Fabulous evening with friends, food was very tasty and great standard
Wonderful meal! The food is beautifully presented and tastes amazing.
Service was excellent, staff were efficient as well
As being friendly and helpful
at the end of the meal the waiting staff disappeared and we had to go and find them to pay the bill. I don't expect this at this level of restaurant. Food was excellent
Absolutely beautiful setting with delicious food and the most spectacular wine flight! Thank you!
Lovely place. We had the tasting menu without wine. The food was excellent apart from the meat which was ruined by using the dreadful water bath cooking method, rendering the meat tasteless and over cooked. Everything else was perfect but just beware eating lamb or beef. I didn’t try the pork.
One of the best Sunday lunches we had had in ages with a wonderful setting and good service. What more could one ask for.
Lovely evening and we will definitely return again.
An outstanding restaurant in terms of food, setting, and service. The set menus are inexpensive for this standard but you can spend a lot on drinks. On this occasion we had the three course set lunch at £29.50 each - with a Prosecco at £11.50, non-alcohol drink at £8.50 , then coffee and tip the bill came out at £96. I have eaten at quite a few Michelin stars restaurants over the years and Auberge du Lac is in that league. Presentation, flavour, and texture as you would expect.
I attended Auberge Du Lac for Sunday Lunch on 5th May 2019 with my husband and parents as part of my 60th birthday celebrations. Everything from our arrival to departure was wonderful. The service was excellent and the food beautiful. The lounge where we took pre lunch drinks was lovely and the dining room overlooking the lake second to none. I would like to mention one member of the team in particular - Emma - who was so friendly and helpful. She really couldn't do enough for us and made us feel so welcome. We will definitely be returning sooner rather than later.
We were given a warm welcome and shown to an outside seating area, with a view across the lake towards the hall. where we sat and enjoyed our aperitifs - a heater was switched on to ensure that we were not chilly. Just the right period elapsed after choosing our food and drink when we shown to our table which benefitted from the same view across the lake. We found the quality of the food to be first rate - beautifully cooked and presented - and the wine was exactly to our taste. The restaurant was fairly full but there was a pleasant genteel atmosphere and we were unhurried and felt able to relax. The value of the food was excellent, the drinks slightly less so, but overall a delightful experience - and one which we hope to repeat.
Lovely restaurant, food was amazing, staff attentive but not intruding will definitely be coming back
Fabulous location, staff are knowledgable and very attentive.
Food is great too.
All in all, a splendid experience
I think the restaurant has enormous potential. It just needs to do 2 things: 1. Perfect the detail. 2. Add some creativity/flair to the tasting menu. 2 salads with cheese was a tad repetitive, smoked pigeon breast was way overcooked but the scallop was great. Desserts were inventive and tasty and wine list needs a bit more content in the mid range.
All those things can be fixed quite easily thus making the restaurant a destination place.
Superb service - adapted menu for Vegan diner - no rush to finish and clear explanation of different courses - great experience and massive step up from a few years ago when the service wasn’t brilliant - definitely a good choice for a special occasion
A wonderful venue for a family group meet-up. As my in-laws have difficulty walking, a golf buggy drove them down from the front entrance to the patio beside the lake. A fabulous start to a delightful meal. I recommend the Rhubarb Martini as an aperitif! Everyone was delighted with their menu choices and particular care was taken for our two Gluten Free diners, even substituting desserts from the A la Carte menu onto the fixed price one at no additional charge. We expect to return soon, thank you.
Booked for Table d'Hote menu. Greeted with glass of champagne and delicious canapes. The three course meal was mouthwatering and well presented. Service and setting impeccable
A perfect dining experience. Attentive and friendly service, delicious vegan food, a quiet, outside table overlooking the lake - there is nothing I would change. I will look forward to dining here again. Very happy to give 5 stars.
lovely intimate dinner for two, using the mid-week offer (although water and drinks did up the price considerably)
the only thing that spoiled it (although within their dress code) was the sole diner on his phone, wearing t-shirt and trainers that arrived half way through our main course.
