Visited during NE1 Restaurant Week so very busy .. great food and ok service the only downside was the lighting - could hardly see my food !
Food was fantastic however the service was not. We were asked after ordering food if we would like prawn crackers, we said yes and they never arrived. When we went to pay the prawn crackers had been added to the bill and the gentleman who removed it from the bill and processed our payment was shocked as he had asked people to bring them over. There were two young men who seemed lost constantly when we were carrying food around. We had just finished our starters, the plates were still in front of us and one of the young men came over and said in a very rude tone "are these yours". When we were putting our coats on to leave the second young man came over with what I believe was main courses are yet again said in a rude tone "are these yours". Both men then wondered around another few tables before they were directed to the people who had ordered the food. The restaurant itself was also too dark. I am all for a nice ambiance in a restaurant however we were sat in the corner and could barely see the black chopsticks on the table.
2 courses for £10 is fantastic value. 4 ladies dining on a Friday evening, was good atmosphere, good food, and good service, a little slow toward the end, but the restaurant was so busy, it was understandable.
Food is amazing and fast. Excellent service by all the staff. Always come every year for restaurant week and the menu never fails to disappoint.
I had the chicken wings and the chilli beef robata, both were superb.
Regular visitors to Aveika and they never disappoint! Food, service and atmosphere are always of the highest standard. Waitress was incredibly kind and helpful. We made a late night Sunday booking but weren't made to feel like we had to rush our meals to get out. Will be back, as per usual!
Really good food and great value for money however the music was too loud for the lack of customers.
The restaurant itself is placed nicely and has a nice vibe to it. The food is average and so is the service. I had to ask for my service charge to be taken off as the service was so bad. Trying to serve mains whilst starter plates were still everywhere , having to top up our own drinks and then being kicked off our table after 2 hours is not what I would have expected from “one of the best restaurants in Newcastle”. Not impressed. The restaurant also fills up with smoke from the club at around 10.30pm, which is a really unpleasant experience. Would not recommend.
Great atmosphere, fantastic food & service - As always!
We absolutely loved it, the food was gorgeous and the staff and service is excellent. I asked for a birthday desert for my boyfriends birthday which the staff went above and beyond for. Amazing !
I love the ambience of Aveika, such a great combination of food, music and friendly attentive servers! Just love it. Actually there was one small negative aspect - the lighting was just a bit too moody at our table and we had to use phone torches to read some of the menu (age range 31 - 71) but it was such a minor thing it didn't detract from the overall enjoyment of our meals!
I wouldn’t return after 20-12-19. The homestead with the blonde pony tail was exceptionally RUDE! I got there and she didn’t greet us or smile. It was just a poe face, I said our table had changed from a 2 to a 3 and she actually ROLLED HER EYES MADE NO EYE CONTACT AFTER THAT AND DID NOT SPEAK ONE WORD TO US. I was absolutely astounded staff can go on like this to actual paying customers. On that note I definitely wouldn’t return and would not recommend. I find the place completely and utterly snotty and god knows why the chicken and beef were like show leather. YUCKKK. I would also like to have been told about this private party earlier because we couldn’t even go to the bar area all because what people are throwing their cash around? I definitely wish I hadn’t gone and I definitely will not return. YUCKKKKKK service, food and that girl was horrid with that big weird ponytail
Food was lush. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.
Hands down best restaurant in Newcastle ! Amazing venue, amazing food fantastic staff 5*
Great restaurant with lovely food and good service. The Sunday lunch was delicious!
Amazing food & great atmosphere.!
We had a large table and the service was really good we weren’t rushed and everyone enjoyed their food. Will definitely be back
Excellent food and drinks , staff were attentive, lost a star because we waited for drinks and had to ask for prawn crackers after waiting a while , staff were very good just very busy
Excellent experience throughout, great food and service ... enjoyed a lovely evening
I have ate in this restaurant before and had a great experience. Saturday night was a let down. It took around 15 mins to order drinks - I had to get the waiters attention. The food wasn’t up to the high standard as before. The duck pancakes were fatty, the firecracker chicken rice was flavourless and the lamb was fatty.
I've eaten here twice now and both times the restaurant has been to my expectations, very good service, food and ambience.
Excellent value for money food fantastic and drinks well priced service top quality
Food was delightful however a very ignorant waitress. Once food was served the waitress failed to check on our table for the rest of the evening. She did not check if we required further drinks or a dessert. When i came to pay the bill she commented "Your only paying the full amount?" Obviously expecting a tip! I have no issues on rewarding good service but only when it is good service.
We ordered several starters, all were great, especially duck pancakes and king prawns. Black cod main was a bit dry, terriaki chicken was great. Comfortable dining room with very good service. Really good experience
Had a fab night. Food was great and so was the service. Me and my friends loved it.
Great service and even better food, really couldn't fault anything on this occasion.
Exceptional food, great double date restaurant and brilliant service. The only (very harsh) criticism I could find is that our party found a couple of the dishes slightly on the smaller side, however we all left feeling suitably satisfied and not stuffed. I will definitely be going back and couldn't recommend highly enough.
Food was not very hot and tasteless. Have been many times in the past. This was very disappointing
Amazing food & service, even better club at night.
Lively atmosphere and window tables have Newcastle Keyside View. Extensive Asian menu including Sushi Sushimi and Maki rolls to chicken teriyaki and miso cod. Dining with my mother and son and his friends and there was something for everyone on the menu. Small plates and main course portions very generous. Fabulous servise with the lively ambience justifies the menu prices. Lastly cocktail menu and wine list very good. Can thoroughly recommend for a special night out.
Love the food staff always lovely and friendly. The deal is amazing for two courses it’s only £14 and the drinks were all amazing as well
Food excellent. Servic ok. Ambience horrible - sensory overload. Noise level excessive - could not have conversation. Wont be back.
Came to Aveika on a Friday evening and was able to utilise the set menu which is a steal for 3x courses and was able to enjoy the half price cocktail menu. The food was outstanding and the service was exceptional. From the starter to the dessert, all three courses were delicious and very reasonably priced. the portions were more than enough and the ambience was great (music in the background but not too loud to interrupt or disrupt conversations). A great restaurant with an awesome vibe
Food was excellent. A great twist on some Japanese classics. A pity it was so noisy, conversation was difficult. Also sake available in small flasks rather than by the bottle would be an improvement.
Unreal sushi very welcoming staff and great service it is a must you go here 🙌
Amazing food and fab service. Can’t wait to go back.
Lovely restaurant but it was very quiet and staff very quick serving the meals , we were finished a three course meal within forty minutes. Food fabulous and staff lovely but not enough time between courses
it was really lovely, the only part i didn't enjoy was where we were sat as it was right in the middle I felt very conscious and also right under the aircon so had to keep my coat on the whole time, next time I will definitely request a warmer, more out the way spot. Apart from that everything was amazing, food, service & very speedy. Thank you
Second time visited this restaurant. First time in the evening with family, second time at lunch time with old school friend. Both visits couldn't fault the food or staff everything was great.
Booked this for our anniversary dinner. I have always wanted to try Avieka beccause it looks amazing from the outside and I'm really glad I did. The service was fantastic, the food was incredible and the staff kindly arranged for a complimentary selection of desserts with the message Happy Anniversary written. The whole experience was brilliant and I'd recommend anybody thinking of trying this place to give it a go!
