Asha's Manchester
very friendly staff, great service, fantastic food, great price. we were a group of six and we all enjoyed the experience. highly recommended.
It was a birthday dinner. Food was nice and atmosphere are good too. Services were helpful and they gave us a complimentary happy birthday cheesecake as a surprise. The only thing was that the birthday surprise took a bit too long to come, we were quite tired at that point and wanted to go.
Don’t park at the car park at northern gate, just park on the street if you are going for dinner, there are plenty of paid and display.
Fantastic food and great Cocktails. Staff were great and very helpful.
Came for my anniversary and the food was amazing but the service and atmosphere was anything but. The decor is very nice but the service let down the whole experience. There was only one waiter who came over and was friendly and polite, however, the FOH and others could’ve been more welcoming.
We booked late afternoon so it wasn’t busy but food was really good, we chose the pre theatre menu, good value.
Very nice food, good atmosphere. We had to wait a bit long to order our drinks
The service was very slow. The waiter was unhelpful when one of our party wanted a milder curry.
Unfortunatly our first visit to Ashas wasn't the best. I'd been recommened by a friend that the food was fantastic, overall quality of food was very good.
What was disappointing was the service. We were met at the door by a customer venting his disappointment to the manager over his experience, not the best thing to be greeted with, but I suppose couldn't have been helped.
Starter was served before the popadoms !, when I queried that they arrived and we had with the starter.
Main Course - hot plates arrived, looking good, only for no food to arrive for 5-6 minutes, so I asked for the plates to be changed.
Bill - I was waiting 10-15 minutes for the bill, as my taxi was outside I put my coat on and had to walk over and ask for the bill.
All things that can happen in restaurants, however if you're going to set your prices as high as Ashas, you'd expect much more. Doubt we'll go again as I generally get better service in indian restaurants who charge 1/2 as much as Ashas
Regards
Lovely place, food is fabulous.
Waiting on staff are always so polite and friendly.
Wont be the last time we visit
We visited Ashas on Saturday 23rd November. The food was excellent and was great value for money we went for the pre theatre option, and the portion sizes were very large. However the service was appalling the attention to detail was missing it was very quiet when we visited not many tables occupied but it still took a long time to be served, and the waiters were not very tentative we had to get up several times to go find the waiter to ask for additional drinks and the desert menu. The only reason I would go back is the food was excellent but very poor service.
Nice restaurant, nice food. Didn’t like being sent downstairs to a bar that wasn’t open to wait until table was ready. Quite expensive.
We felt that we was being rushed from the moment we got to the table, we hadn’t sat down & was being asked for what we’d like to drink. We was put on a relatively small table even though we ordered the emperor’s platter.
Lunch was excellent value for money, good variety and beautiful atmosphere
Staff were extremely helpful and attentive
Waiter bought me a luvly birthday cake
Staff is friendly . Food was delicous .no compalint .good service .over all 10/10😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Food excellent as always. Staff attentive, atmosphere relaxed. Busy for what is traditionally a quiet night - Monday.
I’ve been wanting to try This restaurant for a while and I wasn’t disappointed at all, the food was amazing fresh, hot and the presentation was beautiful, the service was superb, we would definitely recommend to our friends and family!
Nice atmosphere and decor but a few little issues let this place down. Although the waiters were quite attentive they seem to struggle to get our orders right, I think it was a communication issue between staff. Firstly we were offered popodoms and dips with our drinks while we looked at the menu - the drinks arrived fine but no popadoms then the waiter arrived to clear the popadoms ready for our starters, we informed him we hadn’t had any, he apologised and went off to get some which then turned up with the starters ! Not really a big issue. The rest of the food came ok and was very nice but there was then another issue with the coffees where we didn’t get what we ordered, again the waiter apologised and sorted it out no problem. We then paid the bill and went down to the bar area for a couple of drinks were we had a few more issues with the service not getting what we ordered. Also the barman tried to charge over £60 for a drinks order that was just over £20. All these little things were sorted out without any fuss but so many little mistakes just left us feeling a little bit underwhelmed with our experience here, such a shame really as we have eaten here before and really enjoyed it
We’ve been to Ashas’s a number of times and seem to keep giving them more opportunities than they deserve. Not sure how they manage to stay in business charging double the normal price for, at best, average food.
Perhaps it would be understandable if the service was good but it’s not. They are staffed by embarrassingly over enthusiastic waiters, who are actually basically useless. We were seated at a table in front of the disabled toilets (not a nice smell or sight), so my wife asked to be moved. Instead of giving us a nice table in the back of the restaurant we were shoehorned into an un-laid table in the cold, overpopulated front of the place. After being seriously overpriced, they have the cheek to add on 10% service!
Honestly, don’t waste your money or time - there are far more reasonably priced places to eat better food in Manchester. I think we’ve learned our lesson this time...
It was disappointing that we couldn’t order from the small plates menu after receiving an email about this offer. However, the food we ordered from the pre-theatre menu was delicious and plentiful and the staff were very attentive.
Fantastic meal. Extremely accommodating for our 4year old. Fabulous Service and amazing food.
I received an email on the 21st October about the £10 thali offer the email stated clearly it was available on sundays so I booked a table to 2, on arrival there was a board displaying the offer.
After we were seated I asked about the offer only to be told the email was a mistake and the offer had been changed to weekdays only, then why have the board outside on the pavement with the offer shown on a Sunday I asked they said it does say on one side, as I had approached the restaurant from deansgate I had no reason to check the reverse of the board to see the small print.
