Always so good.
It took over an hour to get our main course. We had to rush through it to not miss the concert we had tickets for.
This review is based on the fact that we arrived and the restaurant was dark and closed. There was no sign saying this was an emergency, anyone was on vacation, or that the restaurant had new operating hours.
I haven't come here in years and was sorry i waited so long to return. We loved all the dishes and cleaned our plates
We had an open table reservation on a Tuesday night but when we arrived at Ariana, it was very dark and closed. So the rating is just based on that.
Insanely good authentic Afghan food. Super good for vegetarians and meat lovers. Really sweet and pleasant waiters. Will definitely be dining there again. 10/10 would recommend :))
This is not a fancy restaurant. In other words, not the place to take someone you want to impress. However, the service was lovely, the foods delicious and varied. It is a byo and very affordable. I would definitely go again for a casual meal. By the way, the eggplant was amazing
Wonderful food!! For vegetarians and meat-eaters alike.
the food was not what as good as i rememmber very poor.would not go back.
I was A loyal Kabul patron and since they close, I decided to give Ariana a try. I was very disappointed. Considering it’s basically a lot of the same food and the people that own it used to work with the people that had Kabul, I thought the food would be as good. We went last Saturday night and the restaurant was extremely hot and uncomfortable. Instead of opening the bottle of wine at the table it disappeared for about 10 minutes before it resurfaced opened up without the cork. Make sure you make them open the wine at the table. My chicken kebab and brown rice was just so-so. Again, I am comparing it to Kabul. Even the Ashak was somewhat tasteless. I will not be returning And feel very badly since Afghani food is probably my favorite cuisine.
Enjoyed a friendly greeting right as we walked in the door. As soon as we were seated, our drink orders were taken. When asked if we were ready to order, and weren't, our questions were answered warmly and with great knowledge and enthusiasm for the food. Once our order was taken, it was not long before the appetizer, aashak, arrived, looking delicious and elegant. The dumplings were delightfully light and flavorful, with a variety of pleasing textures and tastes. Salad came with the meal, with fresh, attractive vegetables and a tasty dressing. Soon, the entrees and bread were brought out and, again, we had another very pleasant interaction with the server, who is also one of the chefs. He was happy that we had questions and graciously answered them, providing some cultural background for the meal and explaining how the entrees were made. My friend had the norange palow, delicious and attractive, with tender pieces of lamb and orange zest strips soaked in rose water that made us swoon. I had the badenjan chalow, again with tender lamb and eggplant, also amazing. The meal was satisfying and filling, so much so that we didn't have room for dessert, although I was enchanted with the Turkish coffee, something I've longed to try. The aromas, appearance, and taste of the dishes carried us away to another land, and the impeccable service and calming ambiance, down to the low ethnic music, were conducive to conversation and relaxation. I was surprised that a meal and experience of this high quality was so reasonably priced. I can't wait to go back. Five stars!
The waiter was friendly, the food good to very good. This is a good restaurant for vegetarians.
Really good food
Ariana has AMAZING food. The ambiance is very authentic Afghan & the server’s are kind. My only complaint is how slow the service is. I think this might be a variance in culture but otherwise the food is amazing!
Great food, appropriate portions. Presentation could be improved. Ambience was not great and needs upgrading.
There was smoke coming from somewhere but could not see any smokers.
We stopped in for an early dinner (6:15PM) before a movie. My entree's description in the menu predicted eggplant, almonds, cashews, and raisins on a bed of rice. I received a large amount of rice with some eggplant buried underneath, a few slivers of almonds, no cashews, and raisins on top. My companion's entree consisted of a plate of rice with a bowl of cooked spinach that featured salt as the dominant spice. We were ignored after entrees were served. I had to knock on the kitchen door to get a worker's attention so we could receive and pay the bill. The food, service, and ambiance were mediocre.
This was the best restaurant in Phialdelphia. Service was amazing and food was worth what I payed for.
Delicious food, awesome service. Really low key restaurant that’s quiet and conducive to a nice dinner.
Food was delightful. Service was friendly. Everyone in my group loved it.
ironically, we planned to eat at Kabul, but they suddenly closed for business. Ariana has the same menu, same delicious food, and same prices. if you are a former kabul fan, just walk down the block to Ariana!
Great food, wonderful service, good space and affordable for friends get togethers. BYOB is a plus
Overall our experience at Ariana was good not great. Service was pleasant, food was good, but not memorable.
Enjoyed a quiet evening with friends, sharing the apps and the other dishes. Food is flavorful but not overly spiced; I’m imagining this is Afghani comfort food, as many of the main dishes are stews. Loved the bread served alongside. Restaurant becomes more lively after 8 pm. Saw one of the chefs making authentic saffron ice cream, which we’ll enjoy at another visit, as the dishes were filling.
Everything was amazing!!
I was on a first date and I picked the restaurant. He said he'd be up for trying something new, but then I got worried about the menu, however, he loved everything we ordered. Especially the lamb dish with lentils. He wants to go back soon, with me! Date went especially well because we got the Moroccan decorated window seat with the cushions. Very cozy and romantic. Don't forget it's a BYOB (no cork fee).
Quite and comfy ambience with smiling waiters and amazing food!! Always going back.
If your looking for a "chill" atmosphere, Ariana is perfect! The vibe is nice, food is excellent but don't expect good music while doing hookah...its a very layed back place but the food and hookah are exceptional. Prices are perfect! Very small place so def make reservations.
authentic and good food! place is not big but can usually accomodate on short notice.
Great! We frequently go to Ariana!
A nice meal was had. A family run restaurant that clearly cares about the food and service. Different cuisine that seemed a mix between Middle Eastern and east Indian. I enjoyed our meal. I would come back again.
Great food. Great service. Perfectly priced!
We celebrated a birthday and the staff was very kind to make sure we got good seats and prepared a cake too. Staff even accommodated music requests during the evening. Food was really good and great value for money. Staff friendly and responsive.
Good spot before or after the Arden theater. Not spicy.
I have dined here several times before and I have always enjoyed it. Last night I brought two newcomers, including someone who has not experienced Afghan cuisine before. She absolutely loved everything we ordered! My lentil soup was seasoned perfectly as were the other two appetizers and our entrees. We each ordered a lamb main dish and the lamb was tender and flavorful. I requested that my choice be made spicy and it did not disappoint.
Make a point of dining here as you will have a wonderful experience.
Enjoyed an interesting and unusual meal here. Would like to return.
Easy walk from waterfront area. Friendly warm atmosphere. Excellent ethnic cuisine. Reasonably priced and BYOB.
Food was pretty good. Table spacing is a bit tight.
The meal is so real!! We got salad, bread, main course.
The staff is friendly, informal, helpful.
The price is fair, choices numerous, etc.
Delicious food in a very pleasing setting. We would definitely go back. Service is leisurely but not lax. Looking forward to trying some other things on the menu on return.
Absolutely delightful Afghan restaurant walking distance to the Liberty Bell and other attractions. Authentic Afghan dishes, great service, and a warm and friendly environment.
