Ayhan's Shish Kebab Mediterranean Restaurant
Ayhan hails from Cyprus and introduced Mediterranean cuisine to Long Island over 30 years ago. The restaurant features an open kitchen so guests can see the delicious dishes being prepared.
Ayhan's Shish Kebab Restaurant has been highly acclaimed on Zagat, AOL, Newsday, and by various food writers. The restaurant is famous for its flame grilled kebabs, whole grilled fish, freshly made appetizers, superb salads and handmade desserts. The wine list features popular wines from Turkey, Greece and the US. Turkish coffee and cappuccino are a specialty.
Very good Greek food and service. Even though this is a chain the quality of the food is excellent especially the gyros and greek salads. We shared humus and grilled octopus as well!
The food is excellent. There is quite a variety of delicious items. The ambiance is pleasing and soothing. For the quality of food offered, the Sunday brunch is priced reasonably. Yes, I have told friends about Ayhan's and will return soon.
I’ve eaten there before many times. I feel the quality of the food was of lesser quality at brunch, which this meal was, than when I have gone there for dinner.
Had the nicest waiter ever, the food was amazing, and the restaurant has the cutest Mediterranean aesthetic. My family is already planning the next visit!
Great service and food was delicious.
Very welcoming and accommodating of our party of 18. A great place for a party. Wonderful food. Very easy for people with special dietary requirements eg GF or DF
Great place to meet for a healthy lunch. Ample parking.
The lunch specials are an exceptional value. They are generous and tasty
Really good buffet. I was filled up the entire day
We hadn’t been to this restaurant in years as we no longer live in the area, but it wasn’t just as good as we remembered! We thoroughly enjoyed it!
Food was absolutely amazing, as always! The service is always great. And the staff was SO nice, helpful, and well-mannered. I look forward to dining here again soon!
Food was excellent and our waiter was awesome with his recommendations and attentiveness
Best Greek food on Long Island!
Great food and service
I love this place! I used to visit the plainview location, but I was sad to see that rent got way to high there. This location is a bit out of the way for me, but I definitely will be back as there is just no better food in Long Island.
Without a doubt, the food is great, the service is top notch, the decor is spot on and I couldn't ask for a more authentic Mediterranean place.
Ist time here the Food and service was excellent!!! Will definitely return
Not busy so we were allowed to sit and chat
Never been here , but first time , If I was in the area I would go back . I loved the Garlic sauce with the bread. Oh My was that good !!!!!!!!
Our meal was perfect, so was the drink, and of course our waitress.
It's a great restaurant is adorable portions are huge quality of food is great definitely going back
The baby lamb chops with rice and veggies were delicious. The skirt steak is also excellent. Very good service.
Great food, but it could have been cleaner (dead flies on the window sill by the booths.
We come here all the time. Food is always delicious!
Thank you Juan Carlos (server) for making Ayhan's a complete and welcome surprise to my wife and me. We did not expect to find such quality and quantity in what initially appeared to be kind of an "oddball" joint. This is a place that we knew about for years passing its locations on Sunrise Highway in RVC. We never stopped to try it out. After they took over the much beloved Raay-Nor's location on Sunrise, I thought it was just another run of the mill middle east-style restaurant. But fine dining it's not. Regardless, while the restaurant is missing Raay-Nor's pine straw covered roof (1949 - 2005), I think that Ayhan's will have as good a run there as did the old fried chicken and hamsteak eatery.
Went here with some friends. Waitress was extremely nice and helpful with the menu. Good food. Portions were big
The food was excellent. The staff was knowledge and very friendly. Always a fun atmosphere.
Food was great, my husband had the grilled octopus and I had the lamb gyro platter...SO MUCH FOOD! The waiter, Juan, was exceptional! His happiness and good spirit was contagious and made the meal even more enjoyable.
We've been going to this restaurant since it opened. We are never disappointed. There aren't too many places to get authentic Mediterranean food, which is different than Greek. My favorite entree is the skirt steak, always tender and tasty.
Great service, tasty food! The steak kababs taste like filet mignon. Wonderful meal!!!
We've been coming here for years. Always a good time, great food and friendly service
Kebabs were cooked well and arrived hot. Lots of options for sides and entrees come with soup or salad. Overall excellent value and tasty food!
Good Mediterranean selections and service
Everything fresh and tasty
First time visitor to restaurant. Very friendly staff food abundant and delicious. Would highly recommend this restaurant
Food was good, service a little slow, wine not so good.
Nice enough place, waitress good but overworked. We were not the only frustrated patrons waiting to long. Lamb was overcooked, rice not very flavorful. Skimpy on the veggies. The highlight was the excellent yogurt sauce served with the pita. Loved it!
The choices seem endless on a menu filled wit authentic cuisine. Grape Leaves and Hummus are a great choice for appetizer. The Spinach Pie and Baklava was the best I have ever had. Our servers were fantastic and we recommend highly this is a place to go if you love Mediterranean food!
This was my second time dining at this restaurant. The first time it was great but the second time not so much. The staff seemed to be overwhelmed that which led to forgetfulness, mixing up an order and slow service. Also my son's chicken dish was on the "grisly side". The waitress did make up for it by offering him another dish. On the plus side the rest of the food orders went from good to excellent. I my guess is that it was a Saturday night and the place was packed. The first time we were there it was a weeknight. I would give the place another chance however.
They ran out of Tziki sauce and the restaurant didn’t except so many patrons for restsurant week . More servers were needed in dining area
Dirty dishes remained on the next table through most of our meal despite servers walking by. Manager is out to lunch.
So what happened to the once mighty Ayhan's? Most of them have closed down, but thankfully the Baldwin restaurant still has the same delicious food as the closed ones did. You really can't go wrong with any of their dinners, the chicken, steak, lamb, etc. are all delicious and their sauces are superb. The only thing wrong is that the place itself is not nice looking at all. It's a bit on the dull side and the tables are cramped. The service is very good, but I wish it all looked nicer.