So then we tried to order for the menu opened at the page for light bites again this was not available.
The food £20 for 4 prawns though nice I thought very expensive.
Needless to say it’s not a great marketing ploy to get customers in through misleading menus, will not be going back or recommending.
Been loads of times to ashas, this time was very poor, I will not return, no one took our coats, so we had to hang them in the back of our chairs! So then your left with a coat that smells! Curries just tasted of tomato soup and were not spicy at all. Then we waited 15 mins for someone to get the bill and another 15 minutes to pay! Absolutely terrible service. The restaurant wasn’t even that busy so you don’t even have that as an excuse.
Every time we stay in Manchester we try and book Ayshas . Food always fab , ambiance lovely , staff excellent . Indian food with a twist .... highly recommend
I am writing in order with the honest feedback to improve your services. 1st of all i reserve my table online for the time and expected to move to my table but unfortunately they asked me to head to bar because the table wasnot ready i waited in bar almost 30mins.
When i got the table i expected to have for 2 prople as it was dinner date on saturday night but they gave me for 4 people.
What came worse the food we ordered 2 items were not cooked properly (naan prshawari, makhni daal)
Service was poor as i remind the waiter 2 times about papadom and 3 times about coco cola. To my surprise the waiter i reminded about drink was much busy talking with others and keep forgetting us. If its busy i can understand but better service could have been provided. Thanks
Been many times and as always top class! Service from start to finish is the best.
Despite booking the table and the restaurant being 50% full, I had to wait for 15 minutes to get a table.
Service: Poor
The waiters just ignored as if we didn't exist. Finally, we got the table. The waiter seemed disinterested in serving. Gave us the menu and I started to look for drinks. There weren't any so had to ask again for the drinks menu. I thought you would give the menus together or at least ask us for any drinks as in a normal restarurant.
Food: Okayish
I ordered a Dum Gosht Biryani which is a lamb biryani and should have been pretty good to taste but was below average. The chef had probably taken lamb pieces out of the lamb curry and put it as a layer at the bottom and filled with rice on the top. It wasn't anywher near to a normal Dum Biryani. My friend ordered a Veg Biryani and he too had got the same, curry with rice rather than a normal biryani.
Service: Again poor
I asked specifically before I ordered if they served 'Raita' with the biryani. It was a prompt - 'Yes, that's included'
Waited for 5 minutes after the biryanis were served without any Raita. Again asked the waiter if they served raita and he said oh sorry I forgot to bring it and then finally got it.
Overall:
There is no match between the price you pay and the service or the food quality you are getting at Asha's.
The only good thing about the whole experience was the ginger mango lassi which was extremely good.
Would not go there back again. It might be the people in the restaurant were having a bad day or I should have ordered something else. Considering the price that they are charging, I am better off spending my money somewhere else.
The food was excellently described by Ciara, excellently presented and fabulously tasty
Pleasantly busy for mid week. Great food and interesting cocktails.
Disappointed by poor vegetarian choice and high prices. But food was good, tasty and decent portions. Personally I try to avoid anywhere that serves lobster.
Excellent food and service by staff.
We had the 6 course taster menu with paired wines and it was lovely. We were more than full by the time we left.
The staff were lovely and the food delish!
Had a fantastic time at Ashas would highly recommend
Had pre theatre dinner menu It was outstanding and fantastic value for money food was awesome
Pre dinner drinks served by Gabrielle was outstanding fantastic behind bar personality
Everything was perfect
Can’t wait to go back
Understanding it was supposed to be a classy restraurant, i imagined everything to be perfect. The food was good (had better at a normal restrarant), but overpriced for the portions. We had to wait a while to get our final bill, the service charge was added to the bill at 10%, however there was no service. No chocolates or wet towels where provided with the bill. Owning to the name if the restraurant the standard was not on par.
Having dined at Asha’s several times before I found this visit to compare badly. Being welcomed as « guys » feels inappropriate for the expected level in this restaurant as well as not being asked if we would like our coats taken. Although we were offered Polaroid and water the latter never came and after a long time I had to find a waiter to take our order. The starter was overall good although the main course was not as I remembered it from previous visits. We chose the pre theatre menu but because the service was so poor we were five minutes late for our play and they wouldn’t let us in. So I have to say the whole evening was spoiled. I certainly won’t be back sadly as it seems it has gone done hill.
Dear Harveysingh123, Thank you for your detailed feedback. I have already conveyed your comments to our Operations Team. Could you please drop me an email on harshit.chopra@ashasmanchester.co.uk with your contact details, so we can reach out to you for further feedback. Apologies, Team Asha’s
It wasn’t as expected. The food was so expensive, considering the portion sizes and taste - it was just like my Indian takeaway at home but over double the price. The waitress Ciara was brilliant, but she was the only one rushed off her feet whilst her 6 male colleagues stood around and give her orders the entire time. She did a fantastic job considering the pressure she was under!
Second time we have dined there and once again everything (ambience, service and food) was excellent. When we are next in Manchester we will definitely come again. In the meantime we intend to try your new restaurant in Solihull (much nearer for us!).
Food very good, service a little slow despite the restaurant being very quiet when we arrived. I think it was a case of when the restaurant is quiet, waiters get on with other tasks and overlook the fact that diners need to be looked after. Just a case of tweeking the management method.
Excellent food and service
I've been here a few times. Lovely restaurant with great food.
Did have difficulties contacting restaurant to tell them we were running late, but they still managed to accommodate us.
Our second visit to Ashas and it didn’t disappoint 😊
