Since I wanted a casual lunch, decided to try Austin's. It looks neat and clean inside but you can definitely tell its a Pub atmosphere as the bar stands out and has TVs all around. The menu was pretty much what you'd expect to find in a Pub, but I found out they have daily specials too. I ordered the French Dip sandwich, only to read about bad reviews on it while I waited for my lunch. In a way the reviews turned out to be wrong. A typical French Dip sandwich is made with thinly sliced beef (usually roast) piled on a roll. The Austin's one is made with smoked beef brisket, giving it a different flavor and experience. The au jou gravy that accompanies this sandwich usually is on the salty side whereas the one I was given had just the right amount of flavor and seasoning to make the sandwich perfect. Since this sandwich was not the typical French Dip, I'm thinking that maybe that's why some people gave it poor reviews. Personally, I like the change and the sandwich (delicious). The only drawback was the size of the au you gravy cup. Too small to really dip your sandwich in.
My girlfriend ordered the steak sandwich and was a little surprised that it was an open faced sandwich, but enjoyed it thoroughly anyway. Sandwiches come with a side order of sliced pickles, fresh coleslaw, and french or sweet potato fries.
Although I had a beer with my lunch, I don't know how extensive the beer selection is since I didn't see any listed on the menu or on the drink menu. Our waitress was very courteous and helpful with any questions we had, but I do suggest that maybe they should have a menu for the beers they carry.
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch experience here and wouldn't mind coming back again for a good and reasonably priced meal.