Terrific food and ambience. Good wine too.
I was dining with friends and we all enjoyed a warm welcome on arrival, our choices were taken in a timely manner and the food was delicious
Food & service were first class and great value associated to the Ladies lunch. Outside on the veranda, lucky with a sunny day, set us up with pre drinks overlooking the splendour of Brocket Hall. Only down is the slightly tired interior of the main restaurant.
Took my husband for lunch as part of my retirement celebrations and it was lovely from pre dinner drinks in the lounge, lunch in the conservatory and coffee on the terrace. The staff were very attentive and helpful but not intrusive and the set lunch menu was great value for money - who thought you could spend 2.5 hrs at lunch!!!
Would definitely be returning
An excellent day out. Great food and service in a beautiful location. Will definitely be going again!
I've been coming to the Auberge for about 20 years so pre Novelli and Phil Thomson and am happy to say I have never had a bad meal (either set lunch or a la carte) and am happy to see the "Ladies' Lunch" back on the menu. It's very good value for money with attentive staff (but not too over the top)
and outstanding views across the Lake to the Hall. It never disappoints.
Ambience excellent, service very good, food disappointing, meat tough and tasteless. The one thing I remember from years gone by was how tasty the food was.
Went for a birthday celebration and there were a few other birthday celebrations on the same day. The food was excellent and the lunch menu is very good value for money. The wine list, on the other hand, even though a good selection is very steep on the pocket. Most wines are over £40-£45 and it would be nice to see a decent wine with a price range of £25.00+. There should also be more 'wine by the glass' offered for us drivers who only want one glass of wine. Otherwise, food and service excellent - will definitely return soon.
With stunning views over the lake, set in a beautiful old house and delicious food, the Auberge du Lac is a delight! It’s an exceptional treat. You don’t just for the food but for the whole fine dining experience.
Amazing from start to finish. Amazing service. Great food. What a venue
The welcome could be more engaging! Food was 'OK'. Pork slightly overcooked. Beef, slightly undercooked. Great ambiance and surroundings.
From the moment we were dropped off the staff at Auberge made us welcome, comfortable and were attentive without being pushy. The food was delicious and the surroundings excellent for a special meal
Excellent, food was incredible as was the service, attention to detail and the view out over the estate.
Amazing Lunch , food so well prepared, service attentive, I would recommend the Auberge Du Lac to anyone, do you know that you can hire the Auberge Du Lac for a Private party or a Wedding, amazing.
Had a lovely evening at the venue, staff were very friendly and the service was excellent, the front of the house were very attentive without being intrusive made us feel very welcome.
The food was outstanding and good value, will definitely be going back again.
Ate from the set menu. Food was delicious although portions on the small side. Beautiful setting. Very relaxing. Service was excellent. Recommend.
All very nice, staff very helpful, lovely setting and building. Restaurant is slightly soulless though and lacks a bit of atmosphere. Food was superb as was the service.
We have been to Auberge du Lac at different time of the year and the service have always been amazing. Even during the busy Christmas period the staff has always been very friendly.
Fabulous service and food
Lovely way to spend a Thursday lunchtime
Will be back soon
Our local favourite. Was nice to meet Head Chef. We'll be returning soon.
Have already recommended to friends. The place is pure quality, from the moment we walked in, the service and the food all class. The staff were all in good spirits, friendly and happy to help with any minor request. The food was amazing, we could not fault a thing. We really enjoyed our evening and we will definately return.
A really nice table for 4 people in one of the private rooms. I recommend this restaurant highly.
Go for the Watershyppes – Up to 4 guests- thats the one we had
Study - Up to 5 guests not sure if I was shown this one.
Willow – Up to 8 guests I was shown this and this one and it overlooks the lake and is also really nice
Joseph Perrier Suite – Up to 10 guests - nice for a meeting but a bit sterile with a TV at the end.
Boardroom – Up to 18 guests really nice for a large celebration in the evening as the windows are small and high up so no view.
