Lovely restaurant only downside was the fact they never got our opentable reservation? but we got a table anyway luckily! Also, another annoyance were the waiters that were circling our table like sharks... a little too much! We were trying to have a private conversation...
Food is great here though!
Very good but very expensive and waiters push you to spend.
Food is excellent. Service was very poor. I think ever since Simone left the place is not the same. We waited 45min/1hr for our main course.
Best tuna tartare I have had!!!
food was good. but poor service.
they didnt pay attention the table, not enough staff. Poor service cannot be allowed in this price range.
Amazing fish and very authentic cooking style from southern Italy
Food was excellent, service atrocious. I order an Aperol Spritz, which is supposed to have prosecco in it. The drink arrives and is not quite right but they are seldom the same from restaurant to restaurant. It depends on which proseco is used . I ask for a glass of prosecco to taste the prosecco on its own and am told "we dont serve prosecco here". An Italian restaurant that does not serve prosecco!
I ask kater for a glass of Pinot Grigio with my main course - my guests are drinking red wine - and after ten minutes, when my food is nearly finished - the Pinot Grigio has not arrived. I ask again and am told "we dont serve Pinot Grigio here". An Italian restaurant that does not serve Pinot Grigio, worse, they couldnt be bothered to tell you that they dont serve it, they leave you with nothing.
this was the second time i came here and i was less happy than the first time. the mixed fish carpaccio starter we shared was quite tastless and uninspiring in presentation and how the fish was sliced.
main course seabass in salt crust for two ended up being half of a large one prepared for four. it was quite nice but last time i had it, it was £40/head and now £45/head but the portion was smaller.
the wine list also seems to have gotten heavier in the very expensive wines and lesser choice in reasonable segement.
service was a bit too casual and had to consistently ask to have the wine poured, but a nice touch they did take back and prepare a new espresso while my date was in the ladies.
overall still a good meal but certainly is now far removed from value for money probably explaining that it was not full on a saturday night.
Long way to go to be at the level of other restaurants
Food average and not at par with the Italian standard I am used to
A fiend referred Assunta Madre to my Boyfriend and I so we decided to give it a go after passing by many times before. I must say it was a wonderful experience, from the moment you walk in to the door you are kindly greeted in Italian, then their fresh fish stand calls your attention and the waiters help you pick your fish and finally seat you at your table. We decided to le the manager bring some dishes to share of his choice. We had langoustine tartar and tuna carpaccio which were both sublime, literally melting in your mouth, then he brought us some gnocchi with red shrimp, cherry tomatoes and pecorino cheese, the taste was perfect, it was just the right balance to taste the flavour of the red prawns, he then finished us off with some Sea bass cooked in salt crust and some roast potatoes, the fish was cooked perfectly and the seasoning on the potatoes was delicious. We will definitely be coming back very soon!
We did book at last minute and we did get an amazing welcome even if it was a the end of the evening.
Our starter was a langoustine carpaccio and Assunta Madre Plateu, just amazingly well prepare both dishes. You can tell the difference from Mediterranean Fish and Ocean once.
Wild Sea Bass in Sea Salt Crust was so delicate and delicious, very well garnish with Italian Roasted Potatoes.
Service was friendly and impeccable
For sure I will come back again and I recommend 100%
I made a dinner reservation for 4 people at Assunta Madre using OpenTable a month ago and as well as the confirmation upon booking, I also received the usual reminder a couple of days prior to the date. The same day we were supposed to go, I called the restaurant as we wanted to add two people to the reservation, only to be told that there was no reservation under my name. At my surprise, the restaurant stated that they no longer worked with OpenTable and had already informed them to be deleted from their list. The restaurant was very kind and tried to accommodate my booking request but could not offer any suitable alternatives. They also said it was not the first time such an unfortunate event had happened.
I wonder what the reliability of OpenTable is given the above: had I not called the restaurant, I would have shown up for dinner with no table available.
Having had previous excellent impressions on various occasions, this was a let down. The fish was not quite as evidently fresh as before, and service was unusually erratic, and slow.
Still a good experience, one can only hope this is a one-off situation, and temporary.
We had the best oysters - bar none - we've had in London, as well as stunning seabass carpaccio, lobster pasta and fritto misto. Would be back in a hearbeat. Better for groups as their larger tables are better, but still worth going in any situation.
Great seafood, great service and great ambience. Will go often if I have deeper pockets
Really good restaurant, excellent food, super service and nice atmosphere. My wife and I love it.
Ridiculously overpriced. Very poor value for money. Average food with prices higher than a lot of Michelin starred restaurants! Will not be going back here.
Assunta madre is a fantastic restaurant. Food , service and ambiance are great.
I had red prawns carpaccio and trofie posta with seabass and lemon.
I went to Assunta Madre a few days with my family and it was a total disaster.
the wine prices are exceptionally high (lowest price is around 70 pounds for a bottle) and the food was tasteless .
it was the worst dining experience i had in london.
