from the protein. Manager was nice enough to warn me about the deer in the area. Can’t wait to return.
We've already recommended Arethusa to others. Consistently outstanding on all fronts. Creative, delicious food, super attentive staff without being overbearing, clean kitchen...they just knocked it out of the park (again).
Sorry for only giving it 4 out of 5 on the value metric. That's because I'm a cheap SOB. I will say that if you are going to pay a lot for a meal it better be memorable. I recently had a number of expensive meals in Napa at notable restaurants and was unhappy with all of them...Arethusa is memorable and I have never come away unhappy. Great job everyone.
This is the best restaurant in the area. The food, staff and service is above excellent. I have never been disappointed and we go there often. Brunch is especially good. Highly recommend.
My girlfriend and I came in on a busy Saturday night with reservations. My hope was that she would leave with me as my fiancée. I told the hostess my plan weeks in advance and she was very quick to accommodate anything I needed. When we arrived, the hostess took us to the best table in the house. Our waitress’ knowledge was unparalleled and I knew we were in good hands.
We had the large cheese board as an appetizer which was incredible. Every single sample was delicious and we wished we had a second board! For our main course my girlfriend chose the duck breast, and I went with the strip steak. We’ve traveled extensively but let me tell you, this was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. The phrase “melts in your mouth” comes to mind. The duck was equally astonishing. For desert we shared Pumpkin ice cream. We’re regular patrons of both Arethusa’s ice cream shop and coffee shop, and this was the best ice cream we’ve ever had!
On top of all the great food we ordered, the chef kept adding complimentary goodies to try. Totally creative, delicious and very bold. We loved it.
The service from the host to the food runners, the bussers to the the waitstaff, and the manager was superb. Everyone made their way to our table to converse, to help, and to show warmth and love throughout the evening. I can’t talk enough about how much it meant.
After dinner, I got down on one knee and popped the question. The room filled with maybe 80 people suddenly stood quiet. All that was left were several cute whispers and gasps. She of course said yes and we were accompanied by a round of applause! It was a moment we’ll remember for a lifetime.
We chose Arethusa because we knew they’d be there for us. They completely outdid themselves.
No highchair but we saw other table with their stroller but this is a small place. Food and service 5 stars!
Staff was helpful and friendly, food was outstanding . Loved everything about it. Can’t wait to go back and bring some friends
The best there is! Arethusa never disappoints and is always exemplary!
My husband and I celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary. From the moment we walked in I knew this was going to be especially awesome! It truly made me happy, The food raised the bar to Heaven!
Always delicious from beginning to end!
FAVORITE restaurant on the planet. Outstanding and beautiful food, lovely ambience, top notch service!
Gracious staff, lovely fresh ingredients, very small portions relative to true NYC prices in the middle of nowhere Connecticut! For example, my lobster/avocado appetizer ($25) very small portion, for really what the cost of an entree is.
Wonderful restaurant, excellent and inventive food, impeccable service. I would only go for a special occasion, as it is quite expensive, but no complaints. It is well worth it.
Amazing experience. I suggest previewing the menu on line because it is hard to decide. The deviled eggs are a great starter. The sweet corn ravioli was delicious. The tomato salad was simple and light allowing room for the chocolate dessert trio. We loved sitting outside soaking up the mid afternoon sun. Can’t wait to go back this winter. A real treat and worth the hour drive!
Arethusa is the perfect restaurant! The setting is airy and charming. The service is exceptional--the wait staff are personable, courteous, and knowledgable, and they coordinate perfectly with the kitchen. Every course arrives hot (if it should be) and at the right time. The food is creative yet approachable, and it incorporates the freshest ingredients. The black kale appetizer, for example, elevates that humble vegetable into something that I crave and would happily eat every day. The beef short rib in open celery root "ravioli" was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the jewel-like accompanying vegetables added just the right amount of tang and texture. My goal is to sample every dish on the menu! Arethusa is magic.
It was our 45th anniversary and it could not have been nicer. Extremely polite and attentive wait staff. Food was excellent and very interesting..not just the typical recipes of other very good restaurants. Very highly recommend it. It is not inexpensive but well worth the lunch.
Return visit. We were brought back by the outstanding food. We take our food very seriously and Arethusa does as well. The appetizers are especially imaginative and outstandingly delicious. Its easy for an entre to be over shadowed by the appetizer but this has not yet happened here. The service is very attentive without being over bearing. It's a rare restaurant that can provide such excellent food without taking itself too seriously. Arethusa manages it perfectly with excellent relaxed service. This place is worth the long drive we make to dine there.
Everything was superlative from the food to the drinks to the service to the little extras. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! A very special spot for a special occasion.
I had been looking very forward to this dinner and the food did not disappoint, however, our server was disappointing. He was not welcoming, he told a friend they did not have martinis ????? and when another friend told him her gin and tonic tasted flat, he told her it was a fresh bottle of tonic and did not offer to replace the drink until she insisted ... I tasted her drink, it was flat and it was NOT tonic, the replacement drink was! Everyone else besides our server was excellent, from the gentleman that delivered the water, the AMAZING bread, the amuse-bouche-(DELICIOUS mini cones with a creamy blue cheese and fig jam) and our dinners, they were all so pleasant and excited to be there serving us unlike our waiter.
Highlights- Bellini to start (house made peach puree!), Corn and Crab bisque with basil custard-outstanding and the Duck entree.
It was unfortunate that the amazing cuisine had to be overshadowed by a server that did not match the level of service I would expect for a place of this quality.
How thoughtful to greet us with a warm wish on our anniversary and written so beautifully in our dessert plates as well. Of course, the food is always delicious and the portions equally good, almost surprising given the quality of the food (it seems that other similar quality restaurants are not always as generous). Many thanks to all for a wonderful experience!
Everything was perfect.
Outstanding restaurant! Cannot recommend highly enough.
Excellent food and service! It is a bit loud with talking when the place is busy but that is the only thing I would say some people may have an issue with.
Excellent service and food.
Food was amazing! Can’t wait to go again!
You will not find a better restaurant in Litchfield County so don't bother looking. This is as good as it gets and compares favorably with virtually any of the top NYC dining spots. Care is taken with the preparation and presentation of every dish. The menu is creative without going over the top. Service high quality. The noise level is high, even though this was a Wednesday night and several tables were empty.
My family took me here to celebrate my birthday, I was greeted by the staff with a card wishing me a happy birthday and to thank me for sharing my day with them. The owner himself came over to see if everything was to our satisfaction. I have been going to this establishment for a few years now and I truly enjoy everything about the restaurant. A patron for life !!
Outstanding experience as usual! Second year in a row my husband requested Arethusa for his birthday dinner with friends! We love the food, staff, chefs, and the way we are always greeted by the owner!!! This restaurant always makes you feel like a wanted guest and always makes you want to come back. Thank you!!
This was our 2nd time visiting and while we enjoy the atmosphere, delicious cocktails and local food, the service is just not great. The bussers are wonderful, but the waitstaff (one waiter in particular who we had on both visits!) is not good. Not only did he just seem very aloof both times, but it took almost 30 minutes after our plates were clears to get and pay for our bill.
We live over an hour away, so after 2 mediocre experiences, I don't think we will be returning unless we are in the immediate area.
Fantastic cuisine and thoughtful service, as always. I particularly appreciate the meticulous attention to my food allergies and sensitivities.
Great food and service as always! Knowledgeable & courteous staff! Love the pretzel bread!!
