Auberge du Pommier
Overall, we were really hoping to enjoy this place. We chose the tasting menu.
The good - service was excellent, ambience was nice and desert was great.
The not so good - for a place with such a reputation for quality food, ironically, the food was the underwhelming part. The beef course was especially disappointing. Not sure what cut of beef was served, but it was way to chewy and we both tried a couple of bites before giving up. The fish dishes were just ok, and overall nothing really stood out. The desert was the best part of the meal. Unfortunately we had to sit through all the other dishes beforehand.
Bottom line - We will not go back anytime soon. Perhaps the tasting menu was just the wrong choice.
We were sitting in the room adjacent to the patio which was beautiful. Service was very good. While the food was beautifully presented it was lukewarm at best. That was very disappointing. We were celebrating, so no one wanted to complain and ruin the mood. The dining chairs were so old they were threadbare and very uncomfortable. We chose Auberge because we wanted a truly fine dining experience not a mediocre, expensive evening.
Dining experience is excellent as always, the dishes were all a little over season during this visit though, a bit too salty for my palate.
I was really looking forward to the experience and while the ambience and service were great, the food was mediocre.
One of the best meals I ever had, my favourite restaurant in Toronto by far!
When our order was sent to the wrong table, our server told us we would get new "plated" orders. 2 minutes later, our order. Was it a new order?
I also liked the "business casual". Our neighbour had on sweat pants and the other table had on a ball hat. Not the "fine" dinging we hoped for.
We don't get out often for special meals kid free and this was a terrific evening top to bottom. The evening flew by in the best not rushed way. Food was fantastic, service attentive, ambiance lovely.
My friend and I began to have our annual birthday celebration at the Auberge when it was a significant birthday for each of us. Now we won't settle for anywhere else, and damn the numbers! At least you only bring us one candle apiece to blow out! Always a pleasure.
The staff was very friendly as well as very attentive. We asked what their recommendation was between 2 items on the menu, and they were spot on. We asked for a suggestion on the wine list based on personal preference and once again, it was exactly what we were looking for.
We will definitely be back again.
Lovely experience and relaxing environment. Nothing bad to say about it.
Absolutely amazing as always! Great service, amazing food and amazing wine!
The only comment I have was the server who server us.
No courtesy to follow up our meal. All he does was delivered our lunch in the table and never return until we ask for a check. I am not sure if the is part of the restaurant culture or just individual. From my personal point of view, this is a customer service should be, especially in a fine dining restaurant.
Although we have paid him the above average gratuity is because we respect the restaurant, and the outstanding food from the culinary team made for us. If to the server as individual, it wasn't not worth it at all.
If you're looking for a restaurant with a typical French ambiance, then this is the place to go. Knowledgeable and very courteous staff. I had a lovely evening with our guests.
Outstanding! This place never disappoints. Everything is 5 star.
The food as always was outstanding. We had the walleye fish and it was so tasty and perfectly cooked. The accompanying sides were fabulous as well. The sommelier was really excellent. He was so personable and provided such a truly outstanding wine recommendation. The wine and the main course paired perfectly and really enjoyed the wine just for sipping. Do take advantage of his skills. The weak spot was service by our waiter. It was OK but you had to reminder him of your requests like refilling water glasses other things took forever. Normally service is outstanding but I would only rate the service this time as average.
Very poor service
I made this reservation for my sister and daughters to have a special lunch. They reported that the food was superb, the surroundings lovely and the service "next level". Well done!
We were seated and ordering when the restaurant called to see if we were coming.
We noted it was for a birthday when we made the reservation but the restaurant did not recognize it.
Ordered gin and tonic and vodka tonic as cocktails and were served with a ginger tonic. A heads up and choice would have been nice.
Got seated at 6:00 pm, arrived early
Main course served at 8 pm!
Menu and chef recently changed
Very little food on plate
Vegetables are offered in foam form
Beef was undercooked and tough
Lamb was served in 2 tiny pieces on plate
Service was slow and cold
We have been to Auberge for business and pleasure several times
A truly special dining experience!
A great place to celebrate. The staff are attentive and considerate, the food is fantastic and the ambiance is perfect. We will be back. Highly recommended.
Wonderful place to enjoy dinner. Auberge du Pommier never disappoints.
We did the tasting menu with wine pairing.
Very expensive but had a dinning experience that will not be fir gotten.
Service is exceptional.
Exception service. Formal when needed and relaxed at the same time. Chef was great. Requested seared foie gras instead of parfait and no problem
Amazing beef. Excellent wine list bottles plus by the glass. Unlike downtown restaurants there is plenty of room between tables so it is like a dinner for two albeit with many other diners in the room
Will be back
Ambience and service are excellent. Menu was very limited and not varied. Taste of food was fair. Not up to the usual standard of excellence we were used to. A noisy group was seated immediately next to us which did not allow us to have our own conversation and enjoy the meal. A large group of young people should be placed in another room so as not to disturb the other guests.
The server let us tried different wine to make sure we have the right one to pair with our dishes.
Great French restaurant. Consistently wonderful food. Love coming here. Will alway return!
for a restaurant referring to the french gastronomy, no service in french was proposed, the dishes were insignificant without any relation with their calls. Only the kindness of the server, could prevent us from getting up and leave.
We had the tasting menu and it was well thought out with nine beautifully presented and tasting dishes. Some of my favourites were the tartare (the dijon icecream was unique), the agnolotti (pasta cooked to perfection) and the walleye (loved the texture of the crunchy peas).
The menu is a modern take on French cuisine which combines seasonal flavours, local produce and winning flavour combinations.
The service was fantastic and attentive. I would not hesitate to come back again for a delicious night.
Lovely. Expensive but we knew that going in. But food & atmosphere was fabulous.
My wife and I have been going to ADP since before we were married. In fact, we booked the entire restaurant for our marriage ceremony and reception back in 2010, and have been going to dinner there every anniversary since. All in all, we've been coming to ADP no less than once a year for nearly 15 years. Ideally this should illustrate how worth it it is to dine here.
Auberge du Pommier never disappoints. Food is always delicious and top-notch service.
The most refined and elegant dining spot, for lunch or dinner, in Toronto. Consistently excellent food, service, and especially the ambience. A big WOW!
Stunning ambience. Clean and tidy and beautifully decorated around the theme of the beauty of France. Menu items were delicious and the service was prompt, on-point and courteous/friendly. Loved how upscale it was and the noise level was light chatter and professional. Only things I didn’t love was that some of the food portions could have been larger and some price tags on menu items were a bit too high for what they were ($12 for coffee...really??)
I spent a great time with my guests who are my dearest friends. I was glad we chose Auberge Du Pommiera again..
We choose Auberge as a perfect place to celebrate a milestone anniversary. We also choose the tasting menu which was paired with wine. For us, it was a perfect way to sample the full menu and enjoy the experience of the culinary team. It was well done, with great service and insight to each item on the menu. We liked it so much, we will happily return for any special occasion, to be treated well and dive deeper into the menu.
If you’ve never been, you have to enjoy the experience at least once. Food, staff, ambiance all add up to a wonderful dining experience.
It was really nice and fun. The food was interesting, and had lots of great components in them.
Our table wast at an area near kitchen, high traffic of staff and waiters going in and out. Sort of distrupts mood/ambience. Men's urinals, auto flush would be nice.
Our 33 anniversary dinner! We have been having our anniversary dinner at Auberge du Pommier almost every year for more than 20 years! It never disappoints!! And it remains our favourite restaurant in Toronto!
