Try the Ravioli Aurora experience, sip the fantastic wines conveyed by charismatic staffers because in Arte our patrons are part of the family."
A warm, cozy restaurant in the classic NYC Italian style. We especially enjoyed the mushroom raviolis.
Food was so-so. Most of the wines from the wine list were not available. Waiter service was inattentive at best
Classic Italian, elegant, professional service. A little pricey maybe. Older crowd.
Great menu AND they will make you whatever!
We had our toddler grand daughter with us and they were so accommodating!
Food was generally very good, although one of the chicken dishes was overcooked. Took quite a long time to get our orders as, even though it was a Wednesday nite, restaurant was pretty full. We were having an enjoyable time so didn't care about that too much. What did concern us, was the uncomfortable noise level. Everybody had to shout to be heard.
AWFUL! Worst NYC dinning in 40 years. Had a confirmed reservation for 4 and were given a table for 2 t o which they added 2 chairs. Advertised as quiet, the noise level was uncomfortable. I ordered an Orvieto and the waiter brought out a cheap Pinot Gris and would have opened it if I hadn't questioned him. The chicken was so dry, it was inedible and my wife's pasta was a gummy mess. If I wasn't with my son and his wife, I would have sent it all back. I felt scammed by the write up in Open Table.
I would love to give more stars but I can’t because the restaurant was CLOSED!!!! Why on earth was I able to make a booking for five people if it wasn’t going to be open??
The best Italian restaurant in the city. They care so much about their customers, and their food, and you walk out happier than you walked in always. Wilson is also the most incredible manager, and he knows how to make you feel like you've been transported to Italy.
I’ve eaten at arte many times. Usually perfect Food is always good etc. But the other night we were seated in the garden area (lovely place to sit ). The waiter charged us for a fish special when we ordered off the main menu.
We were also ignored most of the meal. I had to argue to get the check adjusted. The manager- owner knew what happened and didn’t take charge of the situation. He never came over to our table to apologize etc. when we left we told him the waiter was rude and he said sorry and he would make it up to us next time. No next time
Would definitely recommend Arte to colleagues and friends
I selected Arte as I needed a quiet restaurant near the East Village for a business dinner. We were seated all the way in the back and it indeed was very quiet, even for a Saturday night. All of the appetizers and mains we had were very good. Not a destination restaurant by any means, but a very good choice for noise level and location. My actual review is 3.75 stars.
I always visit Arte when I’m in the city. Always great. The food is superb and the service is excellent. Highly recommend!
The food was very good. My only comment would be that it is overpriced. The frinkd were outro.
Wonderful food and lovely atmosphere and service
Always outstanding. We eat there weekly.
Arte is a neighborhood treasure! It's a charming place with lovely service and fabulous food.
We love our waiter Roberto. He made Easter Dinner even more wonderful.
The restaurant was quite noisy. The food was mediocre and took a long time to come from the kitchen. The Caesar salad was tired looking and not very inventively presented. The grilled Branzino was good but the Veal Marsala was too salty.
Great neighborhood restaurant with top notch Italian cuisine. The black linguini pasta is one of my favorites. I highly recommend Arte for all types of occasions. Thank you Martino for a wonderful time as always.
Good neighborhood eats. Fresh food prepared daily. Service was very good.
This is an excellent place for dining with friends or alone.
I had been to Arte many times before and had always received excellent service. This time, however, the server was not very polite and made our visit less enjoyable.
We live nearby but hadn’t been here in a few years because we had a couple of occasions of bad service back then. We decided to give it another try and are glad we did. The food was excellent. I had stuffed mushrooms for the first course and my wife had eggplant rollatini. Main courses were Dover sole and veal chop. For dessert we shared an excellent tiramisu. The service was attentive throughout. Upon leaving, we thanked the staff and mentioned to the maitre d that we had a couple of bad experiences a couple of years in the past with a particular waiter. He said “You should have told me. Someone like that can’t work here.”
After this meal we will certainly be back and probably on a regular basis.
Sub-par food with a wait staff that was hard to get menus from.
Arte is a consistent and reliable restaurant in the Village for many years. The working fireplace and impeccable service add to a pleasing ambience. The food, varied and delicious, is prepared to please the diner. Arte is an all around success that has stood the test of time.
We were first to arrive at 5:30pm on Friday night, but the place filled up quite quickly. It's beautiful, classic Greenwich Village setting, but not a place for quiet conversation, mostly because all the customers seem to be "regulars" who either know each other or know the staff, which is nice, but distracting and often noisy. The food was not terribly inventive and somewhat mediocre, especially for the price. I had the Frutte de Mare in which there was mostly calamari, one small shrimp and a few clams all in a very bland sauce and served with pieces of burnt toasted bread. My friends had the risotto and the veal, which they both said they enjoyed. The sabayon dessert is prepared at the table, which is fun to watch, but not terribly impressive to taste. The wait staff, were all very attentive and friendly. Not sure if we'll go back.
I love arte. It's always fresh and delicious abe the perfect local gem.
Outstanding food and service Reasonably priced. Appertizers perfect size. Best octopus I ever had. Entrees full of flavor
No wonder has this place been around for a long time. It is nothing shiny, but cozy and comfortable. The tables are far apart which allow for a private conversation. The scallops were tender, combined with the red beet, simply amazing. The pasta was fresh and cooked perfectly al dente. The waiter knew the specials by heart and everyone was very attentive and friendly. We didn't get rushed out. It was a truly enjoyable dinner experience
Neighborhood Italian, old school. Working fireplaces in at least two of their dining rooms in winter. Classic Italian fare. Lots of specials every night. Not hip, trendy. Reliable, professional, well-run place in which you can effortlessly hear your dining companions.
Excellent food, service, and old world charm. To end our meal, we asked for a special dessert, strawberries with zabaglione, and it was made table-side without hesitation. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Was there on Christmas Eve. Most disappointing. Food was just awful. Yes it was busy being Christmas Eve but the service and attention to our dining was overlooked. Was there years ago and now remember why I didn’t return.
Simply wonderful as always. The food is exceptionally well prepared and specials are always interesting. This is one of the every fewer number of NY restaurants where one can carry on a conversation without shouting.
It gets better every day
First time visitor from UK. Had a fantastic night, superb food and service. Highly recommended
The owner was very nice- the food was delicious and the waiter(s) very warm and friendly.
We enjoyed everything- and my 26 year old son- gave it thumbs up!
We will def be back - he ives around the corner from the restaurant....
We made a reservation for 7:15. Then called at 710 to postpone reservation to 730 and confirm there were no issues, restaurant said yes. When we arrived at 730 there were 20 people waiting at the restaurant, including people who had made reservations as early as 645. We were told there would be an hour wait and that this was all unexpected even though there were people waiting as early as 645 and we had called to confirm reservation and they said no problems. Further when people were calling to make reservations for 745 etc, the hostess kept on saying they had tables available even though we had the ridiculous wait. I think the restaurant was taking advantage of the fact that it was really cold so that when people arrived they couldn't leave but would just wait. Absolutely abysmal unprofessional experience, I will recommend against this restaurant everywhere.
